Even if the reason of climate change may be the natural cycles, we humans are the major determinant to it. The huge amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is causing the climate change and this amount is rising day by day, as a result of our actions. Greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, generally absorb and emit the heat in the atmosphere to keep the Earth’s climate habitable. However, as we continue to burn fossil fuels, this habitable Earth’s temperature will blow up, and as a result, some species will die out due to various problems which are caused by climate change. According to EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), the most obvious consequence of climate change is the rising sea levels, which will cause some seashore habitats to become unavailable to live to its species.
Nowadays, we can see a lot of campaigns to reduce this humans’ contribution of greenhouse gases to atmosphere. These campaign’s missions are usually about reducing the energy that we use, convincing us to use recyclable energy, stopping the deforestation... These missions are all about mitigating to climate change. Climate change mitigation is the actions to limit the significant rate of long term climate change. In other words, climate change mitigation is all of the actions about lowering the humans’ greenhouse gas contribution to atmosphere. It is now too late for humans’ to prevent the effects of climate change, but these effects can be reduced in the future with mitigation. The most popular treaty, disenchant of humanity, is Kyoto Protocol. The main goal of Kyoto Protocol is reducing the human emitted greenhouse gases, in other word, mitigation. Also in ways that underlying national differences in GHG emissions, wealth, and capacity to make th...

...ry-wide problem because most of the third world countries can’t afford to the adaptation to climate change. Also, according to The Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD), mitigation is based on an idea that we need to slow down the economic growth (OECD, 2008). So it will be really hard to combine the adaptation with slowing economies. But it is not impossible if the governments unite and help each other. An example about this is, Western countries are paying to some other countries like India and China to reduce their carbon emissions. Moreover, economist Richard Tol states this in his own words ‘We’re taking away money from the poor countries to give to the poor countries, but rather than spending it on development that is important to them, we’re spending it on an issue like climate change that is important to us.’ (Tol, Climate Economics).
When the sun heats the Earth gases are released as well as water vapor. They go into the atmosphere and regulate the temperature. This is known as global warming or the greenhouse effect. Many of the environmental complications derive from the political and social involvement. The climate was not the only cause, but we had humans played a role on what had been occurring to the world. Earth has many different atmospheric layers that are influenced by the greenhouse gases. “Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide have now increased nearly 30 percent since the beginning of the Industrial Revolution; methane levels have more than doubled; and nitrous oxide concentrations have risen by about 15 percent” (Fagan 209). The increase of these gases also enhanced the trapping of the heat. With more heat being trapped this lead to many coastlines to flood due to the melting of snow and ice. The increase of dangerous weather actions will pose as a threat also. These changes in the environment would eventually lead to political and social change of the people Overpopulation in certain areas and industry formation influence the greenhouse effect. We as a whole are destroying the place we live, the natural world. Although there are ways to prevent and reduce global warming, we cannot stop the natural occurrence of future climate. Climate is not the only factor, each individual that as
The world in which we live in at the moment has become poisonous. It has been poisoned by the human species’ daily survival activities. Humans around the world have taken for granted the daily impact that we have on the natural world. It all boil down to each and every breath that we take. Each and every breath that we exhale releases poisonous chemicals into the atmosphere. Until when our existence becomes absent, the world will remain poisoned.
Climate change. The two letter word so feared by scientists, so ignored by the average human being. What is it that makes scientists fear this phrase so much? For the concept of “climate change” has been seen throughout the history of the earths existence. For centuries, our climate has fluctuated through increasing and decreasing amounts of atmospheric carbon dioxide and climatic cycles. So what is the big deal? The problem, and the reason why this concept instills fear directly into the core of scientists is the rate at which over the past 1,300 years atmospheric carbon dioxide levels have risen. This unnatural increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide, due to the immense amount of anthropogenic burning of oil and coal, affects the transfer
The climate change issue until a few years ago for me was simply a buzzword and was no more than that. I could hear, read, see, much information about climate change, but I never was caring about it. I remember clearly I had no interest in this kind of topics, in some way I thought global warming was just an excuse for people to keep the mind busy. Exactly two years ago I met a young woman named Andrea, which by then was new in my work. I was fortunate enough to coach Andrea and develop a beautiful friendship and she always used to talk about the conservation of animal species and climate change. Andrea always told me and tried to persuade me to be a more conscious person about the damage humans do to our only home; our planet earth. The inspiration to
Climate change is a long-term change in regional or global climate patterns. From the mid twentieth century to now, it has mostly been about a significant increase in average global temperatures. Climate change is a major issue in the world today, and a lot of people feel very differently about the cause of it. The common argument about it is whether climate change is a natural occurrence or if the recent increase in temperatures is because of humans. Climate change is a natural cycle in the Earth’s weather. Before humans started burning fossil fuels, there were still weather cycles on Earth that were as hot or hotter than what it is now. In fact, Earth’s weather now, is on pace with the previous weather patterns in history. Human emitted
Climate change is due to rises in global warming .This is due to noticeable levels of carbon dioxide emitted through the burning of fossil fuel and human kind pollution .The international cooperation is mandated to address climate change because apart from being caused by countless location found in every country of the world, its consequence will be so adverse, that only with international assistance, the world will fully adapt to further environmental conditions. International collective action on climate change has only been a success in a few parts of the world example Mediterranean Action plan for reducing pollution within the Mediterranean Sea and the Montreal protocol on substances that delete the ozone layer, an agreement that limits damage to the earth’s protective layer of stratospheric ozone.
My parents grew up in small town in Mexico. There was a little river that went through part of the town when they were growing up. Every weekend or so they would go out and would go swimming with their families, it almost became a tradition to go swimming there until they noticed that the river 's water level was becoming smaller and smaller. Today there is no river anymore, instead it 's a road that travels through the town. Every time I visit my family in Mexico it would alway be nice and warm up until this year when I went in December. I remember waking up and getting ready to go to my aunt 's house in clothes for warm weather. As I open the door, the cold air punch me and I saw snowflakes falling down. It 's not supposed to snow in that
Climate change is one of the most discussed topics of the twenty-first century. Although this subject is very often on the daily basis of lots of people, most of them do not know much about it. So let us define climate change. People think that climate change is the same thing as global warming. However, global warming only represents one aspect of climate that is temperature. Climate change is any significant change in temperature, precipitation, or a wind pattern that occur over several decades or longer.
If every person in the United States continues to live the way they do, it would take five planet Earths to provide for everyone. Over one million species are faced with the possibility of extinction as a result of disappearing habitats, changing ecosystems, and acidifying oceans. By 2040 the Arctic is expected to have its first ice free summer ever. The United States government needs to implement a carbon tax on burning fossil fuels in order to protect and prevent the destruction of our planet through funding from those who threaten it. Such a tax would be market based and imposed on large companies in order to reduce our carbon emissions into the atmosphere.
Climate change presents a disputable and contradictory concern, dividing the human race into two groups: those who believe in it, and those who do not. The dispute seems to be one between fact and fiction. Climate change and other events have been devastating lives of millions of people worldwide for years. Not all Americans believe that Climate Change exists and affects our Earth every day. Only two-thirds of the population believe that climate change exists due to the the evidence scientists and researchers have found.
As one famous person said “the earth will eventually turn into a fireball” Stephen Hawking. The earth is getting hotter every year. Even though its a couple of degrees, it’s still a huge problem that is greatly affecting us. Some people don’t even notice that the earth is changing and others are simply ignoring the changes because it doesn’t affect them. The earth's climate has been changing over throughout history.
In conclusion, global climate change is a very long discussion with many ways to improve the environment, but a long journey to finding a solution. Although we can 't do away with our main sources like power plants, cars, and factories we must continue to find solutions to making our environment safer and suitable to live in. Hopefully in the near future we will have a better understanding of how to address our global climate changes, but for now, we can focus our ideas on preventative ways to not harm ourselves and our
To start off, greenhouse-gas emissions are culpable for many of the issues that make global warming a problem. Though, there are already policies that tackle the issues of the greenhouse effect. For example, the Kyoto Protocol lessened “greenhouse-gas emissions to below 1990 levels over a five-year period” in countries that participated (Source A, “Kyoto Protocol Takes Effect”). Despite the United States and Australia, who are “one-quarter of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions,” chose not to participate, the plan was still very effective.
In the modern era, climate change is a variation of weather over a long period of time, and it is the most important and controversial global issue. It is arguable in different positions, especially on science, culture, and politics. These three fields all cause a lot of latent concerns. The science of climate change brings out several harmful phenomenon, such as global warming. With respect to the climate change, the culture of humanity may be changed because the changing climate is the most important key factor of forming today’s human societies. Instead, climate change is now a political issue, which will affect the public attitudes directly. In other words, it means the government tends to review and provide latest information in order to adapt and retard the climate change. Over a long period of time, climate change has been taking place because of human activities that affect the scientific, cultural, and political sides.
Our planet is suffering from severe pollution, which ranges from contaminated air, water and soil as well. Humans are doing nothing to reduce the amount of pollution that is harming our earth. To understand how pollution works first you must understand that there are different types of pollution. The most common types of pollution and the ones that I will be focusing on which are the ones doing the most harm to our planet are air pollution, water pollution, soil contamination and littering. In order to help out and reduce pollution in our planet people need to be more aware of what these problems are and about the severe damages that they are causing our planet. Before industrialization really jumped into place and had an effect on large cities, nature had its own way of cleaning up its own air and itself. Wind scattered gases, rain washed many substances and the rest dissolved into the ground; while plants absorbed carbon dioxide and made it into oxygen. With big cities growing more every time and with more towns that were becoming more industrialized a lot of more waste began to be released into the environment and the atmosphere and soon this was more than enough for nature to handle. In order to stop and reduce pollution people need to understand the damage that it is causing our environment and our planet as well. People need to be more aware of how they can help out and do their part in reducing these problems that are causing our planet to die slowly with people not even noticing it.
