The Storify project added a component to the course that was very beneficial: the ability to collaborate with others to create a vivid and varied work of art. Through the project, I got to explore my own perception of my given topic- beauty- and the minds of many of my peers. Overall, the Storify project allowed me to learn more about the different ways people view beauty and look at and study art. With each assignment, I tried to add at least one image that related to my interests or values. The first called for me to provide images that relate to my topic. The first image I contributed to my Storify board was nothing special. I posted an image of a bubble and wrote how beauty can be found in simple things; it’s true, but a cliché. The next
... the value of organization and planning. The structure provided by the instructor truly helped me break down very large projects into smaller, more approachable assignments. For example, for each essay due, there were smaller deadlines that needed to be met. As I kept up with those smaller assignments, the actual large due date was not intimidating and I was able to handle the stress better. I will definitely use this approach in my future academic writing assignments.

My chosen methodology for analysis is semiology, Rose (2001) argues semiology confronts the problem of how images make meanings directly. It is not simply descriptive, as compositional interpretation does not appear to be, nor does it rely on quantitative estimations of significance, as content analysis at some level has to. Instead, semiology offers a wide range of analytical tools for depicting an image apart and tracing how it works in relation to broader systems of meaning. A semiological analysis entails the implementation of highly refined set of concepts, which construct detailed accounts of the particular ways the meanings of an image are produced through that image.
For the "Snap of Me Chat" project, I decided to bring in a few items that best symbolize me. These items include a hockey puck, a field lacrosse helmet, a picture of my family, and the book "Great Expectations" by Charles Dickens. I brought these items into class because they best represent myself, my interests, my values, as well as what is important to me.
Art is a form of human expression. Art portrays various ideas, feelings such as love, happiness, boredom and sorrow. But sometimes, art is only considered as an extra elective within the school curriculum and just a waste of time. So here today at Palm Beach State college is an irritated professor, who also teaches at Palm Beach State college, Samantha Salzinger gave a speech on “The Importance of Art, ” presented on November 4, 2015, and she argues that art is an important subject and should deemed as a core class. Salzinger begins building her credibility with personal stories and reputable sources, convincing statistics and facts, and successfully engages the audiences
The picture I chose is a picture of me playing softball. I chose this picture because it shows how determined and committed I am on the softball field which relates to the school me and at home me. The at home me is all about softball and when I play softball I’m very passionate and always have my mind set on doing better and never giving up. The school me is committed to doing my work and getting it all done. I dedicate my time to my school work and also my softball life because I am very devoted to my school and home life. The at home me and school me is very committed because I am dedicated to getting school work done and committed to getting better at softball. In the picture I chose I’m focused just like the school me and at home me.
The 1st importance of art is that it helps different students connect in their own ways and in different ways than usual. Different students connect what they learn in different ways and one way they can connect through is art that they have made of other famous people have made. It also helps them learn because instead of just stuffing them with facts it’s like a new way that you can look at things and be exciting
Art can be used to raise scores in every subject, “Students who took four years of art classes scored 91 points higher on their SAT exams than those who took half a year or less. Multiple studies also confirmed that there is a correlation between art engagement and students’ other achievements.” (Valeriya Metla) Even with the research linking art and better grades some educators think that it is more worth while to only focus on the core classes because it is more important to fund what is being tested than to help raise children who are creative.
Giving students Post-It notes, students will be in their table groups and will circulate the room for our gallery walk. Students will view the images and post words or comments describing what they see using their Post-It notes around the images. After each group has seen each gallery, they will continue to stand at the last group of images they have been too. They will then read all the comments posted by that image and share their impression with the class on what they think the images represents. Ask students what the images have in common and guide a collaborative conservation to determine that all the images represent heroes.

Art Education is not always valued in school settings. Although some may see it as an unnecessary use of school funding, there are many who believe it is beneficial to students in more ways than one. There are many different studies that have been conducted to test the effects that art education has on school-aged children. Some studies have proven that art education can help students to improve in other academic areas. In a journal article from Ohio State University’s “Theory in Practice,” Karen A Hamblen states, “There are linkages between art learning and learning in other subjects areas and that art study can promote creative behaviors, critical thinking skills, and academic achievement.” It has also been found that the arts can teach children better self-regulatory strategies, and even foster more confidence and self-efficacy in school which relates to confidence in academics. Overall, art education in schools has been very beneficial and has proven to ignite creativity, confidence, critical thinking skills, and academic achievement in students.

It was a very good experience of gaining knowledge in a more interactive way, where I could practice on Storify website what I have already learnt. I have also enjoyed the fact that Storify gives ability to be creative. I have felt like it is me who decides how my story looks like, what will be the style of writing or what I will include. As the issue of citizen journalism is that it needs essential verifying news accuracy, I found interesting curating the content about citizen journalism itself. I do believe, that there many aspects of this issue that I would need to improve my knowledge of, however, I am happy with what I have achieved so far and therefore I am inspired and willing to explore more in this
"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the painting, I lost the group I was with. When I heard about the observation essay, where we have to write about a person or thing in the city that catches your eye. I knew right away that I wanted to write about the painting. I don’t know why, but I felt that the painting was describing the way I felt at that moment.
This course has helped me in many ways, especially time management, health, and money. Instead of having a very relaxing week and then panicking at the end of the week when everything is due, this course has helped me to plan out my studies. Planning them out helps me produce higher quality work and assists me with my stress problem. One thing that has helped a lot is getting short easy assignments or parts of assignments done in short periods of extra time I have. For example, instead of turning on that TV, wait ten minutes and knock out an assignment. Another asset for myself has been setting dates to have assignments done. Although these assignments may not be due on that day, getting them done and out of the way, makes more time for other
