Life is short, and also very precious to forget so value it to the fullest. Take every opportunity you have that will benefit you and even sometimes others. To me just do what you love no matter what anybody says. Life is about believing yourself if you don’t believe yourself then you will never get anywhere. Take life seriously, don’t mess around because one day it will come back on you and it will tear you apart. This is well illustrated by the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, Roger Ebert, by Chris Jones, The Lady with the Dog, by Anton Chekhov, What Is the Value of a Human Life? By Kenneth Feinberg, and lastly but not least, you’ve got to find what you love; Jobs says, by Steve Jobs.
In Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, in most of his young life he was always depressed. But he never stopped loving Ophelia, he loved her no matter what anyone said. Ophelia’s father never wanted them to be together he thought Hamlet was crazy and depressed all the time and was just going to hurt Ophelia. Hamlet and Ophelia may have said some hatred things to each other but they never meant it, that’s just what happens when you’re in love. My life relates to this pretty much exactly. There is this girl that I really like may even love but there was always one problem, her parents didn’t like me. So I kept fighting for her and fighting for her and I knew one day that we would be together. Then about two years later finally we were given a chance I finally won over her parents respect. I’ve honestly never been happier, the wait was worth every second of my life. What hamlet has taught me was to never give up on love and to just follow my dreams. Even though it didn’t end the same for Hamlet I know that he loved her and she loved him but it just ...

...wants to do that. This article has made me believe that I can do what I want and all I have to do is try and to just believe and make it happen.
In conclusion, all these articles and stories have really meant something to me but in all different great ways. The most inspiring ones were defiantly, you’ve got to find what you love, by Steve Jobs, and Roger Ebert, by Chris Jones. But don’t get me wrong Hamlet, by William Shakespeare, what is the value of a human life, by Kenneth Feinberg, and the lady with the dog, by Anton Chekhov were very helpful and helped realized what life is really about. All of these really helped me see that life is really what you make of it and to never give up in what you believe in. No matter what it is, if it’s love or if it’s what you want to be in life to just keep going and to just make it happen and honestly live life to the fullest.
Life is not important except in the impact it has on other lives. (Jackie Robinson)
While Hamlet may still be feeling depressed Hamlet moves into the stage of denial and isolation. Hamlet feels the effects of denial and isolation mostly due to his love, Ophelia. Both Hamlet’s grief and his task constrain him from realizing this love, but Ophelia’s own behavior clearly intensifies his frustration and anguish. By keeping the worldly and disbelieving advice of her brother and father as “watchmen” to her “heart” (I.iii.46), she denies the heart’s affection not only in Hamlet, but in herself; and both denials add immeasurably to Hamlet’s sense of loneliness and loss—and anger. Her rejection of him echoes his mother’s inconstancy and denies him the possibility even of imagining the experience of loving an...
Often, people take the time they have with their loved ones for granted. Hamlet did not realize how much he loved Ophelia until she was gone forever. Although Hamlet's feelings towards Ophelia vary throughout the play, he has always loved her.
In the play Hamlet, Ophelia’s downfall is dependent on love. Being one of the two women in the play, Ophelia lives in a very male dominated society. When the ties are broken between her relationships with the significant men in her life, it breaks Ophelia to
Steve Jobs is trying to say that you should live every day like it is your last. He knew his life had value to him and his family. He felt like life was worth living even though once in a while a hard choice would come along to toughen his life. Making a choice is very hard, but when making a choice it should be one that you will not regret later in life. Making choices is one of the hardest things in life so you must see all the good and all the bad to the outcome of your options. Live everyday like it is your last. Ebert says that life is a very precious thing. Hamlet wants to die, but him not knowing what is on the other side scares so he decides to live. Even though Ebert had to get surgery, he got through it and learned to still live his life with no regrets.
come with a goal in life - to succeed on it. With that kind of mentality I
Love in Hamlet is often depressing, even though love is wanted by all. What is the point in loving somebody if they are going to die anyway? When Hamlet denies his love to Ophelia she is hurt because she had believed that she had once been loved. She finds that she has never been loved, and may never find someone to love her which hurts her. Hamlet confesses his love at the death of Ophelia. He says “I loved Ophelia. Forty thousand brothers/ could not with all their quantity of love/ Make up my sum. What wilt thou do for her?” (5.1 285-288). He does not want Ophelia to be dead because he wants her love back. Love does not always occur between a guy and girl in an intimate relationship. Love can happen between family members also. Hamlet has a strong love for his parents and is hurt to see them either die, or fall into a scheme of Old Hamlet’s brother in-law. Without love in our lives we would feel almost neglected by the world. After Hamlet’s father dies he desires his father’s love and comfort that he is unable to get. He turns to his mother after his father’s death and is turned away by her because she has other things to focus on rather than the grieving of Hamlet. Hamlet feels hurt by his mother’s actions and is jealous that she appears to love Claudius and not her own son. Love can often be depressing and hurtful, or happy and joyous but no matter wh...
Two of Ophelia’s difficulties arise from her father and brother. They believe that Hamlet is using her to take her virginity and throw it away because Ophelia will never be his wife. Her heart believes that Hamlet loves her although he promises he never has (“Hamlet” 1). Hamlet: “Ay, truly, for the power of beauty will sooner transform honesty from what it is to a bawd than the force of honesty can translate beauty into his likeness. This was sometime a paradox, but not the time gives it proof. I did love you once.” Ophelia: “Indeed, my lord, you made me believe so.” Hamlet: “You should not have believed me, for virtue cannot so inoculate our old stock ...
What is the value of a person’s life? Is one person’s life worth more than another’s? Is someone else’s life worth as much as our own? These are questions that cannot and most likely never will completely answered. At least they cannot be answered easily. There are far too many factors, variables, and opinions to consider when attempting to answer them. The story Touching the Void, by Joe Simpson, addresses many themes in the story such as survival, facing challenges, friendship, among others. For me, the issue that stood out was the idea of placing a value on a person’s life. This paper will look at the “lessons” regarding the value of human life found in the story and how the readers can consider those lessons with regards to everyday life.
Last night, George W. Bush, the President of the United States, announced a compromise policy on Federal support for stem cell research. His announcement made few people happy because it cut a path straight down the middle of the issue and carefully avoided making any significant ethical decisions about it.
Ophelia loves Hamlet; her emotions drive her to perform her actions. Some would say that Ophelia’s emotions could have actually been what ended her young
One of Hamlet’s major theme is love and that is the backbone of what causes our species to reproduce and that has stayed consistent from Shakespeare’s time to ours. The importance of love within Hamlet isn't simply the inclusion of love but rather how people react to it. Ophelia’s confusion, “crazy talk” and eventually suicide was all a result of the love she was experiencing from Hamlet and
Through out the course of the past 5 days I learned a lot. I learned that the internet is not a place only meant to read about horrible news stories or read hate comments on social media or even maybe admire all the people you wish to be. I learned that it is a place where, if you dig deep enough, you can find a caring and helpful community. You can find a place where you can become what you want. I learned that when life doesn't go your way take actions so it does go your way. I learned that even when things seem useless or helpless, they aren't, because their is always a path. I learned to not sit around and wait for life to go by, but to take actions so I can live a life that I want to. I have finally started these actions.
"You must constantly ask yourself these questions: Who am I around? What are they doing to me? What have they got me reading? What have they got me saying? Where do they have me going? What do they have me thinking? And most important, what do they have me becoming? Then ask yourself the big question: Is that okay? Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.”
Another article I read over the semester was by Christine Hauser. The article was about four men who chose to rape a 9-year-old girl. To me, it is unbelievable how these men think it is acceptable to do that. That little girl is never going to forget what they did to her, she’s going to live with that her whole life. It is great how in this situation with the rape occurring, the community all came together and was all affected by what happened. Many people were mentioning how these four men should not even go to jail because the community wanted to punish them on their own. It helps to have a good support system, and with the whole community available to defend you really does make a difference. If only people stood up more than they do now, it could all reflect back on who we are and how we should treat
