According to Sonlight Curriculum Ltd. (2014), learning styles are important to learn because facilitators will be better equipped to teach their pupils. The faster facilitators comprehend learning styles and which learning styles their pupils have, the quicker they will be able to bond with them on an intense and more significant level, and the earlier they will be able to teach them efficiently. I utilize this method because learner-centered teaching engages pupils in the tough, messy work of learning. At times, as a facilitator, I believe that sometimes I might do too many learning tasks for my pupils. I ask the enquiries, I call on pupils, as well as add detail to their answers. Additionally, I might provide the examples, organize the content, and do the preview and review. I realized that on any given day, I am working much harder than my pupils and recognized that my pupils will not develop refined learning skills without the opportunity to practice. Learner-centered teaching also includes precise skill instruction; as a learner-centered teacher, I teach pupils how to analyze arguments, solve problems, think, evaluate evidence, and generate hypotheses; each and everyone of those learning skills are needed to mastering material in the discipline. I also believe that learner-centered teaching inspires pupils to reflect on what they are learning and how they are learning it. Nonetheless, they challenge pupil theories about learning and urge them to accept accountability for choices they make about learning; case and point, whether they revise their writing or check their answers, how they study for exams, and when they do assigned reading. In reading Learning Styles: Understanding and Using Learning Styles (2014), I recognized that a lot of pupils and some facilitators make the error of believing that they cannot learn using approaches that are not fixated on their learning style. This is also an enormous slip-up that in the end will result in less learning. Learning is defined as a permanent change in attitude or behaviour that occurs as a result of repeated experience (Sims & Sims, 1995). Understanding one’s learning style has many advantages as it can help one to identify the learning method or activities that can help to optimise the learning experience. It has been suggested that the importance of one’s learning style has been identified through studies and research on how one can maximise the potential for success and further learning development (Honey & Mumford, 2006). Learning styles are unique to each individual and are developed in childhood (Chase, 2001). We all have different personalities; therefore we all have preferred learning styles that suit us best. The way one learns depends on preference. Some learn by observing, listening and imitating others and draw conclusions from their experience. There are several factors that affect our learning style; for example, background, culture, religion and environment can have a major influence on one’s learning.

Methods like experiments, field trips or role play are rarely used. Because of that, labs and tutorials are more essential for these learners. Among the methods that can help these learners are by trying to use all the senses in the learning process because the more senses you use the higher recall will be, as you have many clues. Teaching in the read/write learning style is improves the learning experience for others especially for this specific learning style. The read/write learning style is a very common and useful form of learning that is taught in an educational platform because of the nature of the learning style. Therefore, knowing how to tailor one’s lectures to meet the needs of the students with the read/write learning style is a refreshing and revitalizing method in providing the information to those who are in a position to learn and encourages the information taught to remain intact and new in their brain. Furthermore, being aware of one’s learning style allows the individual to receive the information to be understood competently. Awareness of your individual learning style can provide it’s advantages along with its disadvantages. The advantages of this awareness are that the individual knows how to receive the information in a way that is best suited for their abilities. This can allow the individual to be more in sync with what methods and tools are necessary to enhance the learning experience. There are many areas for potential failure in the learner-centered classroom. Doyle states that student resistance is the biggest obstacle to overcome. The student often doesn’t understand the concept and is not receptive to it. The greatest way to deal with this potential failure is to explain the ‘why’ to the students. Students that understand why they are to do a task and understand how to apply it are more likely to overcome it.

According to Kolb’s Learning Style Inventory, referring to ways to knowing, I lean more towards Concrete Experience. I refer to my direct experience rather than thinking. “A Concrete Experience orientation focuses on being involved in experiences and dealing with immediate human situations in a personal way. There are slow learners as well as a mixture of fast learners in every classroom. These should be taken into consider and activities should be planned accordingly so that slow learners will not left behind and fast learners will not be bored. There are students with learning difficulties which will affect the teaching learning process. These should be taken into consider and teachers need to avoid things happening which as an effect in the teaching learning process. Behavior such as disruptive and destructive shows similar characteristics. These behaviors need to be discussed with the parents and necessary actions need to be taken to create a good atmosphere in the class. Also teachers will be able to identify different cognitive levels and learning styles. Some students learn through audio, some need to see visually while some of them learn by writing. So as teachers we need to have all these learning styles in a lesson to fulfill each individual. Planning should be done accurately which helps in the teaching learning process.
