His name is Adrees Ahmad and he is the acting station manager of Oman Airlines. He assigned me as a team leader which shows that he was supportive and he believed in my leadership qualities. He took me in confidence and pushes me to absorb the job pressure and helped me in my role. We always had a two way communication between us and when ever any policy changes he discussed it with me and I covey that to my team members. Willingness to help others, selflessness, and strictness; these are the qualities of a both good and effective leader. Without these qualities, leadership would fail and being a leader would mean nothing.
An effective leader must be able to incorporate positive change with their vision in addition guide employees efforts along with the company’s mission with inspiration. An effective leader is confident. I am not afraid to speak to large groups of people and give directions. If I do not understand a task, I will not be afraid to ask for clarification. Additionally, I am a very outgoing person. This will aid me to be an effective leader because I will not be afraid to talk to new people or go out of my way to help a fellow band member who is in need. Another quality which will make me an effective leader is that I am a great listener. I will listen to all directions the first time they are spoken and execute them to the best of my ability. Also, because I am a good listener I will be able to learn things quickly. I take all advice and critiques to heart so I can improve my skills with each time I practice. Because I am able to receive directions the first time I will also be able to help my peers to complete the task as well and will be able to answer other members’ questions. An effective leader is also able to teach others. I have had a lot of experience with teaching others so I know I will be able to teach other marchers how to improve on their skills and become the best marchers they can be. Also because I am very patient, I will be able to work with members who are having a harder time with a certain task without getting angry or frustrated with them. According to Business Dictionary.com, leadership is defined as the individuals who are the leaders in an organization, regarded collectively. It also can be define as the activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability to do this. Leadership involves the establishing of a clear vision, sharing the vision with other so that they will follow willingly, providing the needed information, knowledge, and methods to realize the vision and coordinating and balancing the conflicts interests of all members and stakeholders.
The purpose of writhing this essay is to describe how to be an effective leader and how to lead a group to become a team. There are four principles of effective leadership will be described in the essay. The first principle is, to be an effective leader is a leader must have an extrovert personality. Second principle is, to be an effective leader is a leader must be able to delegate authority. Third principle is, to be an effective leader is the leader must able to maximize the potential ability of the followers. The last principle is, to be an effective leader is the leader must be able to make decision and take responsibility for the consequences. A good leader has to be persuasive, yet diplomatic in their leadership and not be a dictator (Plunkett, 2013). The weakness in the situational leadership theory is if a leader appears to be weak than the staff will take advantage of them. This means they will not respect authority. When staff members do not respect the leadership in an organization they will be less productive, lack motivation, some will even quit the job and move on to another job. The last thing any leader wants to appear is weak and fragile to their employees. An organization must have good communication with staff members and make them feel included even if it means asking them for advice. A good leader must be fair and impartial to ideas, goals, and missions that need to be accomplished in order for the organization to be successful. This means being persistent in getting staff members to participate in meetings (Schein, 2010). Communication is very important in any organization.
