Vocal Technique
All of us have a singing voice, but not everyone has developed a proper vocal technique or how to use that voice. If you ever have a chance to head out to a Karaoke Bar one evening, chances are you’ll witness a variety of passionate singers. But let’s be honest, some are less pleasing to the ear than others. The point is, there are so many naturally good singers out there that just don’t have the right technique. Even those with the proper training could very easily raise their level of sound and reduce the amount of effort they involved in sounding great.
Breathing: Try holding your breath and singing or even speaking. Clearly air is a major component to singing. When you are singing a melody the words are expressed quite
“Standard English was imposed on children of immigrant parents, then the children were separated from native English speakers, then the children were labeled “inferior” and “ignorant” (Hughes 70) because they could not speak Standard English. In addition to feeling inferior about their second language skills, these students also felt inadequate in regard to speaking their own mother tongues” (qtd in Kanae)
One of the most interesting aspects of She's Come Undone is the fact that it is written by a man but is told from a female's point of view. Because of his gender, it is impossible that Lamb could have experienced many of the hardships that Dolores must deal with in his novel. However, Lamb writes with a certain understanding of Dolores and her pain. In She's Come Undone, Lamb addresses issues often avoided by male authors, including female friendships and abortion. His convincing female voice has been critically acclaimed.
Tori Gresham also had a wonder voice that was enjoyable to listen to throughout the performance. I thought that the sound was just perfect. I was clearly able to hear, and understand each character thought the entire performance. Each character sang very well, and performed every performance to its fullest potential. There was not one character that disappointed me.
Every time my parents read to me, I tried to say the words along with them. As a result, anytime I had problems pronouncing a word, my mother made me sound the word out until I sounded it correctly. She told me to take each word, syllable by syllable.
On December 20, 2013 at a motivational conference for women in Austin, Texas, a woman by the name of Lizzy Velasquez delivered a heartfelt speech on the power of taking the negatives in life and turning them into positives. Velasquez is one of three people in the world that suffer from a rare syndrome that renders her impossible to gain weight. She talks about how because of this syndrome she was ridiculed, bullied and tormented both as a child and as an adult and was once referred to as the “ugliest woman in the world”, but took hold of those negatives, overcame them and turned them into positive goals for herself. Velasquez delivers a speech so compelling and strong witted that conveys a message of encouragement, tenacity and triumph, she believes in inner strength and defining yourself by the accomplishments, character and compassion that one possesses and not by their outer appearance. My analysis will focus on how Velasquez used the strategies of story-telling, inflection, expression, pauses and redundancy to connect and maintain her audience’s interest as well as evoke their sympathy. Employing the three divisions of speech, her introduction caught the audience’s attention; the body of her speech offered the substance of her position and her conclusion reinforced the idea she wanted to portray. this is not to say that I have much musical talent. I did perform in the choir in elementary school, and I played the flute for four years through middle school, but one day I came to a simple decision. When it comes to music, I am a much better enjoyer of it than a producer of it. When I am alone in the car, my sing-along-to-whatever-is-on-the-radio voice is fab-u-lous. However, as soon as any else climbs into the car with me my talent suddenly dwindles. My larynx doesn’t seem to appreciate an audience when it is trying to perform. Thus, my musical enjoyment stems directly from listening.
Throughout this semester I have learned many helpful things in this class in regards to how communication works, how to improve my personal skills, and how other people might perceive things differently than I do. The three concepts I have chosen are vocalics, pseudo listening and avoidance. These three are daily struggles for me and each time they were used previously, I didn’t really understand what all they entailed. I have been made much more aware of what these things are, and how often I use them day to day. Now that I have become more aware of my communication mistakes, I plan on working my hardest to improve upon them which will improve my relationships with my family, friends and significant other.
Sia Furler’s latest album, This is Acting, is unique and bold when compared to her previous released albums. During the promotion of Furler’s album the singer and songwriter revealed in actuality that each of her personally written songs and some co-written on the album had been rejected by various pop figures. The rejection of these songs by artist such as Beyoncé and Rhianna is what drew me to this album. It is not that I believe these ladies to be untalented, it is because of the rejection of the songs from mainstream artist such as their selves. Furler’s style has an earthy edge with a touch of a pop bluesy sound. Her voice has a raspy, roughness that seems to squeak or scratch when reaching higher pitches that seems controlled and intentional. That deliberate scratchy, slick voice brings an achiness
Majority of USA College students know some aspects about singing, but do they know what all goes into singing? For some people, singing is more than a hobby; it is their way of living. So, if the vocalists do not follow certain rules, the vocalist’s singing voice could be damage. Readers should know the quality of singing, but the readers should know people’s misconceptions about singing as well. To be a singer he or she must follow certain rules to singing and this will make his or her sing voice last longer. If vocalists do not take care of his or her own body, the singing voice could hinder him or her from the correct way of singing songs the proper way. Singing can be fun, but the vocalist has to work hard for his or her voice to sound beautiful.

Sing is about a city of humanoid animals, and a hustling theater producer. Koala Buster Moon is attempting to save his theater with a singing competition. The competition becomes grander than he prepared for and Buster is willing to anything to preserve his theater. After having an audition, Buster chooses five contestants. Those contestants are Mike, a mouse who sings smoothly as he cons, Ella, a timid teenage elephant who has an enormous case of stage fright, Rosita, an overworked, mother pig who takes care of a litter of 25, Johnny, a gangster gorilla who would rather sing than be part of his families felonies, and Ash, a teenage, punk-rock loving porcupine that wants a solo career. All of these animals take
In addition, some members have the difficulty in finding their voice pitch mainly from the part of soprano and bass wherein they cannot reach some of their parts. In choral singing, it is also important for the members to atleast have an idea or know how to do basic note reading yet most of the members do not know how to do it. In the long run, this could create problems especially in terms of vocal training and vocal development. In order to prevent some of these conflicts, a training program is proposed to help them and give them more idea about vocal technique skills and especially choir technique
Using a gentle, clear, pleasing tone adds meaning and emotion to vocal quality. This will enhance
This is giving a bad impression of you to the audience that you're not confident. Normal and measured breathing is a sign that you’re confident and under control. Before going in front of people, concentrate on taking a few, slow breaths.
The fact that you have a talent does not make you skilled. It takes hard work to develop skills and to make talent effective. As a speaker, I put in some hours to work on my radio presentations, video productions and article compositions. I get up at the crack of dawn and go to bed in the early hours of the morning. It was the work ethic that put me in front of people to become a paid speaker and coach. Some people think if you teach others a secret method that is working; it’s going to get saturated. It doesn’t matter how much to love to give people solutions and to help them to get out of their situations, some people are wired to live in the land of excuses.
