Unwanted Babies
“The most horrible war of all has gone all but unnoticed. This is a war going on within our own borders, and it has claimed 58 million American lives in the last 44 years” (TFP Student Action n.pag.). Abortion comes from the women not being responsible for the mistakes they make, even when there are other options. Pain is for the fetuses during the surgery and it is gruesome and harmful. Murder is a crime that is being committed every day to the innocent babies. Abortion is not beneficial for women and fetuses because a woman's role is to be responsible for herself and to be responsible for her choices, it is affecting fetuses in harmful ways, and it is murder.

choices. Everybody makes mistakes but they also need to deal with the consequences to learn from their mistakes. For instance, according to abortion procon.org, “Women should not be able to use abortion as a form of contraception... It is immoral to kill an unborn child for convenience…Conceptions rose by 6 percent, indicating that many women were using abortion as a method of birth control, a crude drastic sort of insurance Police” ( abortion procon.org n.pag.). Convenience is to help yourself and meanwhile the fetuses are being used as a form of stopping pregnancy. Conceptions is the regarding of the baby from birth, so they use abortion as a way to get out of being pregnant. Therefore, According to Deem Rich studies show that, “More than 95% of all abortions are performed purely for convenience” (Deem, Rich n.pag.). Contraception is made for prevention of babies in the pills, condoms, and other medicines when having sex. Convenience is the easy path out of a bad situation, therefore everyone should take caution before taking a leap into a path they are not ready for. Convenience is one reason why women use abortion, however they do not understand the people they are hurting during this process. Women are having to deal with the temporary while the baby deals with the permanent. Furthermore, according to abortion procon.org, explains that, “In require of her sickness, fatigue, reduced mobility, an enlarged body, and a new wardrobe. Fortunately is not a permanent condition… Abortion costs the unborn child his or her very life and it is a thoroughly permanent condition… It is not an issue of who is more important, but rather who has more on the line” (“The rights of a Woman…” n.pag.). Compared to that, when there is someone on the top of the mountain about to fall off and there was someone on a little pebble about to fall off who should be saved first? It is the same as the baby that is being aborted and losing their life, compared to a mom that is just needing to go shopping and get a little bump. In addition, according to abortion procon.org states that, women have a choice to put them up for adoption when they are unprepared in this situation. (abortion procon.org n.pag.). There are more choices to choose from than just skipping to abortion.
For instance according to “The rights of the women do not…” , “Women normally can continue school and work during pregnancy. If she chooses to raise the child herself, there are childcare options available” (“The rights of the women do not…” n.pag.). This shows there are more options that can help; there is never only one way out of a problem. You may even look toward your mom and dad for other options like nannies. Other options may be the case for what to do with a baby. Meanwhile you must think about the world around you, and this might seem like it would not impact the world a lot, but every decision you make impacts the world tremendously. Likewise, according to abortion procon.org, studies show that, “Abortion promotes a culture in which human life is disposable… The legalization of abortion sends a message that human life has little value… When we tell one another that abortions okay, we reinforce the idea that human lives are disposable, that we can throw away anything or anyone that inconveniences us” (abortion procon.org n.pag.). Trash is disposable not a human's life, where people have so many different ways to live for, and everyone makes
an impact on the world. For example, from journalists at publications they discovered that “ Thousands of partial-birth abortions were being done annually, primarily on healthy mothers and healthy babies” (Wills, Susan E. n.pag.). From this example abortion is impacting the world, so you choose whether or not you want to impact the world in a negative or positive wa. Humans are not garbage it is not right to just throw them away when you want. These women impact the world, themselves, and the baby when she makes the life changing decision to take the dark path of abortion. Overall, having more options leads to responsibility and choices that may not lead you in the right direction.
Abortion is definitely not a decision that should be taken lightly at all, it is in fact a scary thing that may not be the answer for many women. Many stories submerge of women who turn their life around and become an alpha provider for their children and are grateful they didn’t go through with an abortion. According to the New Yorker, “Some women will regret having had an abortion, just as some will regret having a baby, getting married, dropping out of school, or a thousand other life choices that people make.” But regret is inevitable in life and the option is better than no option at all for a woman. The fact that the opinion is there woman matters because in America, land of the free the option to vote hasn't always been there, the option to pursue a career or the, point being options matter cause without them we wouldn't be free.
Abortion, which is defined as a deliberate termination of a human pregnancy, is one of the most controversial issues in society. Many people believe that abortion is unethical and morally wrong, while others believe that it is a woman’s right to decide what to do with her body. According to www.census.gov, “the number of abortions performed annually in the U.S. has leveled off at 1.2 million a year” (1). This statistic supports how many women are choosing abortion. Although abortion is legal in the United States, many people continue to voice their opinions on how it is a human rights violation and should be illegal everywhere.
For some, abortion is a touchy subject like politics and religion. In America, abortion has always been a controversial topic of discussion. The Supreme Court in the case Roe vs Wade case set the way of guidelines and the right for women to have an abortion if she chooses. In 2015 abortions is still an ongoing debate amongst religious groups, politicians and normal citizens. People that are for the rights of women to abort are often criticized and ridiculed for standing up for their personal beliefs. There are people who have conditioned their minds to think that women should not be allowed to have abortions if she was not raped or a result of incest, which I strongly disagree with that type of thinking. However, it is the law of the land, it is a women’s right to choose and she has to live with the psychological effects of her choice.
People often use the topic of abortion because they are issues for young women. “Among many younger feminists, the matter of abortion rights is looked upon as part of a ‘reproductive justice’ that includes access to birth-control and improving health care for the poor and minority women.” (Fouhy N.P. 1) Even though abortion is a choice sometimes it’s not an option due to multiple circumstances such as financial reasons, age, and parental consent. The legalization of RU-486 allows women the opportunity to make a choice regarding having an abortion. This drug has given women a new way to keep abortion a personal and private event. The pill and water has made the word “choice” a meaningful definition. (Quindlen 60) Women should have the right to decide whether having an abortion is a feasible choice. The government should not have the legal right to dictate what a woman can do to her body. It is her body so the choice should be hers after
Supreme Court decided to legalize abortion throughout the country. Before that day abortion was illegal in almost all states. Woman then had a constitutional right to get an abortion no matter the reason anytime during the pregnancy. The Women’s Rights movement was designed to make sure women were entitled to an opinion and was treated equally in society but how are women treated equally if they can’t have a choice to remove something out of their life that is unwanted? Equality means that everybody is entitled to a right without discrimination no matter what it is. Many women become pregnant and the baby is unwanted. Majority don’t have the money to survive while raising a child and many can’t provide the love needed to raise a child. A lot of these children often grow up in poor environments which decreases their chances of better possibility to have a brighter future socially and economically. This is why I believe abortion should continue to be legal. Minimum suffering for many children and minimum suffering for many
Abortion may be one of the most controversial topics in America today. Abortion is defined as “the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in, or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus” (cite dictionary). There are really only two sides on people’s opinion on abortion; pro-life which means abortion should be outlawed and pro-choice which means a woman should be able to decide whether she wants to keep her baby. Thousands of protests and riots have begun due to the fact pro-life activists believe abortion should become illegal. Both sides bring valid points to support their decision that could sway any person’s thoughts. The Roe v. Wade law has allowed abortion to be legal in the U.S since 1973 (Chittom & Newton, 2015). The law “gives women total control over first trimester abortions and grants state legislative control over second and third trimester abortions” (Chittom & Newton, 2015). Ever since the law was put in place, millions of people have tried to overturn it and still
In my freshman year of high school, I had taken an ROTC class. My instructor brought up in a discussion on opposing abortion or not. The students in my class disagreed with the right of abortion, while I quietly sat back and listened to their opposing views. They thought of abortion as murder, and considered that there are other alternatives to take other than that route. Later on, I remember my mother and I both agreed to abortion having its reasons to be considerable. That the reality of keeping a child is being able to financially support the baby, house-hold family issues that abide by certain morals by life’s standards, and the mother of the child may still being school, which leads to a stressful environment. Later on the discussion of abortion was brought up again when attending Bowie State in my health class. By watching a video, I learned how more people involved in a group called pro-life opposed abortion because it was looked at as a form of murder. I disagree because the baby isn’t fully born yet, and if aborting a chil...
...ther’s sovereignty over her body outweigh the right of an unborn child to live. The answers to these questions are very diverse as a result of the diversity of the American society. With the issue of abortion, one’s attitude toward it is going to be based on many things such as religious background and personal morals. There is no black and white answer to the abortion issue. Luckily we live in a country where we are able to decide for ourselves whether something is morally right or wrong. Thus, ultimately, the choice is ours. As with the many other ethical issues which we are faced with in our society, it is hard to come to a concrete answer until we are personally faced with that issue. All we can do is make an effort to know all of the aspects which are involved so that we may be able to make a sound decision if we were faced with this problem in our own lives.
Some doctors would say that the fetus is only a potential human being, John M. Swomley stated “because the fetus feels no pain, a function of the brain as yet undeveloped”, therefore no harm is being done towards the fetus. Many advocates would agree towards doctor Swomley’s statement compared to Christianity Today stating “ It is violence against children, a hideous act of poisoning or dismembering tiny bodies, then dumping them in a landfill or garbage disposal”. The biggest benefit of abortions are that the number of unwanted children are decreasing, with doctors philosophy of having good medical abortions that protect health and fertility, make abortions possible. This has been a tremendous achievement in individual health, helping women gain more dignity, therefore making our society more “responsible”. A woman’s choice allows them to become more empowered, it liberates them, and benefits their society even more.
Many people have their own opinions on abortion, that a fetus is a human being with a right to live so abortion is similar to murder. While other groups argue that a woman has certain rights, especially the choice whether to bring another life into the world. The groups that are for it think that abortion gives women the control over their own bodies, which it is their choice when and whether to have children or giving an option to choose to bring or not to bring a child with abnormalities to the world. Some children are born with severe disorders and some parents, being unable to care for their disabled child seek abortion as their one and only option because taking care of a child, especially born with abnormalities is tough work to do as a parent, so they decide whether bring a life into the world. They look ahead on what is best for them, and it is selfish. Or even having in mind that some do not want to become a single parent taking up two roles; a mother and father and they feel like every child should come into the world feeling wanted, loved and cared for. Another reason some women have an abortion is because they do not want to stop work or schooling, and these reasons are consistent across many countries, including America. Other reasons are because of societal pressures, women get little to no social support. But
Some women have accepted the definition that a woman’s prime role as wife and mother is to have control of one’s own body and mind (Reardon 3) .Once they had choices about life roles, they felt that they had the right to choose abortion or not. Any and every woman should have the ability to choose when to have a child in their lives. Many women feel that if they did not have the right to choose an abortion, they would have passed by many opportunities to create a better life for themselves. Some people might not agree with their decisions, but in the ends it is theirs.
Through every choice in life, there is a decision that must follow. Abortion is a woman’s individual choice; therefore, must be a legal part in todays society. Individual rights have an outstanding role in the controversial topic, on whether abortion should become legal in the United States . The individual rights for abortion show rights of life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. As well, women should be able to have the choice to choose to have an abortion for several important reasons. The right to make these decisions should lie in the hands of the “mother” to make decisions concerning their own to make decisions concerning their own bodies. In addition, women should be given the choice to have an abortion if they are too young and unable to take care their child financially or emotionally. Additionally, the right to have an abortion is if the pregnancy negatively affects the woman's or the baby's health. Without abortions as a choice for the “mother” to resort to while she is going through hardship on deciding whether to keep the baby or not, the endless possibilities could negatively influence the mother to put her and the baby in a dangerous positions.
A woman should not have the right to kill her own blood. Her own baby. Abortion is an act of violence that kills an innocent human being. Abortion should be illegal everywhere, (unless there is a life threatening matter that occurs). Everybody deserves the right to live. Abortion could end up causing a mental or emotional state in women. Some which may include depression and guilt. Some women could feel depressed after losing their baby. Only if the child was their first and the abortion was done as a medical procedure the woman had no control
First, I feel that abortion should be illegal because it can result in medical complications and also psychological trauma. It can cause premature birth and could also cause a baby to be handicapped in future pregnancies. A woman who has had an abortion is 2.3 times more likely to get cervical, ovarian, and or liver cancer. Abortion is the cause of 47,000 woman’s death yearly. It can cause depression for at
The sight of a mother cradling her newborn baby is a beautiful thing. The love in her eyes for her small vulnerable child is unmistakable. Women who have become a victim to abortion are not able to experience special moments such as these. Abortion impacts the health and well being of the women affected by it. It has become a common way for women to escape a difficult time in their life. At the time, abortion may seem like a good idea. Most women think that it will solve the current problem they are in; this is not the case. Abortion actually ends up creating more problems than the woman can solve. A large percentage of abortions are decided for social reasons; the baby is seen as a nuisance by the mother, she does not want people to think
