America has been on a mission to destroy terrorist threats with the War on Terror ever since the brink of disaster of 9/11. Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four planes and crashed into the World Trade Center in New York City on September 11th, 2001. This has disrupted the balance of once the strongest nation in the world. Many believe this terrorist insurgence was bound to happen due to the past history. According to Ph.D. Zalman 9/11 dated all the way back to 1979 when the Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan and set up a procommunist leader. The United States in return funded soldiers and forces to go against the invasion. As a result to the invasions, Saudi established Osama Bin Laden as the leader of the Egyptian Islamic Jihad organization. With Osama as the commander, Al Qaeda launched a terrorist attack against America in retaliation. As a result, Americans were distraught and sought revenge, creating the War on Terror. The War on Terror is a costly project, but is the only way to keep peace in the United States.
In order to understand the war against terrorism, you must understand what terrorism is. Terrorists are people that are provoked by political means and create fear to reach their goals (Walker). Many people believe that the cure to terrorism is not a war, but more diplomacy. People believe that anyone can be reasoned with to a certain extent. I, however, disagree. If we run the risk of negotiating with the terrorists instead of funding defense then the United States would lose the only protection they have if negotiations fail. According to Anup Shah, most Americans think of the stereotypical Muslim when they hear terrorist. With the number of terrorists growing over the decade, there are over 28 foreign terrorists’ org...

...declared war and President Bush had no choice but to fight. Al Qaeda killed thousands of civilians when taking down the World Trade Center. He believes they chose America as a place to spread their Islamic views and power. IPS, Jim Lobe notes, “Al Qaeda appears to have largely succeeded in its hopes of accelerating the decline of U.S. global power, if not bringing it to the brink of collapse” (Shah)
Many think that if you try to compromise, terrorists will go away. However, there is no compromise with terrorists. Terrorists do anything in their power to destroy others, and there’s no trusting them without risks. One of the worst ways to weaken an economy is a terrorist attack. The terrorist attack could lead to anxiety in cities around America and the shutting down of American borders out of that fear, which could lead to the prevention of internal trade (Walker).
