The book “The interlopers”, by Saki, is a story about 2 men (Ulrich von Gradwitz and Georg Znaeym), whose families have been at war for decades, and suddenly see each-other but instead of shooting the other, a tree falls on them because of the strong winds. Eventually they decide to become allies with each-other because they realize that war is useless and in the end all they would win is a bad forest with trees that don’t even stand. This story is a coming age story because though their families hated each other for 3 generations, they decided to work together to live. In the start of the story, Ulrich and Georg really hated each-other and wished they could kill the other but by the end of the story, they no longer hated each-other
and even became allies. In the starting of the text it said “If there was a man in the world whom he detested and wished ill to it was Georg Znaeym, the inheritor of the quarrel and the tireless game-snatcher and raider of the disputed border-forest”, this sentence showed the hate Ulrich had for Georg and he even wished Georg would die but by the end/middle of the story, Ulrich said “We have quarrelled like devils all our lives over this stupid strip of forest, where the trees can't even stand upright in a breath of wind. Lying here to-night thinking I've come to think we've been rather fools; there are better things in life than getting the better of a boundary dispute. Neighbour, if you will help me to bury the old quarrel I - I will ask you to be my friend”. These 2 sentences show that Ulrich also goes through metamorphosis because he first hates Georg but in the end he becomes friends with him and that is metamorphosis because he goes through a complete change from hate to like.
...ow the tree “will churn down its dark boughs, smashing the house.” But the tree is so significant to their family that accepting the risk of injury is sensible.
“Every war is everyone’s war”... war will bring out the worst in even the strongest and kindest people. The book tells about how ones greed for something can destroy everything for both people and animals leaving them broken beyond repair, leaving them only with questions… Will they ever see their family again? Will they ever experience what it’s like to
From two different perspectives, Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor, and Christopher Browning, a historian of the German perpetrators, have different prospectives of the Germans who were involved in the Holocaust. Wiesel’s Night focuses on the story of an actual survivor and his journey, where as Browning’s Ordinary Men focuses on the German Order Police from judicial interrogations. Both books depict how each party is mentally and physically ruined from the Holocaust and the encounters they endure.
The main characters, Romeo and Juliet, from the play Romeo and Juliet, as well as Tony and Maria, from West Side Story, join together in astonishment of each other. In both stories the lovers are practically frozen in time, trying to take in their love for each other. Once they have gotten past the initial sight of each other they realized that their families would not approve of their love, but both sets of characters refused to end their love affairs. In both stories the lovers snuck around, hoping for a way for them to be together. The couples refused to let the things such as a last name or where they came from tear them apart, and were willing to go through anything to be

It is apparent that during war time emotions are checked at the door and ones whole psyche is altered. It is very difficult to say what the root causes of this are due to the many variables that take play in war, from death of civilians to the death of friends. However, in "Enemies" and "Friends" we see a great development among characters that would not be seen anywhere else. Although relying on each other to survive, manipulation, and physical and emotional struggle are used by characters to fight there own inter psychological wars. Thus, the ultimate response to these factors is the loss and gain of maturity among Dave Jensen and Lee Strunk.
In the last part , the story got twisted where they both exchange their thoughts to leave the gang and plan to go on lake with their chicks in one boat. They became friend. This change in both characters comes only before the “last spin”. It seems they don't have any personal problems with each-other it was an out come of what they were settled for their gangs..
People all over the world have conflicts. Whether they are small or big, no matter who you are, you will always experience the trauma of having enemies. Although, some peoples problems are blown so out of proportion, that it gets to a point where they just need to stop and get over it. Sometimes the conflict goes on for so long, that no one truly knows the real reason they are enemies in the first place. It has always just been that way. Humans need to realize it is ok to forgive and forget. In The Interlopers, the two men at least tried to make amends. Even if it wasn’t legitimate, it still shows a lot that they tried as they had been enemies for so long. In the short story of The Interlopers, the two men did not deserve the fate that happened to them as they made an effort to become friends, everyone should get a second chance, and no one deserves to die that way.

Guests of the Sheiks is written from the personal perspective by Elizabeth Warnock Fernea about a small Iraqi village called El Nahra. The authors husband, an anthropologist who studied at The University of Chicago visited this rural village. The author spoke of how she was not familiar with the Middle East and Arabic. For this paper, it asks to examine the role of women in the Iraqi village. This paper will also discuss how culture and religion have an impact on these women. The position that these women have in the society and how they contribute to their family and the village will also be a big part of this paper. The beginning of the book has a great reference for cast of characters which includes a family tree of names and short
