Type A Personality or Type A Behavior Pattern (TABP) include typical responses of competitiveness, time urgency, and hostility. Type A’s normally strive towards a goal without feeling a sense of joy in their efforts or accomplishments. They also seem to be in a constant struggle against the clock and become impatient with any delays and unproductive time. Type A’s also tend to see the worse in others and display anger, envy and lack of compassion (McLeod, 2017).
When Type A’s experience stress, and it goes unchecked they can develop many stress-related physical problems such as hypertension, high cholesterol, and migraine headaches. This is exactly what is happening at Frank Taylor’s automobile dealership with a number of their high-achieving

According to Canyon Ranch (2016) one of the advantages to being a type A personality is “the inability to think on your feet” (2016). This means that is a little easier to slow down and take a step back. Use the moment in which you take a step back to take 10 deep breaths before moving on to anything else. While this may not be an easy task, it will help you to check your emotions, which will in turn help you to check your stress (Canyon Ranch, 2016). For a challenge, see how many deep breaths you can take before you absolutely need to move on with your day.
The second relaxation technique is meditation. According to Canyon Ranch (2016) “Listening to soothing sounds in a darkened room with nothing to think about but quieting your mind can feel like torture” to a person with type A personality. Type A’s do not need to take long periods of time to mediate. Even three minutes can do the trick and slow down brain waves and bring a sense of peace. Even better, you do not have to sit still, move around if you do not feel comfortable sitting still (Canyon Ranch

Kickboxing is offered at many local gyms and community centers. There are also many workout videos on YouTube. The second exercise I want to look at for Type A’s is strength training. Strength training includes lifting weights and working with specifically designed resistance equipment. This should only be done twice a week for about 20 to 45 minutes. Anything else can be extremely harmful, especially for a Type A. According to Ann Louise Gittleman (2005) when strength training Type A’s should use the SuperSlow protocol in which the weight is lifted in about 10 seconds and lowered in half that amount of time.
The third exercise is swimming. Go to your local community center and swim laps for 30 to 45. You can do this a few times a few or even daily to help reduce stress. In the same manner you can also try walking, hiking, biking, rowing, and stretching (Gittleman, 2005). All of these exercises do not release to many endorphins which will make a Type A become addicted to doing them like running or jogging

My primary goal to manage stress is to achieve balance. According to Deborah Davis Ph.D., author of The Adult Learner’s Companion (Davis, 2012,2007) , “Physical and emotional balance can be a key to reducing stress. When your body and mind are in sync and balanced, you feel and look better, you think clearer, and you are more productive”. She also states that “a balanced mind is focused, directed, organized, and calm”. I have gotten a lot better at finding balance, yet I still wrangle from time to time with feelings of anxiety, despa...

In the beginning of last year, I discovered that endless thoughts race through my mind without my control which caused me to be nervous all the time. On top of these unnecessary flashbacks, I basically have responsibilities like school and work that I have to balance. I can’t afford to lose focus. Every minute counts. I needed to do something. I needed a distraction, so I did my fair amount of research. I engaged in activities that would somehow ease my spirit, food for the soul: baking, cooking, reading, meditation, yoga, pilates, online shopping, movie binging, running, concerts. You name it. I like running the most because it blocks me out from reality. It’s like reading a book or when the lights go down at the stadium, the intro music starts to play and the stage lights up.
Even if it's just ten minutes a day, you can schedule time to take a breather and a break. During those ten minutes, enjoy a piece of chocolate and a candle. In addition to ten-minute increments, make sure to take time out each day to do something you enjoy. A bubble bath, a new recipe or a walk through the local bookstore for 30 minutes are a few of the great ways to relax and get some personal time. This will help you maintain your sanity.
Get yourself moving. There is power in perspiration that can defeat stress. A few push-ups, curl-ups and an hour or two of jogging can make a difference in your emotional state. Meanwhile, as you perform different types of physical activities, bad elements that are causing your stress are gradually reduced. It burns away your anger, frustration, and tension, especially at work.
Personality takes many shapes and forms and is affected by many factors. My understanding of personality is simply a genetic and environmentally determined set of psychological traits that influence our reactions in the world around us. Genetic because our parents possess a certain set of psychological personality traits that we tend to have in common with them so therefore in my opinion there are heritable personality traits. Personality is environmental because we each have our own separate experiences in the world and these experiences help form our unique personality. Neo-Freudians such as Jung have given us a wide array of ideas of how they believe personality is developed and formatted. Jung in particular has a very interesting

As a type A personality I am always on the go, seeking efficiencies in nearly every task, if not attempting to do multiple tasks at once (Robbins & Judge, 2009, p. 114).
