The primary function of the ISP is to provide intense supervision of offenders under conditions established by the Juvenile Court. The ISP probation officers supervise a specialized caseload and work with the most serious violent offenders and chronic non-violent offenders (https://brgov.com/dept/juvenile/isp.htm). There are a lot of offenders that could participate in this program such as sex offenders, gang members, domestic violence adults, and etc. This program can help them make positive changes in their lives before its too late. A candidate that i would find perfect for this program is an alcoholic who beats on his families every time he gets drunk. There are many reasons why he would be a good candidate first has to do with the alcohol abuse. The program helps rehabilitate the offenders on staying clean if he stays clean his attitude and personality may change. Next is the abuse since he tends to get violent with his family he is tearing his family apart and putting fear into them. The program helps by closely monitoring probationers and help them establish relationships with there families and others. They get a better understanding for the offender and the families with the program also by stepping in. A lot of alcoholics abusers are either hitting rock bottom with there job, family, themselves if the program is there last …show more content…
Now they have computers, tablets, garden areas and more. This is when it becomes a problem for us tax payers. Jail and prison is set up for individuals who commit crimes and have to deal with the consequences. They should not be provided with the same luxury as those who didn 't commit a crime. Some of them are receiving the luxury that people outside of prison/jail are not receiving. If anything we should be giving the schools tablets before the prisons. They should focus on things such as getting them more books, and counseling not things for entertainment.
I believed this was the best solution, until high school that is. In the article “New Report Details Devastating Effects Of Mass Incarceration On The U.S.” Matt Ferner, national reporter for the Huffington Post, states that the United States is home to “5 percent of the world’s population, but it houses
Police took 16.5 year old Michael C. which was also on probation in juvenile court into custody. Michael C. had been on probation since the age of 12. Approximately one year earlier, he had served a term in a youth corrections camp under the supervision of the Juvenile Court. He had a record of several previous offenses,
The juvenile case of Ricky Smith was brought to the attention of the Michigan Juvenile Court as he had been initially referred for truancy. However, his probation had been extended due to Mr. Smith being found driving a stolen vehicle. According to People v. Smith (1991), Mr. Smith was referred to the juvenile court again for riding a bicycle while under the influence of alcohol and for stealing candy bars. The juvenile court, again, chose to extend Mr. Smith’s probation, even though he had clearly demonstrated non-compliance with the rules of his probation by continuing to accrue delinquent charges. An additional report was filed with the court alleging that Mr. Smith had violated the terms of his probation due to a curfew infraction and threatened an officer. It appears that the Assistant District Attorney in the case attempted to have Mr. Smith’s case transferred to adult criminal court after he had been charged with stealing a woman’s purse. However, the court denied the request to do so. After the denial, Mr. Smith was sentenced to a boy’s reform school. He absconded from the facility and was listed as a runaway until he was found later, as an adult, with pending adult charges.
Clinical Supervision is the life wire of any health are professional. It is the on the job teaching that takes place between the supervisor and supervisee. It is a lifelong learning used for personal and professional development which is useful both in nursing education and clinical practice. Its benefit cannot be overemphasized as it is known to improve job satisfaction and prevention of stress /burnout. Supervision is important because it allows the novice to gain knowledge, skill and commitment.
...ible child offender is not a good idea, due to the fact that there are various characteristics that do not align with just one possible profile. A person who seems to be normal according to society’s standards can turn out to be an offender. It is typical for an abuser to withdraw from society, refrain from all socialization, but these characteristics are not always common in all cases. For the most part abusers appear to have normal characteristics according to society’s standards. It is more important to try and recognize possible abuse that may be occurring, than to try to identify those who are committing the abuse.
There has been a number of broad extent of literature with respect to clinical supervision and there are a variety of existing models and approachable method of clinical supervision, for instance, practice-centred supervision, problem-focused model, cognitive behaviour psychotherapy model and work discussion group model. In this article, two models of clinical supervision will be described, they are proctor’s model and cognitive behaviour psychotherapy model supervision.
Juvenile court is a special court that deals with under age defendants that are charged with crimes, who are neglected, or out of their parent’s control. The average age of the Defendants are younger than 18, but juvenile court doesn’t have jurisdiction in cases in which a minor is charged as an adult. The procedure of juvenile court is to involve parents or social workers and probation officers in order to achieve positive results and prevent minors from future crimes. However, serious crimes and repeated offenses can result in the juvenile offender being sentenced to a prison, with a transfer to a state prison when they reach adulthood. According to the film “Prison States”, Christel Tribble’s was a 15-year-old from Kentucky who was diagnosed
...ecause they had to pay for their education and receive a high SAT score and other qualifications to be accepted at a college, I think it is important not to let these lives slip away. It would not be of any use to lock them up for many years and then release them into the world with nothing on their hands. It is more expensive for a state to pay for a second imprisonment than to pay for a college education and everyone should have a right to learn. This right is infringed by the college system in itself as it does not give everyone a chance to earn a degree, not by Prison Education. And secondly, the “pains of imprisonment” are hard enough and I think any inmate would trade places with us. Education does not reduce this pain; it should be a matter of course to help these people have a chance at a successful life. It should after all be a rehabilitative punishment.
A significant benefit of ISP is the cost effectiveness. On average it cost about $60 a day to house a person in prison unlike the only $8 dollars to supervise a criminal in the community. (njpt.uscourts.gov) I like how there are different “levels” of ISPs, grouping the criminals with the level of supervision needed for him or her. It gives the participant (of ISP’s) responsibility but still having to keep up priorities that could have may happened in jail as well: (1) participating in treatment programming, breathalyzer tests, random urinalysis tests, unannounced home visits, working, and paying bills and court ordered obligations. It is also an effective form due to the strict program that has to be followed; along, that it is offered in the juvenile court system. I also think community service would be another effective form of intermediate sanctions. This helps hold offenders accountable for the harm they have caused to the community and help improve the quality of public environments, business, etc in a community. Community service also provides offenders an opportunity of skill development and interaction with positive role
Prisons have been around for decades. Keeping housed, those of our society who have been convicted
In conclusion, some people want to change their life around, it can change people when they come out of prison, and it will increase that amount of crimes. is very important to, should prison inmates be able to take college courses. Many people in the world think that this is a good idea because it could change so much in this world. A famous author, Mark Twain, who wrote, The Wit and Wisdom of Mark Twain, once stated ,”Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” It is amazing that they have thought about having a classes in prison for
Supervision is essential for teaching ethical decision-making, developing and maintain competency, obtaining licensure, decreasing malpractice suits, and improving services for clients (Campbell, 2006). However, being a competent supervisor goes beyond being a skilled, experienced practitioner (Campbell, 2006). Competent supervisors understand the purpose of supervision (Campbell, 2006). Clinical supervision is distinct from administrative supervision in that clinical supervision focuses on developing skills, increasing competency, and conveying ethical values to the supervisee (Campbell, 2006). As opposed to administrative supervision, clinical supervision focuses on formative feedback, as opposed to retroactive evaluation (Campbell, 2006).
I believe that society should treat children who have committed crimes like regular children. Children are a product of their environment and according to the American philosopher/sociologists George Mead; children develop their personality when they are young by mimicking or imitating others. It is easier to teach and influence people when they are younger rather than when they are older. I believe while the child is incarcerated they should be treated like a regular child who needs guidance. This includes schooling, attending regular class sessions, and having homework while being detained. Also, having people who are willing to come and tutor them come to the detention center.
Personal Philosophy of Supervision Beliefs and Philosophy School administrators are important in setting the path for a successful school (Glickman, et al., 2014). The principals could play a dynamic leadership depending on how they exercise their beliefs of the organizational and social environment (McNair, 2011). The principals are the primary facilitators for developing the foundations in learning that will last, to manage the student’s performance at schools, and seeking the improvement at school that will cause great impacts in school‘s education (Gordon,1989). In the recent years in the U.S., education has change in a more cultural diversity population, it is imperative that school supervisors, are trained to encounter this cultural issues, but also assisting others with the opportunities to develop appropriate abilities to deal with different cultures (Glickman, et al., 2014). Even though this increasing awareness of the multicultural issues, many supervisors are not being trained how to deal with this issues in the daily practice.
Youre absolutley correct in you thinking that Low-risk offenders dont belong in a correctional facility that also housing high-risk offenders. One must always remember you become a product of your enivormne weather its good or bad. So placing a Low-risk offender will only make them seasonal criminals once they are release back into society. I also notice that their wasnt alot of data for low-risk offenders. Instead of a treatment / facility lets take that money and spend it on areas for improving juvenile in the community. An After school faclity to assist with school work, organizte sports, etc.
