What makes a producer’s style unique? How does a producer’s style distinguish itself from others’ styles? In Tim Burton’s imaginative productions, Alice in Wonderland, Edward Scissorhands, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, one is able to identify Burton’s distinct style when peeling back the layers of his films. Summarizing these films, in Alice in Wonderland, a young woman is transported to the mystical wonderland, where she must defeat the forces of evil along with a journey of self-discovery. Next, in Edward Scissorhands, an unfinished project is discovered and integrated into the everyday lives of people in a nearby suburban town. The film shows how Edward, an unfinished man, tries to live an ordinary life and make deal with his attraction towards Kim. Finally, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a story of a boy from an impoverished family who has come upon the chance to visit Mr. Wonka’s candy factory. In these three films, Burton’s cinematic style can be depicted through his frequent use of front and back lighting and low angles to show the opposing forces between good a...
In “Roger Ebert: The Essential Man” by Chris Jones, Ebert states “What I am grateful for is the gift of intelligence, and for life, love, wonder, and laughter. There is no amount that can be given to degrade ourselves as human beings. Even if we have wronged someone or something has wronged us, that doesn’t give off any value. No matter what you do, we are all created with rights that can never be taken from us because we all withhold a value and a sense of belonging in life. On the website Real Clear Politics, author Michael Gerson writes an article “The Value of a Human LIfe” and discusses how much the human life is worth.

He believes that life is made for living and that you shouldn’t waste your life away and you have to live life to its fullest because you never know what could happen. He like to install the spirit of adventure in life because what’s life without having some adventure in your life or even just some fun. “Forever and forever when I move. How dull it is to pause, to make an end, to rust unburnished, not to shine in use! As though to breathe were life. Life piled on life were all too little, and of one to me little remains; but every hour is saved from that eternal silence, something more, a bringer of new things; and vile it were for some three suns to store and hoard myself, and this gray spirit yearning in desire to follow knowledge like a sinking star, beyond the utmost bound of human thought. Steve Jobs is trying to say that you should live every day like it is your last. He knew his life had value to him and his family. He felt like life was worth living even though once in a while a hard choice would come along to toughen his life. Making a choice is very hard, but when making a choice it should be one that you will not regret later in life. Making choices is one of the hardest things in life so you must see all the good and all the bad to the outcome of your options. Live everyday like it is your last. Ebert says that life is a very precious thing. Hamlet wants to die, but him not knowing what is on the other side scares so he decides to live. Even though Ebert had to get surgery, he got through it and learned to still live his life with no regrets.
To articulate on Job’s own understanding of this he expresses his encounter with death and the reality that dreams and desires of the future can be lost at any moment. Steve Jobs showcases the story in which he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and faced with the almost unbearable reality of having to say goodbye to everything and everyone he cherished. Because of this experience he was able to understand that “ [one’s] time is limited so don’t waste it living someone else’s life” (23). Living life for one’s self is what matters and one should not put their dreams long after everyone else's. To illustrate this comprehension in a different light one could look unto the life of Roger Ebert. It is apparent that he found what he loved which was being a movie critic. After almost meeting death and having to then live without a jaw, Ebert found himself still using his words to convey his thoughts and opinions but in an even more meaningful form. Even when under the scrutinizing opinions by those that cared for him to stop what he loved, he kept critiquing films until his death in 2013. It takes a certain passion to do work without ceasing and it requires a great deal determination to find it.

...s is related to his philosophy about doing the right thing and about a being a good person. But it goes beyond this. He spoke often about having true compassion. It isn’t enough to help those in need, but we must truly care about them, to take a good look and see how they got that way. He asked us to examine how we as a society can change the conditions that led them to be there in the first place. Doing this makes us better as people. I have found that it also makes me feel better. Never give up on your dreams. While his life was cut tragically short, he died in pursuit of his dream and in spite of everything he faced, he never gave up on it. He faced obstacles I could never imagine having to face, and still persisted. This reminds me that the small things in my life that often seem insurmountable, are just my excuses for not taking action and are not obstacles.
Roger Ebert was a multi talented usually dealing with writing. In fact, writing was his new way of having a voice. Ebert was diagnosed with cancer in his salivary glands and thyroid, which eventually led to the removal of his lower jaw and the loss of the ability to eat, drink or speak. Even though Ebert has faced a life downing situation his attitude has increased positively about life. How Ebert values life is shown when he said “I believe that if, at the end of it all, according to our abilities, we have done something to make others a little happier, and something to make ourselves a little happier, that is about the best we can do. to make others less happy is a crime. To make ourselves unhappy is where all crime starts” (Ebert). Life to him was not to fall to defeat. It was to do what you love and enjoy life as much as
