Slipping on Ice Have you ever had the misfortune of slipping on ice as soon as you walked out the door? Well I have and it was a very embarrassing moment of my life. This unexpected event would continue to have embarrassing effects throughout the next hour. To begin my story, I just woke up on Friday. The beginning of my day was as unsurprisingly average as every Friday except for the fact that it was Valentine's Day. I went to school and went to mass as every Friday. I was overjoyed just going to mass that day and I have no idea why I was so happy. Mass was normal as other masses, but I had a feeling something bad was going to happen. Yet I dismissed for just me worrying too much. My day was shaping up to be great. Even though my day was looking …show more content…
I remember crashing into the ground extremely hard and getting the wind blown out of me. When I got up I had awfully blurry vision and dizziness. As I tried to walk I remember it being hard to due to the dizziness, which I would assume how you would walk if you were under the influence. Regardless, I made to the classroom slowly. Yet, luck was not to be on my side in the next hour. My second embarrassment of the day was just as unforeseen as the first. When I sat down, my vision got even hazier then I thought was possible. I was getting hotter by the minute and ringing was steadily rowing in my ears. As candy was getting passed out, I passed out on my seat and landed on the floor. I woke up confused to why I was on the floor because to me it seemed liked I just blinked. Everyone was around me and staring which made my blood rush to my face from the embarrassment from slipping on the ice and passing out. The rest of the day consisted of people constantly asking me if I was okay, which annoyed more than people disturbing you when you are reading a fantastic book. These two unexpected events were one of the most embarrassing in my life. My
The next morning, it was such a strenuous struggle to rise from my bed, I could have sworn I had been lying in quicksand all night. Walking in school was like swimming in a thick marsh. I had nothing to look forward to. Thursdays used to be the greatest day of the week, but now, all Thursdays held was gloom. That day, all I knew was despair, and it smothered me. This went on until I met up with a friend o...
the door shut behind me, “ ugh its cold, oh wait let me in i forgot my jacket, no dang ok well i only live 3 blocks away so.. SLIP!
There is a fine line between, drawing inspiration from a piece, and plagiarizing from it. In the short story, “Ice Wagon going down the Street”, by Mavis Gallant, the piece revealed the struggle of adjusting to a new environment, and learning who and whom you truly are. The story, emphasizes the modern social caste, and a tale between a man named Peter and Agnes. The differences in their believes and achievements, an unlikely pair, who lead each other to finding their purpose. This great theme, and story line was replicate by a more recent author, Sadia Shepard writing the short story, “Foreign Returned”, who’s story line is uncannily similar to that of “Ice Wagon Going Down the Street”. Shepard tells the story, with Hassan and Hina, two Pakistani-Americans,
I woke up Tuesday morning excited for the day I was going to spend with my mom. I was sitting at the kitchen table drinking fresh coffee listening to my mom and aunt tease and joke around about how paranoid my mom was about doing well in her classes, my aunt was telling her that maybe now that I was there, she would relax a little bit and have some fun. Our plan was to go to one of mom's classes with her, and then on a tour of UNC and then we were going to go to dinner and a movie.
I tried to crouch down and pick up some speed and ended up doing an aerial front flip with a two point header right into a patch of ice crusted snow. I lay there for several minutes, wondering if the cold I felt was my body going numb. I had thought that that fancy trick had killed me, but it wasn't my time. It only left me with a bloody nose and a cut chin. I was very disappointed, I thought that at least a cracked vertebrae was deserving of my efforts.
I was so hyped that I finally learned Snowboarding. After all those years only going on small hills on my heel edge, I finally was doing toe edge. We went up the hill for a couple of more runs and just like you already know we got on the chairlift and put on our bindings once we got off. We went all the way to the right side of the hill and snowboarded down it. While I was going down my board hit a small ice ball and my board caught an edge and I landed hard on my board. If you were me in this exact situation I could tell you it hurt alot! Image getting kicked really really hard by someone now imagine that hundred times harder, that was the pain I was in. Max came up beside me and asked if I was ok. I looked at him and said “ my butt hurts so much” After a couple of minutes sitting there we got up and went down to hill. I looked at the clock and realized it was closing time. I went did a fist bump with Max and went home. Now you just read my narrative of me overcoming snowboarding and I can tell you I was so proud of myself. I succeeded because I had the determination to do
The day started off like any average day, I took a hot shower, got dressed and got prepared for the day. It wasn’t until I sat down and started eating my bowl full of cheerios with extra sugar, that I realized what was actually happening. Today would be the day I finally bought my first car, after a year of hard work and conservative economic decisions.
The things that people today know about the stages of development help in understanding the art work, its style and the meaning it is trying to convey to the viewer (Lapatin & Marina, pg.143. ) Naturalism evolved and eventually began to change during the late Minoan palace period (Richter 1912, pg 34). “Minoan naturalism was inhibited by ornamentation” (Friedrich, pg.143). Ornamentation is often separated in to two separate classes.
The same schedule repeated itself daily, until a girl named Jessica invited me to join her on the playground. She truly changed my life by speaking to me. Jessica passed away due to a brain tumor and the memory of her friendship has been with me ever since. I have learned how having someone encourage you can have an immense impact and I diligently try to give that experience to
The most embarrassing moment of my life though me an important lesson about how to ask for help when it is needed. Everyone has an extremely embarrassing experience that seems horrifically terrible at the time, but upon reflection becomes a completely hilarious occurrence in their life. This episode can be anything from falling down the grand staircase in high school, to splattering a pan of chicken in the walk-in cooler at work.
