Copper has high electrical conductivity and thus also high thermal conductivity. Naval brass which is the alloy of copper has high hardness when compared to all other alloys of copper. It has high electrical resistance, high strength and high corrosion resistance when compared to other alloy of copper. So, it is difficult to fusion welding of copper and naval brass. The major problem of these alloys in fusion welding is the evaporation of zinc during the welding process. At the end of welding, the welded metal becomes porous.
The amount of zinc is reduced due to the evaporation. When this happens naval brass loses its mechanical and chemical properties. This problem occurs when fusion

3.1Work holding device
Work holding device consists of base plate and fixture which is used to hold the specimen rigidly. The size of the fixture can be varied according to the dimensions of the specimen. The primary objectives of using a work hold device in a FSW machine are,
• To position the work piece in a definite location relative to the worktable
• To withstand holding and tool forces
• Maintaining the precise location of joint and high degree of safety

When this happens naval brass loses its mechanical and chemical properties. This problem occurs when fusion welding process is done. So an alternative method is chosed for welding copper and naval brass. The welding parameters have to be adjusted so that the ratio of frictional to volumetric deformation-induced heating decreases as the work piece becomes thicker.
Both the Copper and Naval brass plates was taken and cut into the required size (99.5mm×49.8mm×3mm) by power hacksaw cutting and grinding. Joint configuration as shown in figure was prepared to fabricate Friction Stir Welding joints. The initial joints joint configuration was obtained by securing the plates in position using mechanical clamps. The direction of welding was normal to the rolling direction, non-consumable tool made of H13 tool steel were used to fabricate the

We use metals to construct all kinds of structures, from bridges to skyscrapers to elevators. The strength as well as durability of materials that are crafted out of metal make the materials ideal not only for construction but also for many other applications.
Tomorrows Welders Thomas Jefferson said, “I find that the harder I work, the less I call it work”. I have often found myself in situations where I needed to fix something but could not because it is metal. I believe this might be why I began to show interest in welding. There is great satisfaction in being able to create or fix a metal object on your own.
Oxy- fuel welding is usually called in workplace/trades terms oxy acetylene welding, gas welding and oxy fuel cutting which are all use fuel and oxygen to cut and weld metals together. It all started with the famous chemist Edmund Davy, who is suppose to be considered as the first man to make acetylene. By accident in 1836 Edmund while trying to make potassium created a black compound which was mixed with water create a gas that burned greatly. Edmund wanted to use this gas to make lights but the materials and production would cost to much. Calcium carbide was not identified until 1862. In 1892 calcium carbide was created by accident when trying to create calcium from coal tar when the production reacted with water.
Welding is a very important job in today’s society. With new building designs, and bridges to every day metal products, welders are needed to do these tasks. Almost everything that you use every day has some sort of weld to it.
Even though welding has been around for a long time, most of the best inventors were around during the 19th century and have changed the way thing are done today. During the 20th century, many technological advancements developed and have made welding easier because of the different types of welding that have been developed. Welding impacted the world during World War l, because during the war armaments that were going to be utilized were ordered in tremendous amounts. Therefore, welding has been around since the Iron Age and has let people build strong steel and powerful armament such as Weapons, tanks, and planes. Finally, welding has had many advancements, and will continue to do so in the future, because the world needs
Welding itself is a fairly simple concept. In the end, two pieces of metal are bonded together. The method of getting there however, is a bit more complex. “There are tons of different welding methods, and more are being invented all the time. Some methods use heat to essentially melt two pieces of metal together… Other methods rely on pressure to bind metal together, and still others use a combination of both heat and pressure”(Atteberry 1). All these different
A wide variety of coating alloys and wrought alloys can be prepared that give the metal greater strength, castability, or resistance to corrosion or high temperatures. Some new alloys can be used as armor plate for tanks, personnel carriers, and other military vehicles.

T.I.G ( Tungsten Inert Gas) is a challenging process to learn. Jonathan Atteberry claims that “ T.I.G welding is difficult to learn and requires an elaborate welding rig of skills. It also uses a lot of electricity to make the welds clean and spatter less” (Parag 5). T.I.G welding is hard to learn because of people having different hand coordination. Most people would expect a long time to weld TIG because it is hard and requires a lot...
An additional handle for powered tools, located near the front end, helps support a heavy tool, resistance to excessive torque, and safe placement of the tool on to the work piece.

Welding is an art, science, and high paying career all in one. Welding is the most effective way to join two pieces of metal, it is the only way to join them so they act as one. Numerous things in our daily lives has been welded from coffeepots to skyscrapers. Welding can be done almost anywhere outdoors, indoors, underwater, and even space (“Welding Basics”). It is practically
There are many different types of alloys; some are so common that they carry on a life beyond their metal bases. For example, 65-90% of copper mixed with 10-35% of zinc create the well known alloy brass, which provides increased resistance to corrosion in things like instruments and
