Consolidation is a key word being used by many in the Fire Service today. Whether it is consolidation of equipment, manpower, stations, or just Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). The reason for this change is due to the economic slowdown that we are all currently facing on every level, personal, business, and governmental. When this occurs the tax payers start to look at how their tax dollar are being spent. To assist in spending those tax dollars wisely the fire service has begun to investigate how to consolidate without losing services.

The fire service has to look to its future to make sure there will be one. They need to look for ways to cut spending and control the budget, consolidation could very well be that answer. When we continue …show more content…

In support of consolidation of fire services, Bruegman (June-July,1994), who was chief of the Hoffman Estates, Illinois Fire Department, indicates that one of the most effective ways for reducing our expenses while at the same time enhancing our service levels could be consolidation. The savings would depend upon the particular circumstances of each jurisdiction. He also feels that great savings could be realized nationally, even with a constant or increased level of service to the communities involved in consolidation.

Results
As for the results more time needs to be given for to all surveys to be returned. A committee made up of all three administrations, the firefighters from Countryside and representatives of both Local 4224 from Lincolnshire Riverwoods and Local 4632 from Deerfield Bannockburn will need to sit down and investigate what will be needed to make this happen. The Biggest hurdle to get past will be the fact that all three organizations belong to three different EMS systems, one from different region this is a huge
