Summary of the Exercise Transformational change project (TCP) leadership team met to analyze and prioritize all of the information to identify specific issues. Team member’s input was gathered for the successful implementation of project based learning in Alternative Education for Riverside County office of Education. Key points were discussed and clarified to select five critical areas that need to be addressed. Not all members of the original TCP leadership team were available. This was due to staff having other work priorities that took priority, teachers being on vacation, location of meeting and issues that arose during the meeting that took staff away. Leadership team analyzed all the elements to narrow down what are the major five issues that the leadership team must address.
Key Strategic Issues The leadership dissected and analyzed all of elements that need to be addressed for proper implementation of project-based learning. After careful analyzes the leadership team grouped some of the elements into categories and then they discussed what the major issues were from the list gathered. The leadership team identified five key issues:
1. Partnering with outside agencies to make curriculum relevant to students.
2. Student addictions play a role in their learning and attendance.
3. Teacher recruitment and retention.
4. Having different grade levels in a classroom with various gaps and levels.
5. Assessments that test student’s progress.

Leadership team felt that with new curriculum new curriculum based assessments need to be implemented to measure student academic growth and content standard mastery, and to demonstrate if project base learning in an appropriate educational tool for alternative education students. Students should be assessed on the lessons taught not questions picked from a database.

Several students come to school under the influence of illegal substance and teaching to them in this state is difficult. This involves personally clarifying the values and priorities for the organization, and then sharing, teaching, and modeling those values to others. In leadership, the first step is always to fully understand your vision and become personally transformed and inspired by it.
The last issue to address is leadership. This role is challenging, but with commitment and determination it can be done. Strategies that I can take to encourage great leadership is to first build trust and confidence by fulfilling the school’s mission, vision, policy, and working environment (Drexler, 2007) on a daily basis. To be involved in school activities, in the classroom, at PTO meetings, and community affiliations will establish strong leadership skills. Providing valuable feedback, strategically planning to improve the school, and encouraging community support are other strategies that can be used to enhance leadership.
It took a bit of thought to come up with something that I could change about myself in this project. I do not mean there are not things to change, there definitely are. But, I find myself usually catering to my family when it comes to my behavior, their wants and needs. I decided to try to make my mornings more efficient with the way I start the day because that usually is the only time I have to myself. I chose to drink more water and do yoga each morning to center myself. I was hoping that by doing so would also help with weight loss without focusing strictly on that.

Changing situations throughout the world affect all organizations in business today. Therefore, most organizations acknowledge the need to experience change and transformation in order to survive. Through assessment students and teachers are able to determine the level of mastery a student has achieved with standards taught. Both formative and summative assessment should be purposeful and targeted to gain the most accurate data to drive further instruction (Ainsworth, 2010). While this syllabus does a good job of identifying the need for both formal and informal assessments, the way in which this is communicated does not provide enough detail for understanding. Simply listing assessment types does not give any insight into how these assessments fit in the learning process of this course. While some of the assessments mentioned could be common assessments chosen by the school or district to gain insight into the effectiveness of instruction, the inclusion of authentic assessments is most beneficial to students and demonstrates learning in a context closer to that of a work environment (Rovai, 2004). Unfortunately, this particular course, according to this syllabus, relies heavily on quizzes and traditional tests and essays to form the bulk of assessment opportunities. While other activities, such as formative assessments, journaling and discussions are mentioned as possible avenues for scoring, they are given a very low percentage of the overall grade.
