Knowledge is the information, understanding, or skill that you get from experience or education (Webster dictionary). Knowledge has a different definition for everyone, but this one closely resembles what I see knowledge as. Each person is filled with knowledge of many different things. Acquiring said information happens in an abundance of ways, differing for each individual. Knowledge is one of the most valuable things that a person can have in life, because everyone has knowledge of something.

One does not simply know or learn these things off the top of their head. To gain this understanding of things we have to learn from other people. We listen to others talking about a certain topic and we begin to have a better understanding of it. When we learn about some things we develop a need to know more, a need to have more knowledge about the topic. We find everything we can know about it, and we read, listen and experiment. This is a very important part of gaining knowledge.
When we are first born we are already gaining knowledge from observing the people and things around us. As we group up we learn how to talk, walk and do other things by watching other people. It is very important that knowledge-making takes place early in life. At a young age we begin to learn all the important parts of our lives. We learn about traditions in our family. We find things that interest us. How people have an interest in many different subjects. When people have an interest in a certain subject they go above and beyond to find out as much as they can about the subject. In The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down Anne Fadiman has an interest in the Hmong people. She broadened her knowledge about them because she wanted to. And by Fadiman wanting to know more in turn I know more. She found out information and released it so others could gain knowledge about the Hmong also. Fadiman does not know everything about the Hmong but she has a deeper knowledge about how they live and why they believe what they believe.
In Guns, Germs and Steel, Jared Diamond had a large interest in history. Because of his interest he researched just about everything he could to have a better understanding.
