Introduction The national trust was founded in 1895. It protects over 350 historic houses, gardens and ancient monuments. This organisation is a charity which does not rely funds from government but depends on membership fees and donations from members. "We're a charity that works to preserve and protect historic places and spaces – for ever, for everyone." (National trust 2013) This report will be based on an analysis of the national trust organisation, the external audit will be examined using the pestle analysis and porters 5 forces, whilst the internal audit will be interpreted by engaging with the marketing mix. Furthermore the report will also include a swot analysis and recognise the target market of the national trust organisation. Lastly the report will also recommend future actions and procedures to prevent loss of customers. PESTLE analysis A PESTLE analysis is a macro environmental framework used to understand the impact of the external factors on the organization. PESTLE stands for "Political, Economic, Social, Technological, Legal and Environment” factors. The National Trust is a charity which is independent from Government funding. However, they rely on the support of the public customers through membership and donations. Therefore the national trust is a registered charity which is also entitled to certain tax exceptions on their income and profits made from trading activities. Television ads with celebrities are often used to solicited donations. Saint Jude has also partnered with various stores to silicate donations from their customers in turn for the donation the donor receives a stuffed teddy bear. Knowing that through the giving of a donation, helping of a hand at a volunteer event, or perhaps even just a few kind words of encouragement towards a neighbor, one can develop as a volunteer. Knowing through it all that there are discrepancies within non-profit organizations, as many work to acquire funds inappropriately and mislead its benefactors. Considering the good and the bad, it is to be said that a tremendous amount of good can be done through a non-profit organization and its many volunteers. Many have devoted their time, money, and efforts towards the act of relieving many from adversity, will you?
Having a wish fulfilled is a desire everyone keeps, but granting one is a special characteristic of a chosen few. Such is the ideology of the Make a wish foundation. This simple, but powerful belief is what drives the Make-A-Wish foundation. For children who must face the uncertainty of a tomorrow, due to their rapidly deteriorating health, a wish is more than just a desire. It’s a hope. Hope is what carries us out of the darkest of slums, to keep going. To face a tomorrow. Make-A-Wish is committed to granting the wish of every eligible child. They do this believing that wishes can make sick children feel better, and sometimes, when they feel better, they get better. Since the spring of 1980, they have been granting the wishes of children diagnosed with a life-threatening medical conditions. The make a wish foundation has the ability to not only unite a society as whole and further the awareness of life threatening illnesses, but also gives hope to individuals and a community as a whole.

The first phase of a strategic analysis, Macro Environmental Analysis, commonly referred to a PESTLE framework, is the assessment of opportunities and threats to the industry where the firm belongs that is outside the control of our industry. The PESTLE stands for Political, Economic, Socio-cultural, Technological, Legal and Environmental (Pestle-Macro environmental analysis, 2012), describes a framework of macro-environmental factors used in the environmental scanning component of strategic management, forming part of the external analysis when making a strategic analysis; it basically gives an overview of the different macro environmental factors that the company has to consider. Strategic PESTLE Analysis helps us identify the growth or decline tendencies, business position, possible threats, and direction for operation.
Technological change, change in economic climate, natural occurrences and such-like are matters that concern the macro-environment of a business. These external, uncontrollable, influences can and will impact hugely on the success or failure of a business. One of the tools that are applicable in considering these factors is PESTLE. Political; Environmental; Social; Technological; Legal and Economic considerations will need to be engaged in order to prepare the business for macro-environmental influences. For this reason, PESTLE will be the most appropriate tool to use to identify and outline the main macro-environmental factors that may affect my business.
