How Did Walt Disney Influence American Culture

There’s so many different kinds of people who have had a huge impact on how and why we live our lives the way we do today. Some have even risked their lives by disobeying the law so they can accomplish what they feel is right, and some have made a difference even without putting their life on the line.Walt Disney was very influential to U.S culture in the 1950’s because a lot of major animated movies were released in this decade, the construction of Disneyland was started and finished and many other non-animated projects during this decade.

The 1950’s was when the baby boomer generation was at its peak. Many Americans wanted to have children because they were confident that the future was going to be very peaceful and bright. Almost as soon as

World War II ended, developers such as William Levitt began to buy land on the outskirts of cities and use mass production techniques to build houses. Another important part of the 1950’s was the amount of African Americans who spoke out against inequality and injustice. African Americans had been fighting against racial discrimination for centuries and during that time in the Brown v. Board of Education case, the Supreme Court declared that “separate educational facilities” for black children were “inherently unequal.” which was a big step to for African Americans.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, at 1249 Tripp Avenue, in Chicago's Hermosa neighborhood. He was the fourth son out of five siblings. Disney was an American entrepreneur, animator, voice actor and film producer. A pioneer of the American animation industry, he introduced several developments in the production of cartoons.When Disney was younger he became very interested in drawing. He took art classes and got a job as a commercial illustrator at the age of 18. He moved to Hollywood in the early 1920s and set up the Disney Brothers Studio (which would later become The Walt Disney Company) with his brother Roy.

It would be very hard to not have heard about Disney because he has released so many different kinds of animations, but during the 1950’s Disney began to become less involved in the animation department, entrusting most of its operations to his main animators, the Nine Old Men, although he was always at story meetings. Instead, he started concentrating on other things. On a business trip to Chicago in the late 1940s, Disney drew sketches of his ideas for an amusement park where he envisioned his employees spending time with their children. These ideas developed into a concept for a larger enterprise which was to become Disneyland. Disney spent five years of his life developing Disneyland and created a new company, called WED Enterprises, to carry out the planning and production of the park. In March 1952 Walt Disney got permission to build Disneyland. Construction work started in July 1954, and opened in July 1955; the opening ceremony was broadcast on ABC, which reached 70 million viewers.The park was designed as a series of themed lands, linked by the central Main Street, U.S.A a replica of the main street in his hometown of

Besides animations and making Disneyland Treasure Island became the Walt Disney’s first all-live-action movie , and was soon followed by 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954), and The Shaggy Dog (1959),. The Walt Disney Studio was one of the first to take full advantage of television, producing its first TV special, One Hour in Wonderland, in 1950. Walt Disney began hosting a weekly anthology series on ABC named Disneyland after the park, where he showed clips of past Disney productions, gave tours of his studio, and familiarized the public with Disneyland as it was being constructed in Anaheim, California. In 1955, he debuted the studio's first daily television show, the popular Mickey Mouse Club, which would continue in many various takes into the 1990s,
