What I Learned In My English II Class

English is important for everything involving communication, especially job interviews, resumes, business emails and anything else in a professional setting. It is important for teachers to prepare their students well in high school English because when they reach college ,if not, they will be lost. A good teacher is someone who can provide good communication with students and actually teaches English. My professors were unsuccessful in teaching English because they were not focused on English writing, and they were not teaching effectively enough.
My freshman year in high school we did not really do any writing. Most of the time all we did was read books and watch movies over the books we had read. After we finished a book we took either took a quiz over the book, or we wrote a paragraph summary over what happened in the book. We then were “rewarded” with a movie that dealt with the book afterwards. We also did literary analysis, and vocabulary work. Unfortunately, my English II class turned out to be an arts and crafts class. We cut out paper and hung our clippings on the ceiling. Do not get me wrong, we did some work. Our class would read a book, like The Hunger Games, and then afterwards we would watch the movie. Then we would make a paper maché artsy thing and hang it either on the ceiling or the wall. I feel my teacher should have made us read the book, then made us write an essay over what the book was about and what we learned from it. We needed to learn how to do that in order to be prepared for college. The students really ran the class, as she was very soft spoken, and not in control of the class at all. She should have been stricter with what she said and did so the class could achieve
