Subway has exploded since it opened, which was 1965. There is now more subway restaurants that there is McDonalds. As an employee of subway, I have learned many things. Also I have found out that it may look like it is the easiest job, but sometimes it is not. When opening in the morning, there are many things that have to be done. At the subway location that I am employed at, between eight and ten-thirty, there is time to make setups and do the other chores. When doing setups in the morning, there is a list of things to be made to go by. Most of the set-ups are very time consuming, and may take up some time. The bread is laid at night and put in a bread cabinet in the refrigerator. Then the following morning, the bread should be thawed and able to be put in the proofer. The bread comes out of the freezer as white or wheat. Before putting the bread in the proofer, there has to be so many of the five types of bread. There are two types of bread that has to have seasoning put on them before putting in the proofer. The proofer is basically a heater that helps mold the bread for the oven. Each pan can fit up to twelve cookies. The cookies come prepackaged, and all that has to be done is placing them on a pan. Good thing about the cookies is that it only takes eight minutes to cook. Also, the flatizza bread has to be cooked and all it takes is four flatbread footlongs. These eight six inches will go on a pan and cook for five minutes. By the time everything that the morning shift has to do is done, it is time for the lunch rush to come in. The rush usually last thirty minutes to an hour. Depending on the type of day, it may be slower than that or even busier. After the rush, all the veggies and meats have to be restocked. When everything is restocked, remade, and cleaned, it is time for the night crew to come in. If the day crew has not finished the chores in time, they stay till it is done. When night crew gets there, veggie change has to be done. Veggie change is where ten things have to have new containers if they haven’t been switched out since that morning. Then, the bain has to be cleaned and chips have to be stocked. Soon after, ice has to be done and tea has to be remade. Also, the cookies and flatizzas have to be checked on to make sure more of those don’t have to be made. When finished, there is not anymore chores that have to be done until dark.
