Climate Change and Tourism
In the world, climate change is becoming more apparent that it is causing flooding, landslides and extreme temperatures. It is affecting the wildlife, human and the nature. Because of the change in climatic condition, in different nations, summer periods could be extended or winter may be longer than usual. Dr. Viner David and Agnew Maureen (11-14 January,2000,) comment that the impacts of climate change on tourism are likely to manifest themselves in a number of different ways according to local conditions. The most serious impacts will result from the effects of sea level rise on small island states and low lying coastal resorts.
The change in climate can directly or indirectly affect

Regarding the climate change, it can be reduced by eliminating the burning of coal, oil. Generating awareness among the local people of the country regarding climate change and pollution also can reduce the possibility of climate change. Afforestation can decrease the chance of flood and landslides. Climate change can be controlled by reducing the production of carbondioxide, methane and other gases can be done by minimising the burning of woods or resources that produces such gases.
Climatic condition has been changing in the world today which is decreasing the flow of tourists and harms the growth of tourism industry. the climate changes naturally as well as due to the behaviour of people. Pollution, deforestation and many more human activities are the reasons for climate change. So, for the development of tourism industry, certain behaviours of human should be reduced and different controlling measures should be applied.

In order to reduce to potential climate change, the amount of greenhouse gases being released need to be reduced.
In addition to lowering greenhouse gas levels and using cleaner energy sources, there are things we can do as people to stop climate change. We could reduce our use of electricity at our homes by turning off the lights when we leave the room, turning down/up the heating/ac when it is unnecessary, and using less water. Also, we could install solar panels in our homes and donate money to environmental protection agencies. Hopefully, the people of our world will soon realize climate change is a pressing issue that must be solved as soon as
According to a study by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP), climate change may cost Switzerland’s tourist industry $820 million Euros. Where water is scarce, conflict may arise between competitive users such as farmers, fishermen, manufacturers, or even among countries. These effects of climate change and global warming on human society may hav...
There are no known solutions yet to reverse these effects in the environment, however there are many things people can do to prevent them from increasing. By implementing a carbon tax, the government can tax corporations on how much carbon they emit into the atmosphere. With the extra money from the tax, scientists can invest in alternative ways to reduce how much carbon is emitted. Reducing climate change is going to take years and so nothing is going to get fixed anytime soon, but meanwhile, we can use that extra money to begin cleaning up the atmosphere. There are many ways to explain climate change, some say its due to the emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere, others say it is the burning of the fossil fuels, some even say it’s the greenhouse gases.
With all things considered, the growth of carbon emissions and the effects of global warming can very well be halted and lessened. Individuals have to take action and try some of the strategies to reduce global warming. If we don’t take actions soon then the future effects of global warming could be terrible to catastrophic. Global temperature could increase by 1.4 and 5.8°C. The sea level should rise by 9 to 88 cm. Even more extreme weather events will occur. To sum up, all these changes could be prevented if we take initiative in stopping the effects of global warming.
Tourism impacts can be generally classified into seven categories with each having both positive and negative impacts. These impacts include; economic, environmental, social and cultural, crowding and congestion, taxes, and community attitude. It is essential for a balance on array of impacts that may either positively or negatively affect the resident communities. Different groups are concerned about different tourism impacts that affect them in one way or another. Tourism’s benefits can be increased by use of specific plans and actions. These can also lead to decrease in the gravity of negative impacts. Communities will not experience every impact but instead this will depend on particular natural resources, development, or spatial patterns (Glen 1999).
Climate change has become of the world’s major issue today. The earth’s climate is always changing in a very fast and also in different ways. Climate changes affect our lives psychologically, emotional and also physically. Climate change is defined as a long term change in the earth’s climate, especially a change due to the increase in the average atmospheric temperatures. Due to this change in temperature, a lot of changes has occurred in our environment, these changes include rising sea levels, flooding, melting of polar ice caps, hotter days, colder nights and heat waves. These climate changes plays an important role in shaping our natural ecosystem, our human economics and also the most important, it affects the human race. For
Nowadays, we can see a lot of campaigns to reduce this humans’ contribution of greenhouse gases to atmosphere. These campaign’s missions are usually about reducing the energy that we use, convincing us to use recyclable energy, stopping the deforestation... These missions are all about mitigating to climate change. Climate change mitigation is the actions to limit the significant rate of long term climate change. In other words, climate change mitigation is all of the actions about lowering the humans’ greenhouse gas contribution to atmosphere. It is now too late for humans’ to prevent the effects of climate change, but these effects can be reduced in the future with mitigation. The most popular treaty, disenchant of humanity, is Kyoto Protocol. The main goal of Kyoto Protocol is reducing the human emitted greenhouse gases, in other word, mitigation. Also in ways that underlying national differences in GHG emissions, wealth, and capacity to make th...
Climate change can be solved once we are willing to adopt certain changes to our everyday lives. In our society, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, and the nations decaying infrastructure, are all reasons as to why climate change has become such a subject of great importance. If we are able to change these three parts of our society we can help the environment and slow down the gradual changes of our climates.
Tourism is often associated with traveling to places away from home. Tourism has a big impact on the economic growth of some countries, which define the shape of their cities by producing different sectors like historic districts, convention centers, museums, malls, hotels, restaurants, and the list can be endless. Furthermore, tourism elements have been developed by cities for a variety of reasons including: situating themselves in the world by drawing a positive image and attracting visitors and for their money.
“In nature there are neither rewards nor punishments – there are consequences.” this quote argues that identifiable consequences of climate change are substantial to understand climatic events (Ingersol, 1899 p.270 cited in Burroughs, 2007). The term ‘climate change’ indicates the statistically long – term period environmental deviation of the global atmosphere including the averages state of the climate or natural climate variability (the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Chang (IPCC), 2007). During the past historical and recent decades, climate change and the Earth’s responses illustrate that most regions have been changed rapidly in the variability of climate including increasing the averages global temperature, greenhouse gases concentration, water vapour atmosphere, sea – level and coastal wind, decreasing in snow and ice cover and differences of day – night temperature, and changing pattern in all life activities (Hardy, 2003). This essay examines firstly what causes of climate change or change in climate variability, then focus
Tourism is the one of economic and social activities that increasingly vital. Number of travellers domestic and international is increasing. In fact, several countries in present world develop tourism sectors as primary sector which generate national income. According to Salah Wahab and Cooper (2003). Tourism is also sector which involves role that mutually link between government, private sector and also public.
In recent years, tourism marketing has gone through strategic changes with the improvement in new technologies, the chase of a relationship between customers and suppliers as well as the importance of sustainability issues in marketing. Marketing Tourism reconsiders the needs of the tourists but does not overlook on the long term economic, environmental, social and cultural interests of the local population. So, it means that marketing consider both the tourist demand and effect to society as
Other methods such as hydroelectricity, using more timber in architecture to sequester carbon, wind energy instead of modern high polluting techniques to help enhance our environment. There are various systems in handling population rates and the various issues that connect with threatening our environment. The population and environment debate will forever be a back and forth problem because there is possibly no way to completely stop carbon emissions but ease its production. To help the environment, we must incorporate all potential solutions in governing population such as family planning and governmental involvement and practice renewable resources and stop using nonrenewable resources, as well as ways to tackle overconsumption to support our corrupt environment.
The uncontrolled tourism increase is threatening many natural areas around the world.with the uncontrollable levels of tourism this can put great deal of pressure on an area, andthis could end up leading to negative environmental impacts on the air and the water quality, thevegetation, the soil.the wild life and the possible job opportunities.
