Throughout the Weight Lifting 1 and 2 courses I learned many new ways to stay fit, both physically and mentally. I have gained more knowledge in the actual act of lifting. I learned to overcome challenges, and how to improve from them. I also found out how to tailor a workout to my personal needs, and to use that to plan for future fitness routines. Finally, I acquired the ability to be able to change my personal mindset on being able to take all I could from an activity. Being more knowledgeable in physical and mental fitness was my outcome to participation in Weight Training 1 and 2. By working to learn how to do certain lifts and agility workouts I gained experience in using outside resources and my peers for help. This skill can be used in almost any situation when dealing with needing to know information that is prior knowledge based. By gaining muscle in my shoulders and not skipping when I was sore I learned that even when activities get tough pushing to the end can be rewarding. I can use this idea to accomplish tasks in the future, especially when I feel like giving up. My third challenge helped by showing me that stepping outside my comfort zone isn't a bad thing, and can even result in new knowledge. In my future, this will be especially important because I will be able to know that gaining new experiences can help me in daily tasks. I plan on taking weightlifting during school in my senior year. With that class, I hope to continue to stay fit and to push myself to greater accomplishments. Over the summer I participate in Drum Corps International, a highly selective activity consisting of one hundred and fifty marching members who send fifty-two consecutive days on tour competing and depending on the corps, two to four weeks in spring training preparing for the season. This will be my third summer as a contrabass bugle player, but this year I hope that I will become even more fit than previous years by applying the knowledge I gained in this class to my everyday workouts.
