Are Schools Safer With Or Without Guns? “More than 400 people have been shot in over 200 school shootings.” (Patel). A lot of the deaths and injuries could have been avoided with the use of hand held guns. Also arming teachers with guns can be used as a threat to shooters. Money also would not be that big of a problem. The outcome would be very successful and according to CNN, “Arming teachers ‘can be done right’” (Chavez).

What Funding Would Be Required To Keep Schools Safe? After reading from The Washington Post, I was informed that “Just enough to pass the safety requirement for gun ownership.. There’s a company that will charge you $100 for that training. The cost, then, would be about $71.8 million for all our teachers.” (Bump). That may seem like a lot, but that would be a one time fee. If you were to hire a full time security guard,the school would have to pay the guard annually, which can end up being a lot more expensive. Most schools cannot afford to pay that much, when they could have their own security guards. …show more content…

At Harold ISD, teachers went through thorough training to become armed at school. They have to pass an accuracy test by using a laser gun to shoot targets on a screen. “Teachers aim, shoot and eliminate suspects using real-life video drills.” (ABC).
