Community Service is important for many reasons. Taking part and volunteering teaches compassion and understanding. One of my favorite things about community service is that there are opportunities and choices right in your very neighborhood. You can volunteer for something you really believe and have an interest in, and can volunteer as much or as little as you'd like or have time for. Growing up with a very kind-hearted family, I've come to learn and understand the importance of community service. With several schools across the country incorporating community service in courses as a requirement for graduation, I would probably select volunteering at the Humane Society. I've helped at the Humane Society in Worland, Wyoming during several …show more content…
As a senior in high school, I have found many ways to be involved in very different community service events. My church has held community service projects involving the Humane Society, creating quilts for soldiers, opening new opportunities for minorities, and helping younger children with school work or at home issues. Different churches I have attended have contributed to the Food Bank, Senior Citizen Center, and the Victims of Violence. My favorite thing to do for community service was going out to the Humane Society, as I mentioned earlier. As I move through life I think I will always be involved in community service. Not just because I think it is important but because it is something I enjoy and look forward to. I love bringing joy and excitement through community service I feel happy that I can accomplish …show more content…
I think that many people have already taken away from the environment so it'd be nice to give back. If my high school was required to be involved in at least one act of community service I would strongly encourage the planting and care of the greenery. It's something that I enjoy and that is important to me so I think this would be a really good choice. Almost all community service is fun for me so I wouldn't really have an issue selecting one thing to do. Even the more gruesome tasks give you an accomplished feeling. Have you ever gone out on the bike path with your dog and they end up emptying whatever is inside their body? Hopefully, you'd be kind enough to not want anyone to step in it. Most people bring bags with them to pick up the mess; however, some people come unprepared and have nothing to pick up their pet's mess with. Once, for another community service act dog 'stands' that have multiple baggies in them were set up to help pet owners. Purchasing the stands and setting them up spaced out along the bike path. It's efficient and comes in handy for many people, even without receiving any type of payment from anyone in the city- complete volunteer work. Being so generous without any ulterior motives is what makes community service so pure and
I feel that the importance of service is to help a person in need because you could change someone's life, not because you feel that you need to. People who love what they are doing are the people who effect everything around them.Service has impacted my life because it makes me a better person. My family feels the impact, the community feels the impact, even servicing for a few hours a week affects the people around you. It makes the community a better place to live.
Growing up, my parents and other influential figures around me modelled the importance of community service through their continual volunteer work and dedication to improving the world around them. Whether it be participation in a well-attended project or persistent contribution to a helpful organization, those aforementioned individuals were formative in guiding me towards a path filled with opportunities for having an impact on my community.
I think that community service is something that everyone should do. Some people only do community service because they need the hours for school or an extracurricular activity, but when you something nice for another person, it not only makes you feel 100 times better about yourself, it also, whether you know it or not, improves another person's life. Being able to give to another person without expecting anything in return is the best quality that a person can have because the 21st century is a time where a portion of people have what they want at their fingertips. What some people don't realize is that not everyone has the blessings of living the life that they have, that is why I try so hard to give back to the community. I personally do community service a lot, and seeing the faces of the people that I have helped means so much to me because I know deep down that I have done something that required me to put others needs before my own. I get that feeling when I help out in the special needs class at my school. I feel complete when the students give me hugs and thank me for my help. That feeling motivates me and makes me a happier person. Even when all I can do for another person is make them smile, I feel like I have done something important that has helped someone more than I
I am dedicated to helping out our community and school, because it warms my heart and soul. Seneca said in about 40 to 60 A.D. that you should “be silent as to services you have rendered, but speak of favors you have received.” In other words you should not boast about the numerous projects you have accomplished and how much physical work you executed, but rather pride yourself on how you helped people in community and school, and how you have affected their lives with positive means. I feel life is joyous and it should be the feeling everyone illustrates, and this is exactly what keeps me functioning in the stressful world today. I find comfort in helping others to make their lives a little more like heaven and this comfort motivates me to perform copious service projects to the best of my capability whenever I find the time. Time is fair to the rich, the poor, and to every race, because time is equal and gives everyone 24 hours daily to accomplish their required tasks. Because time is so valuable and I am occupied by difficult advanced placement and honor classes and juggle school, clubs, sports, and friends, I joined Key Club, a high school division of the adult service club, Kiwanis. Key Club opened new doors to make every extra minute count towards helping others.
My senior year of high school alone, I completed over 160 hours of community service. Being a full-time student and a part-time worker, unfortunately does not allow for much spare time, but whenever I do have a chance, I always volunteer through my youth group in church. One of my biggest goals in life is being able to give back to the community on a much bigger scale. Ultimately, I hope to even go full circle and give scholarships to Hispanic student like me.
"Act as if what you do makes a difference. It does." is a quote that comes from William James, a great philosopher. This quote is saying that your actions do make a difference, no matter how small, and no matter if you think they make a difference or not. Every little thing you do has an impact somewhere, on someone, and on something. Actions do speak louder than words, and you never know how far down the line those actions will be felt. Community service is a great thing to put time and energy into. There are a lot of positive impacts that are made by individuals who contribute to community service projects. There are many different associations and activities that one can volunteer for to help out the community. I have done many different
I find myself extremely passionate in Community Service, I have volunteered at Emmanuel Apostolic Church during Vacation Bible School for the past two summers, preparing food, coming up with creative ideas to keep children occupied, and making sure children are safe. During this time my leadership and conversational skills have strengthened. In addition to that, I have also volunteered there on numerous occasions to feed the homeless. In high school, I also volunteered at an Elderly home on bingo night to interact with the elderly, gave a listening ear, it was extremely rewarding to see them smile, laugh, and interact with me as if they had known me for a while; that showed me how much they appreciate having company. I take huge delight in
My responsibilities during my community service were as followed: I go to the synagogue Montreal Torah Center down my street. They have a group for teens my age called Cteens. It is a group where lots of teens my age come and do something different each time to help the community. This year my friend Anabelle and I got invited to participate. Considering it is a Jewish synagogue, we sometimes base what we do on the holidays. To me, community service is simply helping out your community or city. I always thought that ‘hey, what will one basket make a difference to a child’ but one time I actually went to deliver the basket to whom I made it for. The smile on the child’s face showed me that one basket does actually make a difference and...
Community Service is a great opportunity to make a difference in the area you live in. There are so many ways to volunteer. Some people are given chances to do community service when they need to pay off fines for tickets. Most people simply do because they love getting involved. It’s their way of making the community a cleaner, healthier place.
Community service: What a wonderful opportunity for students! A chance for our younger citizens to learn responsibility, experience the satisfaction that comes with helping others and to acquire new skills.
Volunteering is an important contributor to our society. It is also a great opportunity to learn different skills, especially young people, and they will become a part of who you are. Your future employers will thank you for it, as will any college or university that you decide to apply too. It is also a perfect way for everyone to meet different people and experience different things. Volunteering not only actively will help people; it also helps the environment. Most of all, it allows you to become a better person for what you have
Thousands of homeless animals are looking for forever homes in America. Volunteering is a great way to give to your community and socialize the animals at the shelters. Working with dogs and cats that have not had good starts in their lives helps them trust again. It helps animals get over the trauma they have had before they went to the shelter. Socializing makes the animal more adoptable and they are given a chance to get forever homes. Volunteer at your local humane society 's and help out the animals like I have worked with in shelters.
Without community service, people would not know the meaning of charity and giving back. Community service can be defined as a service that is performed for the benefit of the public. Community service is not a responsibility or an obligation; it is a commitment. A person must want to do it with good intentions and not because they are being forced to do so. Basically, community service is a way for a person to give back to the community in which they live.
Fulfilling community service by volunteering has so many positive effects on the community. Serving in the community builds character and unity within the community.... ... middle of paper ... ... Mandating community service for high school graduation was the best idea anyone could ever invent.
I used to hate community service. I only did it if it was a requirement for graduation or for a program. Even when I did community service, I still waited until the very last opportunity to do it. When I heard the words community service, all I could picture is cleaning Philadelphia parks or streets that were filled with trash in either the cold or heat. My mind always went to that space because that 's what my first few encounters with community service consisted of. My high school always had us cleaning something; one time we re-landscaped the parking lot of a homeless shelter. Another time, we cleaned up the weeds out of the loading docks of the non-profit food bank Philabundance. One time my mom made me volunteer
