Week 11 Final Assessment It is very important for every business to have a global code of conduct as it sets a comprehensive ethical and behavioral guideline about the decisions that the organization makes in their everyday activities. A global code of conduct makes sure that all of the organizations standards are set high for conducting effective business in both a legal and ethical manner. All of the employees within the organization are expected to comply with all of the guidelines and polices that are stated in the global code of conduct. The global code of conduct gives the organization the opportunity to be able to make it extremely clear to all of its employees and also stakeholders of how the organization seeks to do business. The global code is one of the most important keys to being able to adopt ethical communication within your organization. This code should focus more on the value system that the global company uses rather than on how the employees act with respect to the laws of their local jurisdiction. The code must also include all business lines, employees, and departments. Although it can be really difficult to cover all of the aspects at a global level, you must try to add different sections that cover all the different jurisdictions related to the local subsidiaries. Most importantly, organizations need to realize that the code has to be updated with the move of time and employees must always be informed when there are changes that are made to the code. Along with all of this, some of the things that I would also include in my organizations global code of conduct would be: • Alcohol and drug abuse • Compliance with company rules • Conflicts of interest • Dress code • Harassment and bullying • Social responsi... ... middle of paper ... ...usiness matter, hiring, promoting, vendors, and even types of investments. These types of close relationships can interfere with an employee’s judgment, cause employee morale issues, and even most of the time leads to conflicts of interest or sexual harassment within the organization. These types of relationships can have a negative impact on the organization as a whole and can also affect all of the employees around it. In order for organizations to avoid and prevent these types of problems from occurring and to maintain a positive work environment for all of their employees they must have a Human Resource Department that handles these types of issues. If this was to occur within an organization it would need to be brought to the attention of the Human Resource representative and therefore the organization could take the appropriate action to handle the situation.
In conclusion the code of conduct is very important in a business it intended to be a central guide and reference for users in support of day-to-day decision making. It is meant to clarify an organization's mission, values and principles, linking them with standards of professional conduct. Some of the principles and standard I talk about was sexual harassment, being professional and discrimination on other. Some of the ways that employees can follower the code of conduct is by ethics training, Setting and following policies and procedures and include ethical behavior in their everyday life.
For a company to be successful ethically, it must go beyond the notion of simple legal compliance and adopt a values-based organizational culture. A corporate code of ethics can be a very valuable and integral part of a company’s culture but I believe that it is not strong enough to stand alone. Thought and care must go into constructing the code of ethics and the implementation of it. Companies need to infuse ethics and integrity throughout their corporate culture as well as into their definition of success. To be successfully ethical, companies must go beyond the notion of simple legal compliance and adopt a values-based organizational culture.
The first case that I have chosen to analyze is case #3. The standards from the Code of Ethics that comes into play regarding this particular case would be the first and most valuable one will be commitment to client. With this code the social worker primary responsibility is to promote any type of well-being to the clients. The social worker has to remain loyal to their clients. Another standard from the Code of Ethics would be the privacy and confidentiality with this code only as a social worker you are only allow to discuss with persons who are legally incapable of giving informed consent and also their legal representative. Social workers can not disclose confidential information that could lead to identification of a client/ patient with
A code of ethics is a formal document in which is used to assist members of an organization, to know what’s ‘right’ and what is ‘wrong’ in the work place and applying it to their decisions. A code of ethics is a written set of rules or guidelines to help the workers and management ‘conduct’ or direct their actions with its primary values and ethical standards. A code of ethics is important because without it, employees and management wouldn’t have guidelines and the establishment would resemble a crazy house. Consider the establishment, Dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts is a food establishment well-known for their famous donuts, coffee and their slogan “America runs on Dunkin”. Without a code of ethics, the industry would most likely be extremely hard to control.
Most organisations begin the method of establishing organisational ethical projects by introducing codes of conducts. It helps to generate public trust and improve
In conclusion, companies that seek to integrate into global markets usually encounter several problems because of the effect of globalization on business practices. The challenges originating from such integration is attributed to the differences in cultures in various societies across the globe. As evident in Google’s dilemma in China, there is no single set of universal ethics that are applicable to all settings and societies across the globe. Companies such as Google need to develop varying ethical standards that are relevant and appropriate to various nations and cultures in the world. This would enable the companies that are integrating into global markets to avoid ethical issues while maintaining effective business practices.
Nowadays, society is governed by the implications of rules and legal restrictions. All of these rules were created to uphold and maintain the idea of ethical and moral values. Even children growing up were taught by some very important codes of ethics at school. These lessons learned as a youth growing up carry over into adulthood, as an employee or manager. Managers and workers both follow a similar code of ethics within the work place. Today, as a management consultant, I am going to prepare a code of ethics for my clients as they have recently started a restaurant called Knox, it is important to have a code of ethics in every company for their employees and also a circular by explaining the purpose and benefits of a good ethics. And finally, a brief report on the steps of strategic formulation and implementation.
There are a number of issues that affect international business ethics. They include employment practices, human rights, environmental regulations, corruption, and moral obligation of multinational companies. Employment practice refers to the working conditions an employee must work under. This can be very difficult to gauge, because many times the working conditions of a host nation are inferior to those in an organizations home nation. Many organizations have had to fight with these regulations. A good example of this in the trouble Nike found themselves in during the 1990s. There were a number of news reports released about the working conditions of most of its subcontractors were very poor . The Nike Company was not breaking any laws but it did bring into question the ethics of using a sweatshop. After this incident it left a number of questions for the international marketplace. In recent years many companies have cut ties with organizations that use unsafe and unfair labor practice.
· Romantic relationships between employees, i.e., perceptions of favoritism and morale problems can occur among employees, and there is a built-in potential for discrimination or harassment charges.
A code of conduct is a set of rules and responsibilities that are written for individuals to follow. The code of conduct is a guide for people to follow in order to sustain a stable atmosphere in the work area and at school. This set of rules helps people stay in control because it provides them with a safer environment around each other and easier for everybody to get along. It also helps keep in control the character of all the people so they can only be permitted to do certain things. Not only that, but it helps the customers and businesses be protected. With the code of conduct implemented the students, can also show different people how an organization can mediate all its employees and students in a safe environment at school. School would benefit from having a code in place, especially when it comes to keeping employees and students safe from behavioral
Ethics is central for any organization in treating employees fairly and helping the organization advance its mission. There is no single best way for dealing with ethical challenges, but it is very important for managers to develop ethical policies and procedures for implementation. To minimize possible unethical decisions by staff members, it is important to incorporate written standards grounded in organizational values in the code of conduct.
According to our textbook Human Resource Management (HRM) is the policies, practices, and systems that influence employees’ behavior, attitudes, and performance. “The human resources management process involves planning for, attracting, developing, and retaining employees as the HRM planning provides the rights kinds of people, in the right quantity, with the right skills, at the right time (Lussier, 2012, p. 240).” According to our textbook the typical responsibilities of the Human Resources department fall into three categories, and they are administrative services and transaction, which handle hiring employees. The second involves business partner services that focus on attracting, evolving, retaining employees by having a clear understanding
Sexual harassment is causing a lot of problems and the business environment, According to HR 360, “Equal Opportunity Commission, since 2010 more than 7,000 sexual harassment charges it had been filed over the agency each year” (YouTube, 2015). This is a huge statistic issues in the business environment, considering that we work at least 8 hours a day and should be a safety environment, so labors can enjoy their labor journey everyday happiness. Human Resources Department in any company is the group of people who makes up the workforce of an organization. Therefore, it focuses to identify any situation of the personnel is living at the moment in a company and try to find a solution. In this case, it’s referring to the Sexual Harassment, where many people are suffering this aspect.
The relationship between employer and employees plays a pivotal role in the performance of the organization. Employers and employees have certain responsibilities towards each other which facilitate a fair and productive workplace. Positive work relationships create a cooperative climate with effort towards the same goals. Conflict, on the other hand, is likely to divert attention away from organizational performance.
The UN Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) (UN General Assembly 2003) is the first international attempt to establish a standard of anti-corruption policy in order to reduce problems related to corruption (Hechler et al. 2011) like an adverse impact on economic growth (Mauro 2004). In spite the fact that the approach of UNCAC is based on large empirical evidence about the causes of corruption (Judge, McNatt, and Xu 2011) corruption remains in some countries a persistent problem (Hechler et al. 2011). A ex ante analysis by Hechler et al. (2011) identified the lack implementation as one of the major pitfalls of the UNCAC and this essay seeks to find a theoretical explanation by drawing on the literature of policy diffusion, which applies for UNCAC as the policy choices of signing countries affect the policy choices of other countries (Meseguer 2006). This constitutes an interesting case for testing the assumptions of the two main mechanism identified by Gilardi (2003), who distinguishes between mechanisms of diffusion focused on rational problem-solving or symbolic purposes (Meseguer 2006). However, this essay narrows the field of possible answers by arguing that the concept of rational learning (Meseguer 2006) does not apply and therefore advocates a critical assessment of the underlying premise of mimetic isomorphism that countries imitate each other but are more concerned about legitimacy rather than functional efficiency (Hall and Taylor 1996). Testing mimetic isomorphism against the implementation process of UNCAC will highlight under which conditions the theoretical framework is more likely to explain the outcome of anti-corruption policy. This may yield key insights on the antecedents of failure in decreasing...
