A point comes in your life where the home isn't suitable to live in anymore. Emotional attachment or fear of the unknown is a hindrance, yet you must listen to the home's warning signs. Before you contact a Mission Viejo Real Estate agent for a new home, examine the home and determine if these five signs apply to you. Overwhelming repair work Holes in the walls, roof, and floor attract rodents, rain, mold, and mildew. A poor plumbing system skyrockets the water bill while faulty electrical outlets are hazardous. Non-working necessities and broken windows/doors are also problematic. If the repair work costs more than the home is worth, it's time to move. Bad neighborhood Peaceful neighborhoods can turn dangerous. Unruly families and single people will enter a neighborhood and bring violence, excessive noise, and uncontrolled children with them. for a safer neighborhood. Neighborhoods can also change due to school zoning changes (making the neighborhood more crowded) or new development construction (a mall or shopping center near the house).
If those changes are happening, move out. Too much space Empty nesters and divorced people understand the phrase 'too much space.' A large home is small because of the children, spouse, and guests walking around. After the children move out to college or a divorce, the home becomes what it really is - large. It's one less person occupying the space. Large homes are harder to clean and eat up utility bills. If your home is so large you hear echoes, it's time to downsize. Insufficient space Small homes feel cramped when your belongings fill the space. Add children and guests with their belongings and massive problems arise. There's difficulty moving around freely when you must maneuver around belongings to perform daily routines. Even if you toss out unwanted and unnecessary belongings, if you cannot find a good place to put necessary items, it's time to
move. Long commute time The distance to and from work eats up time and (gas) money. The time wasted on the road is more profitable at home. Commute time to local amenities and back home is also a hindrance. Reduce the time by moving to a neighborhood closer to local amenities and the job. If you see the signs, it's time to move. It's impossible to move in 24 hours, but taking action is better than staying in an unhealthy, unstable, dangerous, and overcrowded environment. The safe, stable, and healthy home with plenty of breathing room is right around the corner.
The book In the Neighborhood, by Peter Lovenheim is a very interesting look into the lives of residents in modern suburban neighborhoods. His neighborhood in Rochester New York mirrors many communities across the country. He paints a familiar picture of a community that waves at each other as they drive by, yet do not know the person they are waving at. This disconnection of people that live their lives so close to one another was completely unnoticed by Lovenheim until tragedy struck his community. One night in 2000, a routine activity that Lovenheim practiced, walking his dogs, exposed his consciousness to the lack of association he shared with those who live in close proximity to him. As he approached his street he observed emergency vehicles
Gentrification makes way for safe neighborhoods that were once considered to be unsafe because of crime. Areas such as Echo Park, East LA, and Bed-Stuy, once notorious for being some of the most dangerous places in the United States are now safer than ever because of the changes brought by gentrification. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, “…gentrification can cause an initial increase in crime because neighborhood change causes destabilization, although in the long run gentrification leads to a decline in crime as neighborhood cohesion increases.” (2016, HUD USER). The arrival of new members of the community and the changes they bring creates unrest in the form of crime.
Upon renovating the quaint little house on the hill with my mom, my own feelings toward the house changed dramatically. Before the project took off, I hesitated to step foot inside the building. The odor and dim lighting made it difficult to envision a successful result, but once we finished I was tempted to move in myself. This is the goal. Taking on this second project, I’d do my best to make the house one I’d love to live in while not allowing myself to implement my personal style preferences. The result is a home both move-in ready and open for visitors.
The deterioration of residential homes is common throughout the years due to wear and tear from everyday usage. The cost to prevent this deterioration is usually minimal and does not skyrocket into the hundreds of thousands of dollars for routine maintenance. In addition, the construction of residential homes has improved throughout the years; hence, not as many repairs are required over time. Engineers have developed better concepts of how homes will stand up against the elements and big box stores encourage the homeowners to repair and do their own maintenance on their standard house. However, there are residential homes that are nonconforming and their architectural designs are of those who have brought these homes into the forefront of Modern Architecture. One who is most noteworthy and is synonymous with residential homes is Frank Lloyd Wright. Known for his unique style of residential design, Frank Lloyd Wright was ahead of his time, however, the materials he used in these designs have proven to be unsustainable and cost hundreds of thousands, even millions, of dollars to homeowners for their preservation.
The tiny house movement is quickly spreading across America. Many people are discovering the simple, less materialistic life of owning a tiny home. Such people are finding that tiny homes are the best form of living because it is cost effective, environmentally friendly, and energy efficient. They boast the beginning of an adventure filled life, without the stress of modern living.
A simpler, easy-going way of life is being adopted by people young and old, single and married, employed and not so, across the nation. Tiny houses are residential buildings typically less than 600 square feet – larger than a shed, but not quite big enough to be called a cottage. They have nearly all the facilities and rooms a regular home has, but in a more compact area, without all the “excess” space. This trend of down-sizing, also known as the Tiny House Movement, isn’t a new one. Rather, it’s the revival of a past idea. In the 1950’s the average American single-family home was 980 square feet. As of 2009, that average has increased by 275% to an enormous 2,700 square feet. Garages take up about 15% of that size while appliances fill another 10%. American refrigerators are double the size of those in Europe, and use enough energy to power six televisions for 10-12 hours per day (Strobel). The purpose of tiny houses is to reduce the amount of space in one’s home in order to reduce the amount of clutter in one’s life – to realize what is a w...
De-cluttered interior design also applies to blankets and pillows. While they are convenient to have lying around, they take up a lot of space in a room and make it look cluttered. You might try keeping a wicker basket or box in a

Australian Haccmaker remarked that space efficiency was the key. “A modern house uses every inch of space. Every inch has a purpose…a modern house is thrifty to build…roof lines are plain construction details…, which was strictly limited to 1250 sqaure feet(115m2) 4.
Because the house is small I needed to incorporate flexibility and multi-functionality. For example, the moveable barn door divides the living room from the bedroom entrance as well as hides the television set and built in cupboards.
Rattling window panes, mold and mildew (much less rot), missing pieces -- when you find something wrong, promptly note it and repair or call a professional.
It is always the desire of many homeowners to have his or her home office well-organized. Many people know that there is no other way to become more productive than having organized home offices. When the home office is well-organized there are many things one would gain from that. It would help the person in easing the type of work he or she is doing; this is because it helps in doing the work better and faster. When the office is clustered it would become extremely difficult for the person to focus or concentrate on the work he or she is doing. The problem like looking for one office material or the other would always be there; this is because the place is in a mess. There are some negative implications to this. One of them is that the person would spend more time in getting small tasks done. He or she could be losing money in the process. The worst is that it makes the person stressful which has some negative health implications. The only way out of all these is to have a well-organized home office. Here are some simple steps to organizing the home...
...hed. There is more than enough space to puts furniture and fitment decorations. Small house, on the other hand, have a distinguish direction of design. According to the needs of the owner, small house has to carry its special characteristic, which is, space efficiency. The most famous design of space usage is a small apartment in Hong Kong. The designer has to deal with a space with a size of a one-car garage. For purpose of saving space, the designer hid most of the furniture like the bed and dining table and other electrical equipment in the wall. So they can get out of the way if they are not needed. The most interesting part of the design is people can never tell where is all the furniture. The room looks neat and also is fully functional. Instead of boring structure in the big house, this small house only feature really adds a big advantage on the small house.
Most department stores sell tiny dressers with several drawers to them. They are little enough to fit under the kitchen and bathroom sinks or up on top of closet shelves. Put labels on the front of them, so you know what is inside without having to search through them all. These are great for storing and organizing hygiene items, office supplies, or even underclothes. An added benefit of using a small dresser is that there will only be enough room for a few things, so it helps to reduce the amount of items that you keep.
The two neighborhoods that I chose to use for this assignment are vastly different. The main reason is because they are on opposite sides of the country. The first neighborhood that I visited is the one that I grew up in. This neighborhood is in Connecticut, on the East Coast, all the way across the country from the neighborhood that I currently live in here in West Hollywood. Most of my family lives in Connecticut and Massachusetts and I’m the only one who lives on the West Coast. A big difference is that the neighborhood in Connecticut has houses that are more spaced out, have larger lawns, and very many more trees. There are very few apartments there, unlike where I live now where my entire street is almost all apartment buildings.
When people find themselves in the problem of having no choice but to live in a small home/apartment new ideas must be thought of in order to organise everything, and most importantly, to fit all necessary furniture into the space to make it habitable (Lindqvist, K. 2014). Furniture pieces such as a bed, some sort of table to eat and work at and storage
