Leading You to a Healthy Lifestyle: Nurse Practitioners. I have imagined myself in several different careers that have interested me as I've grown up, from styling hair to being a fashion designer, and even a professional singer. Now, even though it is crazy to believe time has flown by so fast, I am at the age where I am deciding what I want to major in. Even though all of those professions I listed above were very interesting, there was one job when I was growing up that I knew would be a stable and interesting profession: a nurse practitioner. I have always been interested in health sciences and seeing as though I was familiar with a doctor’s office/hospital setting due to being born with a birth defect, I felt that nurse practitioner was the most suitable job for me.
It is a place filled with babies but the robust cries normally present in a nursery are muffled by the sounds of alarms, monitors, and concerned parents. A world in itself completely focused on saving lives. My dream is to be a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurse because I desire to provide critical care and communication skills, along with emotional understanding and stability to the tiniest humans, and their parents.
A nurse practitioner (NP) is one who is qualified to treat certain medical conditions without the direct supervision of a doctor. Also known as a registered nurse. (RN)
One credential that aligns with the type of job I’m seeking would be a certified medical office assistant. As a medical office assistant (MOA), I would be the first point of communication between patient and office, and I will be the one to set the tone for the patient’s experience. In addition to managing patients, MOAs also work behind the sections to organize appointments, lab test examinations, bring charts up to date, handle insurance repayments and other functions that may keep a medical office successively efficiently. A medical office assistant can have great flexibility by a doctor who has high expectations in his honesty and judgment, mainly in smaller office where an MOA must unavoidably

“Nurses don’t wait until October to celebrate Make a Difference Day — they make a difference every day”, explains an unknown author. My main source of inspiration to become a nurse comes from an innate desire to help people and care for them in times of need. I am also a person who thrives on being challenged and I always have new goals to achieve, so nursing suits me as few other careers offer as much diversity and learning opportunities so, attending Virginia Commonwealth University is something that has been my desire for the longest. The intentions that I have for when I become a nurse practitioner are to aid and care for the sick, as well as I am able but also to assist doctors and staff as well as I am capable.
My desire to become a nurse is deeply-rooted in my aspiration to contribute to the well-being and improvement of the less privileged as well as my own personal ethical stance. My decision was made easy by the professional code of ethics of nursing, which correspond with my personal beliefs. One of my personal values that have shaped me into who I am today is honesty. It is important to provide patients with accurate information on procedures, diagnosis, treatment options, and possible outcomes. Although I am fallible, it is imperative to acknowledge and take responsibility of my own mistakes. These personal qualities would help propel me into my professional career.
Reading “I am an English Major, Now What?” written by Timothy Lemire was an interesting discussion to explain to the students that their careers can be successful with English majors. This book was designed to help academic students understand the purpose of English skills and communication with the proper techniques to enhance achievements. The English major involves a variety of reading and writing, but people can find real jobs to help them achieve happiness in their life. In addition, the student needs to know who they are, what they can do, what they want, and where to look for opportunities. Colleges and universities around the world has a different set of requirements for the major in English, but to earn a degree in English, the student should be able to at least read two three-hundred page novels and write a five-page paper about the novel. According to Lemire, “There are English skills that the student should learn at a bare minimum, such as proper grammar, manage deadlines, and
It’s been my desire, longing for a nursing career since I was in my primary and secondary school. At the age of 12, I began to look after children and baby-sitting then, from there, I gained the understanding of how to deal with children. Nursing is one of the highly demanding careers that bring new challenges every day and it comes with various rewards and a real sense of job satisfaction. I chose nursing because it is a profession where you never really finish learning. It has been my dream job since my tender age. Seeing nurses visiting my school treating students, immunisation, teaching us about health and sexual health issues, this encouraged me. My goal and desire at that age have been to help people within the Health sector. That is how; I decided to go to college where I am currently doing my Access to Higher Education Diploma (Science), which involves Biology and Chemistry. As someone who wants to become a nurse, I found biology as an important role in the delivery of client car...
