The Argumentative Essay: The Benefits Of Abortion

We live in a society where decisions are based upon opinions from others, and they hold our judgement. Throughout the years abortion has been a controversial topic whether abortion should be illegal and be held to higher consequences, or whether abortion should be pro-choice and women should have ethical reasons in order to get abortions. Abortion should be based upon the women’s choice with the circumstances they may find themselves in. The government, nor anyone has the right to tell a woman what she can and cannot do with her body. Many fatalities would occur if abortion was illegal. Abortion is a morality, and should not be legislated by the government.
Abortion gives women the ability control their lives, fertility, education, vocations, and their responsibilities over their families.

Some doctors would say that the fetus is only a potential human being, John M. Swomley stated “because the fetus feels no pain, a function of the brain as yet undeveloped”, therefore no harm is being done towards the fetus. Many advocates would agree towards doctor Swomley’s statement compared to Christianity Today stating “ It is violence against children, a hideous act of poisoning or dismembering tiny bodies, then dumping them in a landfill or garbage disposal”. The biggest benefit of abortions are that the number of unwanted children are decreasing, with doctors philosophy of having good medical abortions that protect health and fertility, make abortions possible. This has been a tremendous achievement in individual health, helping women gain more dignity, therefore making our society more “responsible”. A woman’s choice allows them to become more empowered, it liberates them, and benefits their society even more.

Activist say that abortion is murder, having scientist to prove human life becomes real as soon as the fermentation process beings. One of God’s commandments states “you shall not kill”, which is extended to unborn children. Church continues to teach the results or procreation from the moment of the child’s existence including body and spirit as well. Women are apparently conflicted when choosing to get an abortion, feeling psychologically forced to have an abortion, that the people who are responsible for the peer pressure fall on people who encourage the spread their attitude toward sexual permissiveness and their lack of esteem towards motherhood, and not only is the mother of the child being aborted responsible but the father as

well.
