What is abortion? For those of you who do not know, abortion is killing a fetus in the mother’s womb before the fetus has the opportunity to develop. Scientists may argue that a fetus does not become a person until it is born, but I do not agree. I believe the fetus is a human being as soon as it is conceived, and aborting that child should be considered murder. People have many reasons for wanting to abort their children. Some say they can’t afford another baby; others say they don’t want the child because they hate the person who got them pregnant. Often times women who are raped and get pregnant will want to abort their child. In this case the mother has options that don’t include abortion. One option is to give up the baby for abortion instead of aborting it. There are hundreds of couples all over the world who can’t conceive a child and would be willing to . Instead of killing the baby, they can give the child a second chance by giving it to a couple who will love them and give them a good home. Therefore, I believe abortion is not the way a mother should handle the problem. “A psychologist said that about 10% of the 1.6 million women who have had an abortion experience severe emotional trauma” (Cung). "About 61% of abortions are obtained by women who have one or more children. The number of U.S.declined 4% between 2008 (1,793) and 2011 (1,720). The number of clinics providing abortion services declined 1%, from 851 to 839. Eighty-nine percent of all U.S. counties lacked an 2011; 38% of women live in those counties" (Cung). Mesfin 2 “Some of the damage results from an abortion damaged cervix, perforated uterus, hemorrhage, and infection are just a few of the side effects that could occur study published in the American J... ... middle of paper ... ... child. I know this is a horrible world, but they are not giving their child a chance to live their lives. If you do not have enough money you can give your child up for adoption, there are people who cannot have children and want to adopt. Not all the people in the world are abusive and your child might be in a loving home. If you believe in God, the Bible says that "abortion is a sin". In some religions a woman cannot have communion after she has an abortion. In any religions, people get punished for what they did and they spend lots of time begging for forgiveness. Finally, abortion causes psychological trauma.. Many suffer depressed after they abort their child. Some women even kill themselves out of regret. So please think about what you’re doing before doing it. It can cause a lot of pain and suffering to you and the people who love and care about the baby.
The article “Abortion Harms Women” suggests supporters of legalized abortion downplay the health and mental risks associated with abortion. Research has indicated there is short and long-term physical and mental harm related to abortion (“Abortion Harms Women”). Abortion can cause many physical complications for the women, such as infections, excessive bleeding, and blood clots. They can even be life-threatening in some cases. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer points out abortion is surprisingly the fifth leading cause of death maternally in the United States. There are certain complications, including infection, hemorrhage, pulmonary embolism (blood clot), and complications from anesthetics that are responsible for a woman’s death (“Abortion Harms Women”). Also, there is a greater risk of mortality the further along a woman is when she has an abortion. Along with the physical risks associated with abortion, there are the psychological risks. Abortion can cause women to feel ashamed or guilty, resulting in an increase in emotional pain. In the article “Abortion Harms Women” the writer explains many emotional problems that can affect women after an abortion. Some women experience an increase in the use of alcohol and drugs. Studies have shown that 34% of women are at a greater risk for anxiety and depression. Also, there is a 60% increase for women to
People have abortions for many different reasons. People go through many stages in their life that will cause them not to want kids. For example, some people may have been molested by family members, or even strangers. While some parents are not financially able to raise a child. There are options such as giving the child up for adoption or even letting a family member carry the child.
Many also argue that it is a woman 's right to choose whether or not she wants to have a child and no matter what it is her body and nobody else should be concerned with what she decides to do with her body. So now the question still remains should abortion be legal say I will be analyzing this topic in discussing my views on abortion, pro-life, and pro-choice. So what is abortion? Abortion according to Webster dictionary it is the deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, most often performed during the first 28 weeks of pregnancy.
The most common symptom of threatened abortion is vaginal bleeding, with or without intermittent pain. About a quarter of all pregnant women bleed at some time during early pregnancy, however, and up to 50 per cent of these women carry the foetus to full term. Treatment for threatened abortion usually consists of bed rest. Almost continuous bed rest throughout pregnancy is required in some cases of repeated abortion; vitamin and hormone therapy may also be given. Surgical correction of uterine abnormalities may be indicated in certain of these cases.
The procedure causes health complications for the mother, inflicts pain on a living fetus, and kills the unborn baby. Late-term abortion induces innumerable physical health complications to the patient, including severe infections, extreme bleeding, and damage to the uterus. In addition, one analysis, in relation to abortion problems, states, “from 1988 to 1997 found the risk of death increased by 38% for each additional week of gestation, during the pregnancy.” (Jones).
Abortion should not be done because even if it’s not born out into the world yet, it is still a living innocent human being. Having an abortion will likely give you risks in the future, and you may end up regretting your decision in the future. Please reconsider having an abortion you are again killing an innocent child and losing the dignity of your child. Even though this is all your decision, choose wisely.
A person being pregnant and wishing they weren't is probably the worst feelings a woman can have. A women knowing that if they brought a child into the world and they didn't want it, or they would have to give it up for adoption is such a disheartening way to start off, and mother and the un-born child would be so much better off if they were to terminate the pregnancy and wait for a more appropriate time, or in the case of rape, put the past behind them and move on. Women should have the choice because not everyone knows what the situation was. In today’s society people have attached shame with the word abortion. When people hear of abortions they automatically assume it was the mothers fault and she didn’t use protection or may...
Abortion is inhumane and cruel. It causes harm to the mother. It also puts the baby through a lot of pain. When the baby is born it appears lout of the womb bloody, and in some cases burned. "The baby is born poisoned and burned" (www.mccl.org). This is cruel to the baby and causes a lot of pain throughout the process. Abortion can also be cruel to the mother. "Abortion causes possible harm and death to the mother" (www.mccl.org). Abortion can take away the gift of life which is also cruel to the mother. It is such an amazing process to conceive a child and everything that has to happen is an unbelievable process. It is cruel and inhumane to take a life away from any mother. The unnecessary pain the baby feels is uncalled for and should not ever have to happen. Abortion has too many complications and too many consequences that are overbearing for some mothers to handle.
Abortion is an issue lacking of humanity and moral value because of the various motives behind it. Abortion is the most extreme, permanent and devastatingly violent solution, for an unborn child. As said by former Surgeon General and a pediatrician Dr. C. Everett Koop, the most common reason for abortion is convenience. Only three to five percent of all abortions performed are for reasons of rape, incest, the possibility of a deformed child, or severe threat to the life of the mother. As Dr. Koop, has pointed out, the majority of partial birth abortions are not required by medical emergency. According to researchers at the Alan Guttmacher Institute, of those obtaining abortions in 1980, 30 percent were under age 20 and 79 percent were unmarried, which shows that abortions in the United States are most often sought as a "solution" to the problem of pregnancy outside of marriage. The major reason behind most of the abortions is mere inconvenience or unwantedness of the baby seems mean, insensitive and unreasonable.
Women may have an abortion for a variety of reasons, but in general they choose abortion because a pregnancy at that time is in some way wrong for them. “Abortion is the removal of a fetus from the uterus before it is mature enough to live on its own” (Kuechler 1996). When this happens spontaneously we call it a miscarriage. Induced abortion is brought about deliberately by a medical procedure that ends pregnancy. Legal abortion, carried out by trained medical practitioners, is one of the most common and safest surgical procedures. “About 1.5 million American women choose to have induced abortions each year. Less than 1% of all abortion patients experience a major complication associated with the procedure” (Kuechler 1996).
Many young, teen girls experience the harmful psychological effects of having an abortion. Though many people are against abortions, it is still being done. Teen’s attitudes and demeanor about themselves change drastically once they have had an abortion. The abortion has several side effects that a teen may or may not know how to cope with it. These girls experience a sense of withdraw, quilt and self destruction.
There are a lot of effects to having a abortion. One of the worst affects is the emotional effects of it after it has bin done. Most women that a get an abortion get a disease called PAS. The causes for this stress disorder are really quite simple. The thing that has made the very existence of Post-Abortion-Syndrome debatable is the fact that it often does not surface until many years after the abortion. It is very common for a woman to say that she is fine about the whole thing, but later in live she finds herself engulfed in feelings of guilt, confusion, and exploitation. The reason for the surfacing anxiety is partly a mystery, but is often associated with the birth of a wanted child, or during unrelated counseling. The very interesting phenomenon about this dis-order is that the synptoms seem repressible, at least for a time. Clinical research has shown that when women are in trusting sharing relationships they report deep seated feelings of guilt, anxiety, depression, loss, anger, and exploitation over their abortion experience. The causes for the dis-order surfacing seems to be in many ways, time itself. The psychological damage, today known as Post-Abortion Syndrome. The consequences are long lasting and destructive When an individual undergoes an abortion she has a high stress reaction to the experience. Yet all too often her emotional pain is denied at the abortion clinic, minimised by partners and families, mis-diagnosed or trivialised by helping professions and ignored by so...
Abortion by definition means the way of ending pregnancy by removing fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. Abortion is an extremely debatable issue because while some people are completely against it, others believe that a woman should have the right to choose. Abortion decision is like killing own child or killing an innocent human life before coming out from uterus. I will explain how a human life is being destroyed, the process in which they destroy the fetus, and how to avoid this situation all together I believe that abortion is morally impermissible.
As stated multiple times; Psalm 139:13-16, speaks of God’s active role in or creation and formation in the womb, therefore this states God makes all fetus/ people for a certain reason and this means God does not want abortion otherwise why would he make them. Exodus 21:22-25, prescribes the same penalty, death, for someone who causes the death of a baby in the womb as for someone who commits murder, this clearly indicates that God then considers a fetus/ baby in the womb as to be the same as a full-grown adult, this then means God indicates abortion is wrong. Christian’s beliefs of abortion is it not a matter of a woman’s right to choose, it is a matter of the life or death of a human being made in God’s image, Genesis 1:26-27, 9:6. The first argument that fights against the Christian stance on abortion is “What about cases of rape and/or incest?” two wrongs do not make a right. The child who is born of rape/incest could be given in adoption to a loving family and are unable to have children on their own. The baby is innocent therefore should not be punished for the acts of its father. The Roman Catholic Church says abortion is a grave moral wrong. As based on the written word of God and natural law, as they prohibit abortion under any circumstances, "You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the new born to perish". As
Abortion is wrong, where are the baby’s rights? Some would say, abort the baby, you have been raped. Why not have the baby and give it up for adoption? Ever since the early 1970’s, unwed women were pregnant, and regardless their circumstances, they would have the baby, or raise it. In my opinion, abortion is not the answer; the baby should have the right to live by giving it up for adoption.
