Have you ever been driving down a narrow road, notice a vehicle coming from the opposite direction and begin to worry about being sideswiped or running off the road? That’s how it feels driving on Mississippi University for Women’s campus. Narrow roads that present this problem on campus like 5th Avenue and 12th Street need to be widened to improve driving conditions and there are some cost-efficient solutions to do so.
There are many areas on campus that present terrible traffic conditions due to narrow roads. Majority of these streets have added congestion from the parallel parking that lines at least one side of the road. Two examples of roads that illustrate these issues are 5th Avenue and 11th Street. 5th Avenue is one of the main ways

One solution would be to remove all (or at least majority) of the parallel parking spaces that line the narrow roads on campus. To offset the lost parking spaces, a new parking lot (or even gravel lot—depending on the amount of money willing to be spent) can be fabricated. Some teachers, however, may be in objection to this solution since it will prohibit them from no longer being able to park directly in front of their building. An easy solution to this problem would be transforming the closest student parking spots into teacher’s parking. By doing this, it would only require teachers to walk a few steps further than they normally would but would also provide a new convenience of getting in and out of their parking spot as well as to and from the parking lot. One other efficient solution would be to transform these current two-way streets into one-way streets. With the way MUW campus is set up, it would be relatively simple to make this transition because, for instance, 12th street could be altered into a north-bound-only street and the south-bound lane could be redirected onto 13th street. Making these two parallel roads into one-way streets, would allow more driving space resulting in a much less congested, confusing, and problematic drive through campus. In this solution there would be no objections from teachers nor students about the loss of parallel parking spots since the parallel parking spots would remain along these one-way roads. These solutions would allow for a much more efficient traffic flow on
Travelling across the country in an old Ford Model T would never be easy; but, traveling in a Model T on a bumpy dirt road with ruts and holes, almost unbearable. Thankfully, many advances in America’s roadway systems came about in the 1900s. Traveling from one city to another became not only quicker and easier, but also safer, thanks to the many innovations that roadways experienced over the last century. Many engineers put in a lot of time and effort to make these innovations and need to be accredited for their scientific achievements. However, getting to the roadway system that we take for granted today did not happen overnight. It took new technology and some brilliant minds to bring the pieces together to form the luxury of nice, smooth

The 2700 block of Foothill Blvd is an east-west two-lane roadway with a marked left turn lane and a marked lane for vehicles to parallel park. The 2800 block of Foothill is a “T” intersection with 28th Ave in a southbound direction. On 26 Jun 16, it was a sunny and windy day. There were vehicles parked on the north and south of Foothill Blvd in
Anytime the idea of making any corrections or additions to the parking lot comes up in a discussion, the notion is put down due to the time the parking lot would be unusable while under renovation. How long does it take pavers to put in a residential driveway? A licensed and bonded concrete crew can lay multiple driveways in one day, and to add an entrance to the parking lot is very comparable. Therefore, if the school shut down the front parking lot for less than a week, students could enter and exit the parking lot quickly and with ease or the school could schedule the work for days the students have off..
...the school eventually gets enough funding they could build more student lots in more well-located spaces, which would greatly reduce the problem. Removing certain designated letter labeled parking lots would construct a first come first served system for everyone, reducing the amount of tickets issued. Parking has become a problem concerning many more students compared to staff. With enough funding, voting, and hard work, I think that eventually they will think of more ways to make parking more convenient for everyone.
Parking on campus needs improving. Students entering the university are allowed to have a car on campus. With every new freshmen class entering parking posses a problem on campus. The campus is already limited in its parking on campus and since freshmen are allowed to have cars, the students before them are faced with the dilemma of how many new freshmen will be bringing a car to school.
We can attack and reduce the dangers of aggressive driving. Each of us should take a look at our own driving habits and those of our friends and loved ones. The government can help with road improvements and law enforcement, but solving this problem will require people to change their behavior. Working together, we can make our roads safer and prevent deaths and injuries.
• South lot: The city is leasing 60 feet along Lander for the overpass project. Once the contractor mobilizes, significant parking will be lost. Once the by-pass road across Lander is completed, the flagpole and totem pole is relocated and the driveway onto 3rd Avenue South is converted to a two-way driveway, we will be able to determine how much general-purpose parking will remain. Disabled parking will not change. • North lot: Any restricted parking with signs and markings is not available for general-purpose use.
It is hard to find parking on campus, especially during rush hours. Both students and professors are encountering trouble for this crisis. As a simple example, the parking lot next to the Sarkeys building is always full. This problem is a continuous, daily hazard. As a student required to maintain a lot of class schedules and activities, I suffer from the parking problem daily and find that others encounter the same. It is true that the university is working on a new parking garage, but during the construction process, there is no alternative way to settle the crisis. The official home page of OU parking and transportation services is a source to consider for exploring the problem.
Richard Petty once said “You’ll got home safe, so drive safe, and stay safe.” Being a racing legend, he is an advocate for safe driving to minimise the cases of road crushes that have been on the rise. He double up as the chairman of the Veterans’ Safe Driving Initiative, the initiative is aimed at guiding the veterans returning from deployment on safe driving tips. It is necessarily important since the infrastructure has changed over time. Another initiative is being run in Minnesota where the teens are guided on the important safe driving tips. Study shows that more crushes are likely to occur in teen driving than veteran driving. It is also evident that young drivers are more likely to cause a crush within six months of passing the driving test and young male are worse than the females in the field.
Parking at Wichita State University is terrible. Residents of Shocker Hall and Fairmount Towers are mostly affected by this; they are forced to park almost two and a half miles from their dorms - and an on-call shuttle system has been set up for them by the administration. If students wanted to park for free close to campus, the most ideal place they would consider parking, is on the streets. However, this has become a problem to the neighborhoods around campus as complains of driveway infringements from the adjacent local resident has been brought to the administration’s attention. Coupled with parking availability, now students can park on campus only if they purchased a $120 parking permit annually.
Finding an empty parking space is a common problem in most urban areas which especially occurs in popular areas and tourist attraction spots. This situation has become more serious especially during their peak time, be it holiday seasons ,carnivals or any other festivals. The limited availability of vacant parking spaces often result in traffic congestion. Limitation of a driver’s capability of finding a vacant parking spaces and absence of efficient management are also at fault causing this problem.
One challenge that is faced on a daily bases for a college student is being able to find a parking spot. The majority of the student body drives to school with no guaranty that they will be able to station their car in the school zone. Although there’s always a way by avoiding this problem by means of other transportations, however students would prefer driving to school and for that reason a solution to the lack of parking spaces in the college campus is to assign each parking space with a number. Many colleges lack parking spaces inside campus, and it is a problem for not only students who are trying to get to class on time, but also for neighbors who live in the area near the college. One may say that there are many other things to worry
Traffic engineers and planners need information about traffic. They need information to design and manage road and traffic system. They use the information for planning and designing traffic facilities, selecting geometric standards, economic analysis and determination of priorities. They use this to justify warrant of traffic control devices such as signs, traffic signals, pavement markings, school and pedestrian crossings. The also use this information to study the effectiveness of introduced schemes, diagnosing given situations and finding appropriate solutions, forecasting the effects of projected strategies, calibrating and validating traffic models.
Traffic Congestion is defined as a condition of traffic delay (when the flow of traffic is slowed below reasonable speeds) because the number of vehicles trying to use the road exceeds the traffic network capacity to handle them. It is widely viewed as a growing problem in many urban areas across Namibia as well as other countries, because the overall volume of vehicle traffic in many areas continues to grow faster than the overall capacity of the transportation system. The resulting traffic slowdowns can now have a wide range of negative effect on the business economy and other sectors. Urban traffic congestion affects producers of economic goods and services in terms of business costs, productivity, and output, and how producers are variously sensitive to congestion. ()
