Extreme Skateboarding is unlike any sport in the world and the athletic talent, skill and agility to compete at that level is 1:100,000. In the future these events and these riders will be using some new high-tech toys, namely; The Hover Board. It is the wave of the Future. Speed is paramount for hoverboard tricks. If the speed is maintained as the rider increases altitude then the craft or hover board will get some help from aerodynamic lift if the rider uses proper techniques to control the board and has the skill to maintain some relationship with flight. A stalled out board that is too high off the ground will fall out of the sky and it will the riders responsibility to land up-right and use the ground cushion to break his fall. The
hoverboard operator will need to think in terms of the old adage; "Speed is Life" and maintain the speed as he increases in height. Actually, considering that skateboard riders already do this as they "Catch Air" off ramps this should not be too difficult and in the end hoverboards will allow for greater height and better control once airborne, unless the rider makes a mistake and departs from flight; in that case all bets are off, good luck, as the ground cometh. What kind of propulsion system will these high-tech hoverboards have? The ideal propulsion system would be a set of flat ion-lithium or lighter batteries, charged by a think film solar cell coating of the hover board's surface and a way to use a fast-charge system via 110v electricity socket. The blower units preferably would be 4-6 set in a specific pattern below the board. So far there are quite a few propulsion systems that have been floated and there are several companies, inventors and entrepreneurs who have workable prototypes all of which hold keys to the ultimate success for the hoverboard of the future.
Name: Jacques Core: 1/2 Should scooters be allowed at the skatepark? Scooters should not be allowed at skateparks because they are dangerous, skateparks are getting over populating and they don't invest time. My first reason that scooters shouldn't be allowed, is that scooters are dangerous.

The first skateboards were made in the 1950’s being used as an exciting activity to take part in when the waves were down. From then and now the sport has changed tremendously, thanks to a group of young skaters from a slum area of Venice Beach or Dog-town, as the locals called it, known as the z-boys in the 1970’s. Even though skateboarding was already known and invented, the z-boys are the ones who made skating famous and took it to new heights in popularity. But how did they do this? The Z-boys made this sport what it is today, and played a very important part in the history and evolution of skateboard style and quality.
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone from non existence in the late 1970’s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty-five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time & changes that has occurred in America.
This paper attempts to rationalize youth football as a sport by discussing the pros and cons in order to argue that youth should be allowed to play the game of football if they so choose. To do so, this paper will explore the ethical arguments and considerations of parents, young athletes, medical professionals and social media.
As skateboarding evolved, it was once something kids do in their free time, later became a prospering sport. This started many new changes to our local cities. “No skateboarding” signs are being posted places that skateboarders would go to practice. Architects are finding new ways to redesign structures like benches and handrails in the city, in order to lower the abundance of skateboarder in an area. All these changes have resulted in a good amount of money spent redoing everything to prevent skateboarding, but nothing is being done to give skateboarders a safe place to skate. For young teens whose only transportation is a skateboard, they can only travel so far, and skateparks are not close enough. To eliminate the amount of skateboarders in heavily populated areas, I propose that cities invest more money into building skateparks so skateboarders have a safe place to practice the sport.
What do you think it would be like to be the best in the world at something, but you still feel empty inside? Rodney Mullen knows exactly how that feels. In the late 1970’s and 1980’s, skateboarding became very popular. After a few years of skating everyday, Rodney became the best in the world. But with success, there comes struggles too. Rodney had his fair share of both. Although Mullen had struggles throughout his entire life, he became a major influence and success in the skateboarding industry.
During my visitation I explored my mentor, Bob Waller’s, workshop where he builds his company’s boards. He explained to me all the distinct deck shapes and the riding styles for those deck shapes. I learned from my visitation that longer decks are usually used for carving and pumping similar to the shape of ride style of a surf board. Slightly shorter boards are usually used for hill bombing and slightly shorter than those are primarily reserved for freestyle and free riding. Some decks can also be lowered or commonly known as drop down. I learned from my research that these lowered decks can provide more stability because the rider’s center of gravity would be lower. Therefore drop down decks are usually used for freestyle
“Engaging in community service provides students with the opportunity to become active members of their community and has a lasting, positive impact on society at large.” I chose to do community service as my way of practicing democracy in my society. For years, I have been spending a lot of time at the Berkeley Skatepark located right next to the Gabe Catalfo Soccer Fields. Berkeley Skatepark is where I grew up and where I developed many of my skateboarding skills. Thanks to Berkeley Skatepark staying open until 9:30PM, I always had somewhere to go whenever I wanted to skate at night. I know many of the workers and counselors/mentors that work with kids at the skatepark, but I had never thought of becoming on of them. For my act of community
Gender inequality is present in all sorts of sports including skateboarding. Skateboarding has been around since the 1950’s and women are not treated correctly in the sport to this day. Just because women are treated incorrectly does not stop them from skateboarding, in fact, it makes them raise with passion. Six articles provide examples of women standing up for themselves, being treated wrongly, show facts and statistics. From women starting a movement, to women having profound unfairness in the sport. These women are standing up for themselves no matter how they are treated by society. Overall, women are making a difference in the skateboarding culture and their actions are profound.
Have you seen the 2018 winter olympics? You might have seen a thrilling scene with a huge jump! This olympic event is called “ Big Air.” This chilling sport has actually been around for some time, even though it’s the first time in the Olympics. The first ever big air competition was held in Austria 1994. It was not as popular as it is now but the X games brought it back in 2008, after that it has become one of snowboardings popular attractions.
Learning to long board is a much more challenging task than one might think; it requires coordination, balance, and skill. Throughout the learning process, how I thought about it and how I approached it changed a lot. In the beginning I thought longboarding was going to be easy, and take no time at all; very much to my surprise, I was extremely wrong.
They are slower moving and they are not great when it comes to surfing. With that idea in mind, you should also understand that there are inflatable stand up paddle boards that can work just as well for surfing or racing. You simply have to look a little harder to find them.
If a person enjoys extreme water sports, then kiteboarding is definitely something you will love to experience. Kiteboarding is a mixture of some of the most popular water sports today. Kiteboarding includes extremely fast speeds, awesome tricks and carving turns from other board sports, and the extreme jumps that provide big air that are not like any other of the water sports today (Wies). Kiteboarding includes many steps in the learning process and many types of equipment that are essential to help avoid the risks of unwanted accidents.
