Can a person be considered a hero through a single act? A hero can be defined as a person idealized for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. A simple act of bravery of can make anyone a hero or heroine. Ordinary people can become heroes for making one courageous act they did. A hero can also be a person who is admired for their noble qualities and what they did to make a difference.
First of all, one can be established as a hero with a single act by having an important trait called compassion. Compassion is an important characteristic to have as a hero because it means to have sympathy and pity or worry about others that are in need. The article,"Heroes Among Us: When Ordinary People Become Extraordinary." written by Laurel Dalrymple states that “[f]or a life to be saved, there is no time to wait for rescuers. So these people stepped up, at the risk of their own lives, for people they did not know.” This means that people are heroic enough to step up and not wait for help to save a life. For example, people that have compassion that do one heroic act can be established as a hero because they assisted in a certain situation that was in need of immediate help. Compassionate heroes have the trait of heroism and do the right actions at the right times to help out people in need.

Webster’s dictionary defines a hero as any man admired for his courage, qualities or exploits, especially in war. Some people attribute the term hero mostly to war. My personal definition of a hero is someone who takes a stand against evil or an unjust cause. The term hero can be applied to anyone, it isn’t necessary to save the world from explosion to be a hero. The act of standing up for a friend can also be called a heroic act.
A hero is someone who is confident and competent. They show that they are fearless and put others before them. A hero is alert and aware of the lives he or she lives. Heroes usually have a passion for what they do and they do it and finish it, no matter the consequence. Therefore sacrifice contributes more to heroism because heroes putting themselves before others shows that they are selfless.
A person who overcomes antagonistic and unnecessary issues in a mature and powering manor. That is the definition of a hero to me. Someone who is being hurt and sees others hurt from the actions and takes charge and does everything in his power to change it. Someone who puts others before themselves and acts in the most chivalrous way. The definition of a hero is different for everyone. Some one might think of a hero as someone who can lift a car and put it on their back, or gives a dying person their kidney. Yes all of those people are forms of hero’s. You can’t tell someone that they are not a hero just because they don’t change into a disguise in a telephone both or can throw lightning bolts from a cloud. Everyone is a hero in their own way.

Others may view this type of hero as stupid, or a martyr. Every hero has faults and these faults along with heroic deeds make the man or woman; a hero, heroine.
Over the course of history the definition of what makes a hero has made many changes. Beowulf, Superman, and firefighters are all examples of heroes, but they are very different when broken down. Today’s society defines a hero by his values, his strength, and his journey.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary a hero is an individual who is admired for great bravery or fine qualities. To me a hero is so much more than a person who shows great bravery. When I think of a hero many fine qualities come to mind; intelligence, courage, altruism, compassion and great bravery.

A hero can also be a person who fights for other people to help or save them. from their fears and fears. When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
In today's modern times we hear the word hero all of the time. The news media throws the term around as if it is an everyday word. What exactly is a hero? Who, or what, can be classified as heroic? The correct definition of the word hero is: One invested with heroic qualities in the opinions of others. That is a fine definition for books and intellectual minds. To the average person, however, a hero is much more.
Heroism is defined as an act of courage and an act of selflessness. They reflect the highest levels of morality in society. Heroes have embodied the morality codes of civilizations throughout the ages. When heroes display courage, observers often identify with that courage. The refusal to take the easy way out and the ability to act in spite of fear, is what makes a person a hero. This is the way everyone wishes to react in the midst of a crisis. As witnessed in literature and real life, mankind needs heroes to provide an inspirational role model, an escape from the mundane, and a guide for morality.
Heroes function in certain ways they act different towards certain situations than others would. They tend to take matters into their own hands, whenever situations arise, they stay calm yet they act fast. One thing they certainly always do is figure out the best way to handle or resolve situations. They go day by day thinking about others before themselves; they are the type of people to put others safety before theirs.
What makes the acts of heroism different from the daily lives of others? To people, the act of heroism can be from their favorite sports player or an actor. But, to some, they could be their family members. Each heroic act in the society is faced with great challenges, but the hero never backs down. In addition, heroic acts have many different purposes in our society.
