The Walt Disney Studio was founded in 1923 by brothers Walt and Roy Disney as an animation studio after signing a contract with M. J. Winkler to produce a series of Alice Comedies (The Walt Disney Company, 2017). According to the Walt Disney Company’s mission statement, the company strives “to be one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and [...] seeks to develop the most creative, innovative, and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world.” (The Walt Disney Company, 2017). Success grew after contracting with ABC television in four years later to produce a one-hour television program in exchange for a $500,000 investment by ABC in Disneyland (Cacciatore, 2014). This led to the beginning of “The Mickey Mouse Club”, and the opening of a new Disneyland Park in California. Walt Disney died from lung cancer in 1966, but his work continues to flourish today. His legacy continues to bring joy, happiness, and inspiration to millions of others (Cacciatore, 2014). In 1971, in Orlando Florida, Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom opened to the public, which included an amusement theme park and motel-hotel resort vacation center (Matusitz & Palermo, 2014). The following year, EPCOT (Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow) opened at Walt Disney World. In 1987, the first Disney international park opened in Tokyo, and The Disney Channel began broadcasting (Matusitz & Palermo, 2014). Disney uses their creative imagination to provide an enjoyable experience around the world. The Walt Disney Company aims to target parents with a median household income of $42,360.00.
