The World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc trading as WWE is one of the several entertainment companies based in America that are privately owned and controlled and publicly traded that concentrates on professional wrestling. Majority of their income is based on the music, films, product licensing as well as direct product sales. It is apparently the largest professional wrestling company in the world with a viewership of up to 13 million people in the USA only and reaching out to other 145 countries in 30 different languages. WWE has two major brands that it works under; Raw and SmackDown.
The mission of the WWE Inc is to provide a worldwide range of products in line of entertainment. This solicits a passionate and emotional response from their fans that is unique. WWE intends to meet this mission objective by a continued creation of leverage through their talent and content allover the world which will give them revenue and strength.
The business strategy that WWE works with is based on the content and the use of Television media to reach their clients. A prominent statement by the WWE Inc now is many websites reads as below (Construction executive, 2011) “Our formula is straightforward. We develop compelling content anchored by our Superstars. We market this content to drive television ratings, which, in turn, drive pay-per-view buys, live event attendance, WWE.com traffic, and branded merchandise sales and other business initiatives. Merlin`s organisational type is a divisional organisation, this means that Merlin Entertainments has a central headquarters which then splits off into different divisions, which in turn make their own decisions and have their own structure. This organisation type is usually found in large and mature organisations that have a large variety of brands and will have products in different countries. This organisation structure allows more control and accountability than machine structures, this means that the structure is decentralised, which allows the central team to focus on the “big picture” and other strategies which would help the business to operate better as well as to help to boost profits for the company however a weakness in this organisations

Vince McMahon’s WWF is a multi-million dollar corporation and has been wildly successful in capturing the sports entertainment market. “Monday Night Raw,” the weekly soap opera on TNN, is one of the three most watched cable shows each week. In addition, the WWF has weekly wrestling shows on UPN and MTV. Personally, I am caught up in the phenomenon. I set aside my Monday evenings to watch Monday Night Football and professional wrestling. I enjoy attempting to figure out the storylines before they unfold and attempt to guess the action that may happen in the next segment.

Mission statements are vital to an organization because they communicate and set the foundation of the purpose of their existence. They shape the attitudes and behaviors of the members of the organization and the perceptions of the public (Hess, 67).
A year after Guerrero passed away, WWE added a drug testing policy. This drug testing policy lets the administration of WWE know if the wrestlers are using drugs. Farhi states, “They had found the names of 14 wrestlers on client lists of clinics with links to a Florida drug distribution company”(Pro Wrestling Suspends…) .The regulations of this policy is if the performer is caught the first time they receive a 30 day suspension away from the company. If the performer is caught again they will receive a two month suspension away from the company and also spend their away time in rehab. The third time the performer is caught they are then released from the company.

This is done by acquiring IP that is underexploited or unused by the owner. They have opportunities to transfer their skills, technology, or intellectual capital from on business to another. This is yet again done through media networks, parks and resorts, and also their studio entertainment. All of which allow them to go globally. Along with the opportunity to transfer skills and technology, they can use their brand name across multiple product or service categories. This is seen in the multiple IP networks, studio entertainment, multiple resorts and parks that are all around the world, and lastly, in their consumer products that were ranked number one in 2011 for being the largest licensor of character-based merchandise in the world. Value chain match-ups seen in primary activities are inbound logistics, operations, outbound logistics, the marketing/sales, and service. All lead to support activities such as technology, human resources, and general administration. Opportunities for skills transfer is seen in the media networks, parks and resorts,studio entertainment, and consumer products. Disney Company can share iconic Marvel characters in their parks/resorts, movies, and consumer products, due to buying the IP to Marvel and it does not stop at just Marvel ABC and ESPN are also involved.

Wrestling is more than just a sport; it is a way of life. And for those who enjoy its opportunities, it is something that takes the mind off of all of life’s troubling times, and puts one man against another to get their hand raised. Competition makes everything evolve, and there is no other sport that epitomizes what competition truly is. Wrestling spans the entire globe, and although it incorporates several different styles and many National and World events, remains overlooked by most.
What major technology change has had the greatest impact on the quality of your life?
The company that I choose to explore is The Walt Disney Company. Walt Disney started the Disney Brothers studio in 1926, after years of working as a cartoonist. I selected this company due to the fact I am a fan of their products and services. Disney produced some of my favorite films like Aladdin, Hook and The Lion King. After I visited their website, I discovered that Disney owns multiple media outlets, in such areas as film, Internet, music, broadcasting, publishing and recreation. According to Disney’s “The mission of The Walt Disney Company is to be the one of the world’s leading producers and providers of entertainment and information. Using our portfolio of brands to differentiate our content, service and consumer products, we seek to develop the most creative, innovative and profitable entertainment experiences and related products in the world”. The Disney brand is doing exactly what their mission states.
The main objective of Universal Studio is to bring entertainment to the public. The Universal Studio’s mission statements is bringing movie to life via rides, shows, and events such as Halloween Horror Nights. Before plan a strategic planning, Universal Studio would make a strategic analysis to access mission of organization. The Universal Studio using demographic segmentation of age and life cycle to target the market. So, they will provide the different type of recreational facilities to different demographical segmentation.
