Directing Act 2 Scenes 1 and 2 of William Shakespeare's Macbeth
From the director's point of view, this scene is very dramatic because
of the impact on Macbeth's decision in Act 1 scene seven. In this
scene Macbeth almost decides that he has talked himself out of killing
the king, but his wife Lady Macbeth has other plans and forces him
into a decision that will lead to the death of the king. This affects
the two scenes I will be directing because in these two scenes the
decision is put into practice when Macbeth kills the king. So I have
to direct the two crucial scenes that see the king murdered by
Macbeth.
The setting for act two scene one is in Macbeths castle. It is dark
and Banquo and Fleance are in the courtyard discussing what time of
day it is, and as to whether it is past midnight or not. They work out
what time it is by seeing if the moon is down, and then the candles
are blown out. Now it is at this point large gusts of wind are heard
howling throughout the castle with thunder and lightning clashing down
around the audience. Owls are heard calling and all manner of
nightlife is heard. This effect is used so that the audience are made
intense and unaware as to what is happening next and to create
tension. The sounds would be achieved through sound effects being
played over the speakers and sharp, crisp lighting would be used to
symbolise the lightning. A background tune will be played very lightly
to create a mood so scary it will keep the audiences fixed to the
stage from the edges of their seats.

To conclude I have tried to answer each section as best I can. I have
tried to incorporate the mood set by each characters lines by using
lightning and sound effects as well as the way the actors portray
their lines. My aim was to try to get the audience involved in the
play without them actually acting, so that they could experience one
to one the characters moods, so that they could really understand and
get into the play. I would chose Ozzy Osborne to play Macbeth because
he is older than some, dresses in black and has a certain element of
disguise in him which I feel Macbeth's actor needs to portray well. I
would choose Halle Berry to play Lady Macbeth because her latest film
'Gothika' was a perfect example of a spooky story of which she played
her part extremely well.

The Dramatic Effect of Act 5 Scene 1 on the Play Macbeth In this scene the doctor and the gentlewoman wait for Lady Macbeth as it was reported to the doctor that she had been sleepwalking on previous occasions - "since her majesty returned from the field, I have seen her rise from her bed". It is reported by the gentlewoman that every time Lady Macbeth sleepwalks she writes something on paper and she had also seen Lady Macbeth continuously perform an action of washing her hands vigorously. Lady Macbeth enters holding a candle.
Comparing the Opening and Witches Scenes in Macbeth We watched two different versions of Macbeth. One was the BBC. Shakespeare and the other one was a production called Middle English! While both productions told the story of the original play by William Shakespeare. They were different in a number of ways.
Throughout the day we are constantly checking the time, preparing for the upcoming months, and keeping track of the year. Clocks tell us the time we use as a measurement. It’s how we keep track of those important months and events, such as holidays and birthdays. Although there are many investigations and research being done on the nature of time, many unresolved issues remain.

The Impact of Act 2 scene 2 of Macbeth & nbsp; Act 2 scene 2 is the most violent and intense part of Macbeth, although we do not actually witness the murder of King Duncan. It is interesting that Shakespeare chooses to have Macbeth kill Duncan offstage. We can only guess why he wrote the scene that way, I think that Shakespeare wanted to focus not on the murder but on Macbeth’s reaction to it; the bloody details supplied by the audiences imaginations will be much worse than anything that could be done onstage. It is also the most crucial part of the play; it is the first of many murders. This scene takes place at night; I feel the darkness represents what is unnatural, cruel and evil.
Another way the director of the film and the author of the book showed me when a time change occurred was by the meals they were eating whether it be breakfast, lunch, or dinner. My last way of knowing when time changes occurred was when the kids when to school that showed me it was morning. Also words like goodnight let me know that it is night time. For Example “Come on home to dinner with us, Walter,” (Lee) (pg.25). The film was more effective showing me time changes because I can see them happening with my eyes, rather than reading words and trying to imagine

What do you consider to be the most successful stage effect and language techniques used to create dramatic tension in Act 2, Scene 2?
production, as I am a huge fan of Lord Of the Rings, and was excited
The scene I chose was act 2 scene 2 of Macbeth written by Shakespeare. It was between two characters, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. I played the role of Macbeth. In the scene, Lady Macbeth celebrates her plan being a success. Lady Macbeth waits for Macbeth to come with news that he has killed Duncan. Macbeth announces that he has committed the murder but he is so afraid that he brings the bloody daggers with him and Lady Macbeth takes them from him, to place them with the sleeping guards. Macbeth hears knocking sounds which frightens him so his wife comes to lead him away, they then wash the blood from their hands before they get caught. My character was challenging because I had to understand his emotions and find ways of interpreting that on stage. I chose to perform this act because Shakespeare was able to create tension, build the right atmosphere to show them Macbeth’s reaction to Duncan’s murder but also show the relationship between Lady Macbeth and Macbeth. Shakespeare’s use of imagery, dramatic irony, rhetorical questions helped emphasise the guilt Macbeth felt after the murder.
