Throughout my whole life, I’ve always had a computer to engage in, which allowed me to learn the world and thanks to that it shaped who I am as a person today. Searching the internet and discovering many things that piqued my interest was my favorite pastime. To be able to search far and wide and explore so many things on a little screen in front of me. I may not be the most social person; however, I have become a very knowledgeable person. Without the computer’s assistance, I’m not sure if I would have become the open-minded person I am today. While it is true that the convenience of our tools may cause humans to become noticeably lazier when researching, it does not necessarily follow that people are no longer seeking more information. “Today’s digital tools help us see more, retain more, communicate more.” (Thompson 347) If a researcher didn’t know a piece of data that conflicts with their current research then their research may come to a conclusion at that point. But with the convenience of our tools, they would be able to find that information, correct their mistake and move on.
