Project Human Resource Management and Communication
This philosophy teaches project managers how to build a crew, develop a solid working foundation, manage individuals within their team, and effectively communicate with everyone involved with the project. This type of thought process is significant whenever risk and procurement management is being utilized especially involving the analysis, managing, planning, and development stages of human resources. This drawing articulates the scope of the project into an easy to follow illustration that everyone can visually comprehend. This is typically achieved by drawing a singular object on the diagram in order to symbolize the total completed project. Once this is accomplished, I would then divide the various components underneath the main topic or category into a waterfall or pyramid feature. In laments terms, the first or top components would be the deliverables and the bottom elements are the work packages. One of the best aspects of using a WBS in project management is that most of the assignments easily convert into these time saving diagrams. Although, this should be utilized by every project manager, the truth to the matter is that most supervisors simply do not have the knowledge or skill set to accomplish this essential duty. Conflict management is the art or ability of identifying and adjudicating workplace conflicts in a well-balanced, innocuous, practical, and utilitarian manner.
However, in order to accomplish this increasingly difficult task in a timely manner, one must be able to use unsullied negotiating and problem solving skills. By using this management tool, a project manager can safely diffuse any type of workplace confrontation by simply examining the facts and implementing a viable resolution.
Although, many managers feel that conflicts are uncommon in the workforce. I actually believe that an inevitable conflict is good for the team for various reasons. Identify the common roles in a human resource project. Then, analyze these roles to typical human resources functions. The common roles in a human resources project are the executive, managerial, and associate roles. The executive role consist of the steering team, chief projects officer, and sponsor. The responsibility of the steering team are to select, prioritize, and resource projects in accordance with the organization’s strategic planning and to ensure that accurate progress is made and adjustments are made. To make employees more valuable for the organization we need to go through some process for hiring and employee development. Human Resource Management (HRM) contains job analyses, planning personnel needs, recruiting the right people for the right place, orientation and training, handling wages and salaries, benefits and incentives, evaluating performance, managing disputes, and proper communicating with all employees. The HR management must have extensive knowledge about the industry, leadership, negotiation skills etc.
Kent Beck, the project leader will find using the WBS to make complex projects more manageable as it is designed to help break down projects into manageable chunks that can be effectively estimated and supervised. By creating a WBS include several benefits. For example it can help assist with accurate project company, helps with assigning responsibilities, shows the control points, project milestones, and allows for more accurate estimation of the triple constraint (cost, risk, and time) therefore helping to explain the project scope to stakeholders.
The WBS is a key decider of a project completion and success. As we’ve learned in class the WBS defines the project’s scope and any changes in the WBS will affect the scope of the project and vis-versa. If we weren’t provided with the detailed WBS of the project at the start, I wouldn’t know exactly how to allocate resources for each period. To think that a PM is responsible to develop a workable project WBS , using techniques like Top-Down and Bottom-Up, is very mind bottling and impressive. I’ve also learned of the importance of budget allocation. As stated earlier, I had a little bit of budgeting issues throughout the simulation. Even though I was over budget, like everybody in the class, I wasn’t too far off.
I have also been able to understand the responsibility of a project manager in bringing the people from different functional areas with specific skills to meet the project goals and objectives within the desired time. Even though, a project manager doesn’t have HR authority unless the project manager is a functional manger or in a projectized organization.
As we know, the term ‘human resource management’ underlines a belief that people really make the difference, only people among other resources have the capacity to generate value. However, the human resource management is considered as the ‘Cinderella’ in the organization as its importance has not been discovered by the senior managers, in addition, it has to share responsibilities with line managers, sometimes it takes more work than it is expected. Actions should be taken to help the Cinderella find her glass shoes.
In the globalized economy, Successful project managers are in much demand across many industries. Organizations strongly need experienced project managers to lead their staff to accomplish their business goals and deliver successful projects. In an increasingly complex environment, project managers need to turn into many roles and have all kinds of responsibilities at each level of management within an organization. Good project managers are not born. They need to be trained. They develop their skills through study, practise and experience. They become better project managers after they finish a successful project each time. They learn new techniques and apply them on their projects. They learn their lessons from failed projects and then improve to be better project managers in the future.

With much dedication and focus it is possible to use fewer workers to accomplish and execute a project. Human Resource Management (HRM) is fundamentally another name for personnel management. It is the process of making sure the employees are as creative as they can be. HRM is a way of grouping the range of activities associated with managing people that are variously categorised under employee relations, industrial/labour relations, personnel management and organisational behaviour. Many academic departments where research and teaching in all these areas take place have adopted the title department of human resources management. HRM is a coordinated approach to managing people that seeks to integrate the various personnel activates so that they are compatible with each other. Therefore the key areas of employee resourcing, employee development, employee reward and employee involvement are considered to be interrelated. Policy-making and procedures in one of these areas will have an impact on other areas, therefore human resources management is an approach that takes a holistic view and considers how various areas can be integrated.
