Narcotics, guns and violence, the powerful elements of the never ending war. All these elements are part of the campaign to rid the world of the disaster that drugs so ferociously have inflicted upon America. The war, created by The United States’ demand and government circumstances, has been fighting drug lords and opportunists. The United States has for the past three decades declared that it is in a full fledged attack against drugs and the violence it fosters. For decades billions and billons of dollars have been justified through the infamous War on Drugs. The drug problem has not stopped. The money and military activity have not been enough, and the “urban problem,” has not been solved. It is that our governments do not have the strategic smarts to solve the problem? The United States has the largest demand of drugs in the world. While other countries also face the drug problem, The United States has spent the most and its effectiveness is questionable. Today’s “War on Drugs,” is merely the justification to the apprehension of many U.S. interest enemies and has been a loop hole to exploit many developing countries in South and Central America. The commerce that the narcotics create transcends the social, economic, political and cultural aspects. The corruption that the United States is trying to fight will not end as long as the organized corruption and demand in the United States is in existence. The demand for narcotics in the United States has remained very strong, and even increased, since the War on Drugs was declared. The United States continually points to the suppliers of the narcotics and foreign mafia bosses who run organizations as the primary causes of the difficulty of the War. It is portrayed by the media... ... middle of paper ... ... Department of Health and Human Resources. 29 May 2014 < http://www.oas.samhsa.gov/nhsda.htm>. PBS Online. Along with the threat of terrorism is the threat of illegal drugs. “The consumers of illegal drugs often commit crimes to support their habits” (Cooper) and this must be seceded in the United States. Not only are the illegal drugs that pour into America bad for health but “Federal spending to combat drugs has increased from $1.5 billion in 1981 to $12 billion in 1992” (Cooper). Drugs

The HCV virus measures about 50 nm in diameter; it is classified as a separate genus (Hepacivirus) within the Flaviviridae family. It is the virus that causes Hepatitis C. This family of viruses all has ribonucleic acid (RNA) as their genetic material. “All hepatitis C viruses have an outer coat or envelope and contain enzymes and proteins that allow the virus to reproduce within the cells of the body, in this case, liver cells.” There are at least six strains of the hepatitis C virus, and they all have this structure but have different genotypes. These ...
Hepatitis C is a global burden that gives rise to serious liver complications. Thus, it is very crucial to eradicate this disease. Since there is no vaccine, drugs combinations become important elements in treating hepatitis C globally. Hepatitis C virus (HCV) is previously dealt with using combinations of drugs such as pegylated interferon (PEG-IFN) and ribavirin (RVB). These drugs are dependent on several factors such as HCV genotype, treatment duration, past treatment, side effects and the patient condition. In 2013, a promising antiviral drug, sofosbuvir, brings hope to the eradication of all genotypes of HCV. This bibliography would evaluate the effectiveness and safety of sofosbuvir in treating chronic hepatitis C either in combination with other drugs or alone. In addition to that, this bibliography and the following literature review will highlight the impact of sofosbuvir in the global eradication of hepatitis C. Add citation
All in all, the ideas surrounding the criminal justice system were affirmed by the field practice experience. Many open doors have resulted from the venture into the field of probation. As an advocate and future employee of the criminal justice system the skills and intellect gained from the college of criminal justice at SHSU along with the internship opportunity with the Dallas County Adult Probation Department will serve as a path to a successful career. The talented individuals and extraordinary situations encountered on the journey will not be forgotten.
These issues related to overloading casework are complicated by additional trends in community-based corrections. Probation was once a place for relatively low-level offenders that posed little threat to public safety and were mostly in need of pro-social steering (Petersilia,1998) (DeMichele, 2007). Probation and Parole reviewed each and every case files in simplest for compliance with many division policies and procedures. Probation and Parole compares the number of contacts in and at different field officers made to the number of contacts required to be made to ensure the offender are assigned to the correct level of supervision based on the division's availability, and determined if violation and case summary reports are completed in a timely and accurately (McCaskill, 2006).

This paper will tell the story of why it is important that the criminal justice field have probation officers, and what they do daily for our community. When we think of the probation field, we think that they have it the easiest, but sadly that is far from true. You will learn how hard of a job it can be for probation officers, and just how much they have on their plate.
Drug abuse has changed over the years due to the trends that Americans face from the encouragement of different cultures. The abuse of substances creates many health problems. The following will discuss the past and current trends of drug use and the effects these drugs have on the health of the individuals who abuse the drugs.
The United States has a long history of intervention in the affairs of one it’s southern neighbor, Latin America. The war on drugs has been no exception. An investigation of US relations with Latin America in the period from 1820 to 1960, reveals the war on drugs to be a convenient extension of an almost 200 year-old policy. This investigation focuses on the commercial and political objectives of the US in fighting a war on drugs in Latin America. These objectives explain why the failing drug policy persisted despite its overwhelming failure to decrease drug production or trafficking. These objectives also explain why the US has recently exchanged a war on drugs for the war on terrorism.
The increased growth of probationers has placed a strain on the workload of probation officers throughout time creating a less personal approach to community corrections (Still et. al., 2016). A revamping, restructuring, as well as revision of the revenue allotted to community corrections, is required to allow for an increased success rate of probation. As noted earlier in my response, the majority of offenders within the United States are assigned to community corrections shifting away from incarceration. This shift is setting the stage for an opportunity to revise the way probation and parole are handled to allow for an increased success rate of reform through the use of proven effective rehabilitation strategies similar to those used by John Augustus.

According to my research, “at its inception the primary role for probation was as a form of social work that focused on rehabilitation and securing job and housing” (Hsieh, Hafoka, Woo, Wormer, Stohr, & Hemmens, n.d., p.21). Probation officers have to provide counseling while providing surveillance at the same time, which can cause a conflict (Latessa, Smith, 2011). Probation officers can assist offenders through various ways. One way is by helping them with re-entry into the community. Re-entry into the community can be one of the hardest steps an offender can face when they have spent an amount of time locked up. A probation officer can assist the offender with re-entry by helping them find a place to live and/or helping them obtain employment.
