Three Major Life Stress

Psychology defines stress as the physical, emotional, cognitive, and behavioral responses to events seen as threatening or challenging. Ciccarelli, White. (2014). Psychology: An Exploration, 3rd Edition. U.S.A. Although most people experience some stressful issues in their everyday life, some do not want to admit to being seen as a weak individual. These people always want to have every aspect of they life in order at all times and have fear of losing control. This is an example of a major life stressor. Three major life stressors for me is being a college student, taking care of my husband who recently had a (mini) stroke, and making sure that my children and household are taken care of properly and continues to run smoothly even though we have hit a bump in the road. Having major life stressors can take toll your life in a negative way cause some difficulties and one may not be able to bounce back as quickly as they would like. Whether the stressor is caused from distress, hassles, or eustress we must not allow these things build up and cause any major problems, good or bad. Late Monday night, I rushed my husband to the emergency room after he complained of losing feelings in his right hand. After a Code 3 was called and several tests, the neurologist informed me that my 45-year-old husband had a mini-stroke. This is the second health catastrophe that has hit our family within six years and we have to learn to readjust and make the best of our lives everyday. Living with health problems that are hereditary is a huge adjustment for any family to live with, but the only options that you have is to make the best out life and keep the faith.
