Assertive: confidently aggressive or self-assured; positive: aggressive;dogmatic. Being assertive has been something I used to really struggle with when I was younger and even late into my teen years. Many people struggle with being assertive, and personally I struggled with it in fear of being seen as mean or rude. I have worked to develop this trait into one of the dominant parts of my personality after working on gaining it for years. I think it is important for people to realise that dominant traits do not have to be lifelong but they can be learned over time. When I was younger and even up until the past few years I have had a really hard time saying no to people when they would ask me to do things for them. Whether it would be my mom asking me to go to the store for her or teachers and friends asking me to volunteer for something I have almost always said yes. I have had to learn to be confident in my choice to say no to people because it was becoming overwhelming with trying to balance school, work, extracurriculars, and all these other commitments I was making. I felt like if I said no to these people they would be hurt and not want to come to me again and that took a long time for me to get over but once I was able to realise that I needed to be strong for myself I was able to be most assertive with them. I slowly started standing my ground whenever people asked me to do things and I said no I would not let them persuade me into doing them and I was confident in my answers. This took a long time for me but I think that this was important because without becoming more assertive just in my day to day life I may still be completely overwhelmed like I

In comparison, I also have opposing thoughts towards the way I was raised and how it affects my character. Chapter one of Ten Traits of Highly Effective Principals opens with one of the most influential traits of what an effective principal should possess, the communication trait. To be successful in any venue in life, you must be able to communicate with people; this is especially true in the education world. Principals are responsible for communicating with people in all walks of life, parents, students, teacher, administrative office personnel and the general public, as an administrator, you must make each of these individuals feel a sense of trust and belonging while communicating with them. Principals use conversations and gesture to build confidence and open lines of communication for learning and growth.
Positive: I can generally see the bright side of a situation. I demonstrate a good attitude when my parents tell me to do extra work.
In the article “Dealing with People”, Greg McGrew explains that different types of personality to solve the problems of people’s relationship in our society. He classifies people by four types that are dominants, expressives, analyticals, and amiables. Greg begins with dominants who are forceful, confident, sociable, outgoing, and confrontational tend to threat their mental. Secondly, he describes expressives who are also quite forceful and reluctant to reject a suggestion due to concern about relationship. Talking with them is good method of treating expressive people. Then, he points out that analytical people deliberate to get the right answer. Even though they are superior in making decision, they need time to think how to answer the question.

Inequality and prejudice has been around for as long as the country has been founded. Beginning as a social construct, arbitrary differences, be it sexual orientation, age, and or handicapped status, have been pointed out and discriminated against. Many advocate for stricter guidelines to be placed on new laws that might seem offense and or discriminatory. This is referred to as Strict Scrutiny and it is deemed as a necessity by some in order to remain a progressive society. This means that before a law can be made it must undergo carefully inspection by the Supreme Court. (180-181) I believe that this argument does have merit and should be the standard for these types of laws, as well as in general.

The epic poem Beowulf gives an enhanced illustration and clearer understanding of the culture of the Ancient Anglo-Saxon’s. The epic poem gives the audience a picture of what the Ancient Anglo-Saxon English valued; seafaring, warriors, heroes, and paganism.
The idea of what’s morally right and wrong changes within each culture whether an organizational culture or between individuals. However, the best leaders are the ones who do what’s right and best for the organization. During this research paper I will attempt to define the term leadership style and its concept. Moreover, I will attempt to describe three leadership styles, the development and the process one would follow to modify their leadership style. When pertaining to myself, I never saw myself as a leader but I will attempt to describe my leadership style and the advantages and disadvantage I would have in a business environment.
In chapter nine of Messages, assertiveness training is presented as a way “to express your feelings, thoughts, and wishes, and to stand up for your legitimate rights without violating the rights of others.” (McKay, Davis, Fanning, 2009, p. 125) According to McKay, Davis, and Fanning (2009), “assertiveness is a social behavior that can be learned” (p.125) Assertiveness that is presented in a way that is used to express ‘your’ feelings and not necessarily to interpret someone else’s connects directly with the single contingency method. As assumptions number four of the skills and tools model of communication states that communication skills are trainable like motor skills, assertiveness skills such as passiveness, aggressiveness, and assertiveness are presented in a way that may be taught to use in appropriate situations to depict your feelings and your wishes. The book differentiates between a skill that is similar to a personality trait, and assertiveness that can be acquired, which contradicts assumption number four because it suggests that learning to communicate is similar to learning jumping jacks. It also specifies that assertiveness is used to initiate your own message instead of another’s reaction.
While due to the reason that Authentic Leadership is still in the formative phase, the textbook by Northouse provides different definitions of this type of leadership depending on the viewpoints that make this leadership style very broad compared to other more defined leadership styles, I do find Authentic Leadership as a compelling theory. While it is a broad style, it is also very complete by having different approaches that fulfill the goal of explaining the different components of this style. As individuals, we are constantly learning what to say, do or think. Almost everything that we do is a result of learning it. Some things, we learn at a young age; while others may take years to obtain the knowledge. Assertiveness, is one aspect of learning and it is one of the toughest to obtain; but why? What makes a good person good? According to WikiHow, "We should learn to define our own morals ourselves. One of the simplest ways to do so is to love others, and treat them as you would like to be treated. Try to think of others before yourself. Even doing small things daily will greatly enrich and improve your life, and the lives of others around you." This quote shows us what we need to do in order to be what society thinks as, “good". In order to be a good person, you have to do good and moral things in your society consistently. However people might think that by doing one good thing once in a while will automatically make you a “good person”, but in reality it doesn’t.
The world we live in today is far from perfect. Hearing about murder and violence is something we have all become, accustom to but does that make it right? Absolutely not. Media has influenced an affected a key value of human beings and that value is integrity. The value of integrity is severely lacking and society needs to reestablish the ability to look beyond race, gender, and sexuality. I have seen on multiple occasions’ individuals jumping to conclusions or judging someone simply off the way they look or dress. This has been an issue I have witnessed throughout my high school career and in my everyday routine; media is a large contribution and something needs to be done.
Extrovert and Introvert and Judgment and Perception seem interchangeable to my personality and may be viewed as unerringly the two sides of one coin for me. The test declared me the "Persuader" type and elaborated that the ENFJ type is an outstanding leader of groups and may be aggressive at helping others be the best that they can be. It also states that this personality type is 2.5% of the total population. I find this to be poignantly true. Whenever I find myself butting heads with those close to me, or those I have taken special interest in helping, it is because of this "aggressiveness" or passion that others misconstrue as me trying to "run their lives". This can be quiet frustrating because my "aggressiveness" comes from an altruistic place of wanting to help and not from a need to control.
