1. Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is provided to help meet the educational needs of all students. UDL is researched-based and allows teachers to use a variety of materials and strategies to motivate and help students learn in the general education classroom. It assists teachers in providing instruction in various ways to a diverse classroom. UDL also allows students to demonstrate their knowledge in a variety of ways. UDL is based on three principles: representation which involves presenting material in different formats; action and expression which allows students to express what they have learned in different ways; engagement which helps motivate the students and gets them more interested by using different strategies and activities. …show more content…

Teachers must keep in mind the reason of the learning goal. Once they know the learning goal, they cannot limit the way in which the students learn and demonstrate their knowledge about a subject matter.
3. Lecture/notes on chalkboard
• Barriers- requires students to be able to see, hear, identify critical points, take notes, visually process and/or auditorally process information.
• UDL solution- allows students to use graphic organizers to take notes, you can also allow them to use digital text. Digital text can be converted to speech, and you can also increase the size of the text.

Handouts
• Barriers- requires students to be able to see, have visual processing, comprehend written text
• UDL Solution- allows students to use digital text to access information needed. Digital text can be converted to speech and you can also increase the size of the text.
Internet research
• Barriers- requires students to be able to see, visually process information, decode and comprehend written text
• UDL Solution- allow students to research info through other mediums such as books or videos.
Oral report
• Barriers- requires students to talk, organize ideas
• UDL Solution- allow students to demonstrate their knowledge in a way that is easier for them such as: a PowerPoint presentation, model, or a
