Have you seen the 2018 winter olympics? You might have seen a thrilling scene with a huge jump! This olympic event is called “ Big Air.” This chilling sport has actually been around for some time, even though it’s the first time in the Olympics. The first ever big air competition was held in Austria 1994. It was not as popular as it is now but the X games brought it back in 2008, after that it has become one of snowboardings popular attractions. Have you ever been snowboarding before? I will have to say snowboarding is pretty tricky especially big air. While you are in the air a team of six judges drop the highest and lowest scores. The remaining four scores are averaged for each run. The judges will judge from scale 1-100. Scoring is based
around the D-E-A-L criteria. You have to be pretty athletic to be in the olympics. While you are competing to be in the big air category, athletes say you have to be good at rotation tricks which are very difficult. The athletes have to have a lot of control of the board. And they have to hold the board as long as possible. The sport is not exactly judged on how high the athlete goes and is more about how accurate the athlete is. To get a decent score the athlete has to must land with full control and they must complete the trick. Therefore, big air is an incredible sport and I hope i could try it out someday.

Some other factors that can come into play are: snow conditions, the type of snowboard, and experience of the rider. Which are much more advanced topics, and way beyond the scope of what we're worrying about here. What I am mainly going to be looking at are the basic characteristics of your average snowboard jump.
Throughout time, the progression and evolution of snowboarding has increased greatly. It has gone from non existence in the late 1970’s, to one of the most watched action sports in a matter of thirty-five years. The upward takeoff and popularity of snowboarding relies on two people, Jake Burton and Shaun White. Jake Burton back in 1977 had the vision for what snowboarding would be, but Shaun White had what it took to manifest that vision. Evidence has shown that time brings change in sports, history has repeated itself with snowboarding, this history reflects the time & changes that has occurred in America.

Cheerleading is just like football and basketball it is a game where you compete and get points. But with cheerleading it is not about throwing the ball accost a field or making a basket. Imagine being on the top of the world, on a bitter cold mountain, over top of an enormous crowd. Below where you stand, the lustrous lights are shining on a massive jump, that seems larger than the mountain itself, created for the professional snowboard competition. This gargantuan jump will decide whether you win or lose the competition. Becoming a professional snowboarder has been a dream to me ever since I first was beginning to snowboard. Being on top of the enormous slope and strapping into my bindings instantly made me relaxed and put a grin larger than the slope itself on my face. Everytime I glide down the face of the mountain I become focused and dialed in on my riding. When becoming a professional snowboarder as an occupation, I would
There is no arguing Walt Disney practiced what he preached. In fact, he did what he did so well that people continue to bring others to see what he did to this day, that being Disneyland. First, we’ll start by learning about the background history of Disneyland. Next, we’ll compare Disneyland from when it first started to what it has developed into. And finally, we’ll explore all the eight parks and what they have to offer.
Attention Getter: Mia Hamm. Peyton Manning. Steve Nash. Here are just a few great athletes that most of us have heard of. But what is it that makes us look up to them? What is it that makes them great? The truth is that sports are only a small part of what makes a person worthy of looking up to.
As practitioners in the Orthotics and Prosthetic field we owe our patients not only our skills of mind and hand, but also the encouragement to live their lives to the fullest. We want them to have a life worth living in spite of whatever physical difficulties they possess. There are many ways to accomplish this, but one of the lesser known is adaptive snow sports.
Everyone thinks barrel racing is a boring, girl, rodeoing event. It is not. Barrel racing is a fun, exciting, not just a girls rodeo event. I am going to tell you a story about how barrel racing changed a girl’s life and how she changed the sport of barrel racing. I am going to tell you about Amberley Snyder. She was in an accident and she thought she was never gonna be able to ride her horses again and not even barrel race. But Snyder never gave up. She knew that if she gave up, she would never be happy again. She didn't not gave up. She helped work with her horses to make it so she could ride again. She practiced very hard in order for her to barrel race again. She never gave up. She thought about giving up, but she never gave up.
At the age of 15, Amy Purdy decided that she loved to snowboard. When she started snowboarding, she learned to have confidence in herself and love all the great things about life. When Amy was 19, she was excited about her future and what was ahead, but never thought about what happened next. At the age of 19, Amy had Neisseria meningitis, which led to the failure of her kidneys and the removal of her spleen. But, it also caused the amputation of both of her legs when her body went into shock. Her body stopped the blood flow to her legs to help save her organs. But, she is very healthy to this day. Before, during, and after this tragedy popped into her life, she knew that snowboarding would always be a part of her life forever. When she was in the hospital, all she could think about is how she’s going to snowboard again and what it’s going to take to get back on a board. Before Amy lost her legs, she was a massage therapist who loved to snowboard and wanted to see the world. With her future changed, Amy was still determined to do the same things she did before, but just differently. She knew she couldn’t quit, because quitting meant giving up things that were most important in her life. While Amy was in the hospital, she claims her doctor said, whatever you believe in, think about it right now. When that happened, Amy thought in her head about love. She believed in loving life, loving each other, and loving to snowboard. Now, this is what inspires her today. Even though she loved snowboarding, she never thought about going to the Olympics until after she lost her legs. She went to the 2014 Sochi Paralympics and won a bronze medal. She also started Adaptive Action Sports to create opportunities for people with physical disabilities...

My collage had plenty of pictures of snowboarding images, Colorado mountains, and tree covered in snow. The first time I snowboarded I was about 5 years old I went to Hesperus Colorado. In 2013, I had my first bad accident, it was at purgatory ski resort. It was a two-part situation. The reason I say that is because it all happened within two weeks. Snowboarding is really a family activity. The only thing I’ve truly learned from snowboarding is if you have a bad feeling in your gut like you shouldn’t be doing something-trust your instincts. My parents ski. They do not board, but I’ve tried convincing them to board but they will not. I think culture has a lot to do with tradition, in our case our tradition is to go to Purgatory Mountain and
Swimming paddles, much like swimming fins, can be used for playing in the water. They can help kids and adults alike swim faster and move through more water with each stroke. But care has to be taken when using them, to avoid shoulder injuries and strains. They're actually best used during swim training and for athletes who are training for a triathlon or other open water swims. Pose swimming, which focuses on keeping more of the body at the top of the water for buoyancy, is one situation where swimming paddles can make a huge difference in training.
