INTRODUCTION: This case involved two unidentified suspects who burglarized Tomikawa Sushi. Stolen: Black double stacked safe- $1,600 US currency- $2,062 Total- $3,662 EVIDENCE: Video Surveillance INVESTIGATION: On Thursday, June 20, 2024, partner Officer Bisterfeldt and I were working uniformed patrol in a marked black and white police vehicle (Unit #45) with a call sign “1A21.” I was the driver and Officer Bisterfeldt was the passenger. At approximately 9:40 AM, we were dispatched to Tomikawa Sushi, located at 3539 E. Foothill Blvd. in regards to commercial burglary. Dispatch advised the front glass was broken. Once we cleared the restaurant, I conducted my investigation. I contacted Witness Jesus Samaniego and the following is a paraphrased summary of our conversation. Samaniego is the chef at the restaurant. Samaniego said that he had video surveillance of the two suspects who burglarized the restaurant. Samaniego showed me the video surveillance from his cell phone, and the following are my observations. Camera #1 faces the north front entry of the restaurant. On today’s date at approximately 3:11 AM, two suspects entered through the main entry. You can see glass broken but I am unable to identify how they shattered the glass door. Samaniego and I walked through the restaurant. In the back office, Samaniego said the suspects took the safe out of the office. Samaniego said the safe was anchored to the floor. Camera #2, which is the office camera facing east into the Office. At approximately 3:12 AM, two suspects entered the office with what appeared to be tools in their hands.
