"The teacher is the fountain of all knowledge."
1. What is your response to this statement? Why?
2. What is the perception of the roles of teachers and students in your country?
3. How is the learning environment structured and does it facilitate your learning? (By 'learning environment I am referring to situations within which learning occurs, such as lectures, seminars, group work, individual work, learning by rote.)
1. Teachers play an important role in education but the foundation for knowledge begins at home. which they can continue to build upon. Teachers can help enlighten and broaden knowledge by introducing concepts that can lead to the formulation of new ideas. I believe the teacher is a facilitator who guides and mentors students. As such, they possess the power to influence minds invoking learning as a fundamental necessity to exceed in life. It is a position of service that helps shapes society.
2. Opinions about educators in America are usually based on personal experience as a student or parent. Teachers are primarily viewed as leaders or mentors who by in large are responsible for the developmental learning of their students. They give lessons that can be used in and outside the classroom such as, appreciating the value of hard work or meeting deadlines, etc. It is often as a respectful but thankless profession with many believing they are not paid enough. In our society, much is asked or expected of teachers – especially in stages of early learning. For example, at the elementary and secondary level, they may spend a lot of time as disciplinarians and/or a social workers. Law mandates teachers report suspicion of abuse to local Children Services and criminal activity to law enforcement. Under such circumsta...

Also rote learning is a major part in the pupil’s learning environment. Students grades in classes such as English, Science, and Social Studies are based on the ability to memorize facts and not necessarily on comprehension. This type of studying is encouraged. Some group work is incorporated into learning with students collaborating on projects. Presentations are made with each member of the group making some type of contribution.
Active learning in the classroom is growing as schools are moving away from old traditions and looking to improve teaching methods. Keeping students engaged has become a challenge. The number of students failing and dropping out of school and/or the US education ranking in the world have become determining factors for change.
It is obvious that education, whether classroom instruction or practical drill, advice or entreaty, must ensure that students are positively involved, that they at least listen and pay attention to the words, actions, and the thoughts of their educators, instead of drifting off or doing something else, or simply leaving to try to learn what they need on their own (Prange 74).
I teach my Spanish Class in a dynamic way, I want for my students is to actively participate, rather than passively learning. I have created an active learning environment engaging the students and makig the content more enjoyable and comprehensible.
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
Teachers help students meet the purpose of life needs by teaching them the things they need to know to be successful adults. Teachers do not teach just the basic core subjects, but they teach children how to be responsible and respectful. They teach them the things they need to know to be good citizens in society.
Why is education such an essential part of our culture? We, as a society, are extremely materialistic and view education as a ladder to a higher socio-economic plateau, which consists of better job opportunities and a better lifestyle. Education is at the core every career imaginable and, regardless of technological advances, there will always be a need for teachers. Teachers touch lives every day. I am becoming an educator because I feel that I can positively influence the lives of others. I am confident in my ability to interact with others as I look forward to improving students’ lives through education.
Teachers are put in situations that are not fair to them. Parents have become less involved in their children’s educations; they sadly expect schools and teachers to do their job. It is not the schools or the teacher’s jobs to raise the children; it is their job
I believe educators are one of the most important careers out there, without them where would we be today? Would you be reading this paper? Would you still be able to read, write, or have an educated conversation? Would you know how to pay for things at the grocery store, and know if you’re receiving the correct change back? Would you know how to tell time, so you can manage your day? When I look back to my young developing stages in life, I always ask myself where would I be today if it wasn’t for my teachers? Teachers are the ones who are building our future generations. Preparing children and teens for higher education. Also playing a huge part in shaping children’s lives, enlightening them, and educating them about society and the world around them; the types of things that a parent doesn’t have time for, or just lacks the knowledge of. I think teachers are what help make this world go round. We simply go to school to learn, and get educated, so that someday we can get a job, or start a business to supply for our families and our self. How would we acq...
Students are social by nature and given the right instructional strategies and good classroom management teachers can promote a positive learning environment. Teachers serve as the guiding force in a student’s life. They are responsible for molding a student’s personality and shaping his/her mental orientation. Teachers deeply impact our lives and direct the course of our future. One cannot deny the influence of teachers in one’s life. In fact, it would not be an exaggeration to say that, till a certain age, out life revolves around our teachers. They are our constant companions, until we grow old enough to come out of their shadow and move ahead on our own.

Socrates, a famous philosopher, once said, “I cannot teach anybody anything; I can only make them think.” This quote is interesting in the fact that in modern times it is mandatory to go to school for a certain length of time to be taught in order to learn. We have teachers that share their knowledge with their students so that the generations to come can continue to grow and develop. When a student is asked what their teachers do at school they will most likely respond with something along the lines of, “they teach.” This response is both true and false to an extent. While the teachers can provide their students with knowledge, it is important for the students to do their part by using their minds to understand it for themselves. Socrates
... generally accepted that a teacher’s main role is to facilitate learning rather than to be the source of all knowledge” (p.2).
I believe that a teacher has a responsibility to support children and guide them to become a responsible, intelligent, and independent person to be successful in their future, and the Kentucky School Professional Code of Ethics includes that a teacher should “strive to uphold the responsibilities of education profession”. Children spend at least thirteen years from kindergarten to twelfth grade in the school system, and they will encounter many teachers. Some of the teachers they meet through those years will influence the children. It is my desire as an education major student to become an effective teacher and become a good influence to those children. One of my hopes as an education major student is for students to feel the love in my future classroom. I think each child is unique, and each child deserves educational opportunities. I believe a teacher is a profession that requires patience, knowledge, communication skill, and social skill. The teacher also needs to enjoy the interaction with children, and be able to show them the importance of education and respecting and caring for others. Other professional responsibilities include providing several different ways to present the lesson to cover each student’s most beneficial learning style. It is necessary to focus on each child as an individual
Being a teacher is one of the most important jobs in the world. In today’s society, it is hard to be a teacher. Students need to have a teacher that has values and understands the importance of these values. A teacher is there to help
