As a child growing up I was taught that being a business man was substantial in becoming a man. My father always made it his responsibility to engineer the foundation of business. His main goal for his son was to become an entrepreneur. Unfortunately, I became interested in a different field. With the same intentions of staying in business, business analyst grew on me unexpectedly. My father being the disciplinarian kept me business orientated but sports had an effect as well. Life began to hit me once I was leaving High School. As a high school student, I chose to take business classes but my attention was more so in sports. As a basketball player for 1-2 years and taking business classes, I became distracted in finding my career until I took this business class. The business class involved analyzing a business organization to examine its weakness and …show more content…

When people are younger everyone always ask what do you want to be when you are older? Of course when it is children everyone is filled with wonder about their answer whether it’s a model, astronaut, race car driver, etc. Now that I’m older it’s expected for me to know exactly what to do with my life and how to do it. I realized very soon that I sometimes can be an indecisive person when it comes to life-long decisions. This being a huge decision in one’s life you could only imagine how many times I’ve changed my idea on what to go to school for. Although, changing my mind become a norm, I eventually decided a degree in business/marketing is the right path for me. What are my career and educational goals, what will my job would be like, and
I had a different pursuit in careers in becoming an Accountant. The reason I wanted to pursue being an Accountant was for my love for math. Math was always my favorite subject, and I was excellent in it. Some teachers would even ask me to help others in the class that was struggling. At first, I did not take Accounting serious because I was still focused on wanting to play baseball. My goal of becoming an Accountant started because I not only stopped playing baseball, but ended my baseball career mentally in order to focus on my education. I had to make a choice, whether go to college only focusing on baseball and worry about student loans or go to a community college for free and focus on my education. I could see baseball would only get me so far, compared to receiving a higher education. My mom and grandparents helped make that decision, so I did not want to let them down by going after an unrealistic dream. On the other hand, since I was so good at math and it is an important skill to have an order to be an Accountant, setting that goal was an easy choice to
Formed in 1998, the Managed Care Executive Group (MCEG) is a national organization of U.S. senior health executives who provide an open exchange of shared resources by discussing issues which are currently faced by health care organizations. In the fall of 2011, 61 organizations, which represented 90 responders, ranked the top ten strategic issues for 2012. Although the issues were ranked according to their priority, this report discusses the top three issues which I believe to be the most significant due to the need for competitive and inter-related products, quality care and cost containment.
I always knew what my career goals were when I went into high school. Ever since I was little I wanted to become a professional boxer and also a police officer. I knew that these jobs had a great risk to injury. Even though I didn’t need to go through a full four years of college for my career goals, I wanted to get a business degree just in case I got hurt on the job and for when I retired from those job. The reason why I wanted these career goals was because I wouldn’t find my job entertaining sitting at a desk for the rest of my life. Since I find an interest in sports, I’ve decided to take the career path toward an industry that has something to do with sports and an industry that I always use for athletics. My career goal for joining
I strive to do my best in all of my classes, but I am most successful in those classes that interest me. Healthcare organizations are designed to meet the healthcare needs of individuals and promote a healthy community. The three healthcare organizations that interest me are: The Heart Hospital Baylor of Plano, Texas Health Center for Diagnostics & Surgery Plan, and Parkland Health and Hospital System. Due to the evolving healthcare industry, focusing on just patients and physicians is no longer a marketing strategy. According to Mycek (2015), “Marketing teams need to expand their consideration set and focus on the new 5 P’s of Healthcare Marketing” (p. 1).
I began to change my life 's mindset through baby steps, looking beyond surface success. Every hour of every day I would focus on doing something that would lead me to an authentic and passionate life, not a life controlled by monetary success. Morrie taught to “Devote yourself to loving others … devote yourself to creating something that gives you purpose and meaning. You notice … there 's nothing in there about salary (Albom, 127).” I wanted to follow Morrie 's advice and create a life that allowed me to help people, and that made me personally feel like my life had meaning. I changed my major from the medical field, with the intention of making people think I was “smart,” to a major that will allow me to be a preschool teacher and work with children. I won 't make a lot of money, and I won 't be admired by the community, but I know that helping kids is what makes me
I entered college as a business major because I felt that I could make an acceptable income postgraduate and I could force myself to find a area within business where I could succeed. However, the more I explored different business careers, the less I wanted to pursue one. I knew deep down that I had a strong connection to working with children and therefore, felt that I should look into careers that match my personality. I was very fortunate to find that my personality type fit strongly with counseling and education. ESFJ personalities excel in career paths that involve high social interaction with an opportunity to serve others. These career paths include positions such as social workers, educators, counselors, and even choreographers (O*Net, 2017). Currently, my is working as an elementary school teacher and eventually as an elementary school counselor. In order achieve success within these two fields, O*Net suggests the acquisition of certain skills. The education required to maintain an elementary teaching position includes an undergraduate and often recommends a master’s degree. The qualities of excellent teachers include basic skills such as “talking to others and using the best training or teaching strategies for learning new things,” social skills such as “teaching people how to do something and understanding people's reactions,” and people and
“Psychology helps to measure the probability that an aim is attainable” (Thorndike, 2015). When someone takes a class about psychology they can learn things they can use in everyday life. This psychology course I took taught me many things I can use toward my life and my future career. I plan to continue my education after high school, and go to college for a business degree. Some people may not associate psychology with business, but ever since I have learned about psychology I realized some things do relate between business and psychology. Since psychology is the study of the human mind, people who work in business can run into people, situations, or problems that relate to the human mind. Three things that I have learned in this course,
As a child, have you ever been asked what do you want to be when you grow up? When I was little, all I ever wanted to do was open up my own dance company. I chose to study Business Administration because I love the feeling of being an in professional and sophisticated manner. I really feel as though choosing the business field was the best option I ever made for myself because I’m getting the opportunity to show many people out there how professional I can be and also the skills I have as a person.
This essay has shown that some of the most important elements for business students to be successful in their career are time management practices, greater knowledge and skills related to time management and how business studies can help lead to successful business career by linking theories studied with real experiences in the workplace.
Often times, I can’t help but wonder what my life would be like if I haven’t been exposed to the world of business; a wonderful career that changed my life completely. I have taken interest in business career because I love calculating numbers and interacting with people; But most importantly, my fascination in business came from my grandfather. He taught me many valuable tips on how to be a successful person, and most certainly how to run a business. He was not only a successful businessman, but also a respected individual. One of the businesses that he owned was a company called “Wu Long Tea Factory”. The main thing that they produce is tea of course, but they also have products such as cakes, candies, and all kinds of stuff. By being the production manager’s assistant of this company, I was able to experience everything that was going on in the factory. Even though that was the background I grew up in, my biggest fascination wasn’t in being a manager in a factory; it was the finance part that got me all excited. Often times I can even see myself sitting in my office and work on clients’ financial profiles and statements. I also took extra math classes and participated in many of the competitions in order to prepare myself to succeed in this particular field. Other things that I also did to get me well prepared are joining school activities, applying internships, and having jobs. I believe that all my hard work will pay off, when I see myself as a successful businessman.

First, I will express my personal mastery journey with my work life. I just recently graduated from the University of Indianapolis with my undergraduate degree in accounting. I graduated with a high GPA while participating in collegiate baseball, which I believe will help set me apart from others when beginning my career. That being said, I also believe that I have a lot of learning to do in order to be successful in my early career. I feel that I did not learn as much as I should have about accounting and I will need to dedicate a significant amount of time relearning and learning to have success in the accounting field. My vision for my career is to be a partner at a mid-level accounting firm in my early to mid 30’s. I aspire to be at a company that challenges me and allows me to progress and meet my goals. I would prefer a mid-level accounting firm because it would allow a better work life balance due to less hours. In order for me to bridge this very large gap of where I am currently at and where I aspire to be, there are a great deal of obstacles I need to overcome. First, I need to land an entry level position with an accounting firm that I feel will allow me to grow and succeed. I also need to put in the time to learn as much as I can about the profession. Finally, I need to allocate a substantial amount of time to studying and passing the certified public accountant exam. This is my
Implicitly, my sanity was saved and rooted to finishing my college education. Although, paying the bills were a priority, I was determined to graduate on time. And so, I finished my bachelor’s degree in electronics & information technology, and later earned my master’s degree in computer science, both from Annamalai University. After graduating college, I worked for a customer centric company as a technical customer care executive. I had, imagined working with computers would be an exciting experience, however, troubleshooting was no fun. The job proved to be a double edged sword. Although it was very mechanical, stressful and felt unchallenged, it taught me to be more adaptable, personable and patient under pressure. Due to its routine nature, I often felt my skills and potential were being untapped. Therefore, in pursuance of gaining a holistic perspective of business, I enrolled at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) to earn my business management
