Throughout the educational journey, the goal is to make sure that every student has the opportunity to be able to learn and understand at least one concept that a teacher has taught them and even encourage them to continue the educational path and develop a love for knowledge and understanding. As a current college student and future educator, I discovered upon a small business call BrainPOP. From educating students in a creative manner to helping teacher organize their learning materials base on the grade level and learning program, BrainPOP will always be known as an innovative and very resourceful small business.
When handling children, we have to remember that they are very curious individuals who also have a short attention span when
it comes to topics that may not interest them. But, with the use of BrainPOP, a teacher will have the ability to put on an animated video about any topic in a certain subject area such as Math, English, Science, Health and other interesting subject areas, be able to play games that relate to the lesson, have fun quizzes that can also be uses as a game in the classroom, and even have worksheets that correlate with the lesson, so students can break down the information that they are learning. All of their videos and activities makes not only myself, but the future generation of students thankful. The reason why I state this is because even though a school’s main purpose is to educate students, many students see school as an escape from the life that they live at home, and some students don’t live in a perfect world. But, with a place like BrainPOP for kids to go on, they can distract themselves and develop a love for learning. Imagine yourself as a brand-new teacher fresh out of college, you think that your well prepared from not only knowing the lessons that your going to teach but how your going to teach your students, so they comprehend each and every word. Then, you step into your classroom, and forget what you had learned in all of your college education class. But, with BrainPOP, they provide you with Lesson Plans, Classroom Resources, Creative Ideas to teach your students and even worksheets to give out to the students to do for classwork and/or homework. With these resources for BrainPOP Jr. (K-3), BrainPOP (4-12), and BrainPOP ESL (English as a second language), it gives every student an opportunity to receive proper knowledge and teachers the ability to not focus so much on how to prepare the lesson and more time to teach, answer questions, and even interact with the students so they can feel more open to participate and be a part of the classroom. In conclusion, this small business had this idea of educating our future students with fun characters such as a robot name Moby, a little animated girl name Annie to teach from BrainPOP Jr., and an animated teenage boy name Tim to teach from BrainPOP and a little animated boy name Ben from BrainPOP ESL for student to learn in an entertaining and creative manner. Also, teacher have the ability to prepare for their lesson without the struggle of losing touch with their interactive side of teaching students. These are the reasons why BrainPOP is my personal favorite small business.
Both were given a workshop with skills on how to study, but one was also given lessons on what a growth mindset was and how to develop one. The group given the lessons on growth mindset was extremely fascinated by the thought that they could control how much knowledge they were capable of learning. Overall, the growth mindset group excelled while the control group continued to not do so well. After receiving these results, Dweck was so inspired that she developed a growth mindset computer program called “Brainology,” that would be available to students all around the world. Dweck concluded that it’s extremely important to teach students that it takes hard work to achieve
In The article “Brainology” “Carol S Dweck, a professor of psychology at Stanford University, differentiates between having a fixed and growth mindset in addition how these mindsets have a deep effect on a student’s desire to learn. Individuals who have a fixed mindset believe they are smart without putting in effort and are afraid of obstacles, lack motivation, and their focus is to appear smart.. In contrast, students with a growth mindset learn by facing obstacles and are motivated to learn. Dwecks argues that students should develop a growth mindset.
Teachers help us expand and open our mind by giving us skills throughout students’ early life to help students when they are older. By learning information from teachers, students become better people, in a couple of ways. Besides inquiring knowledge from their teachers, students learn to work with one another, open their mind to other peoples’ thoughts and ideas, respect one another, and learn different techniques for life’s issues.
Understandably, I had some doubt about carrying out this age group’s observation at the UCF Creative School, seeing as how I knew that the oldest kid in the school was about eleven. My backup plan if no volunteers in the proper age range were available or if I felt as if the data I gathered was not sufficient was to observe teenagers at a mall. However, after the first fifteen minutes I was hopeful. Of course, as mentioned before, during the third observational time the volunteer who was nineteen left the area I was allowed to observe in. So I stayed a little later in order to ensure I had the proper amount of time to observer. It was a bit different only being able to observe one person at a time, but I reasoned that it makes sense doing this as their may be a time in my future career as an educator where I will be asked to write a report about a particular student’s behavior for an IEP teacher or parents. During this additional fifteen minutes the class was still outside in the playground. Most of the kids finished their scavenger hunt, however it was very clear that most simply copped or traded answers about where they found certain things. Because of this, the daycare employees in this group decided to walk the kids around and have them explain where they found the items. While the two daycare ladies were doing this, the volunteer collected the sheets and pencils from the

Education is something of value worldwide, however receiving a good education is what is important. There are various components that make up a good education; being able to ask questions when a person is confused, using technology to expand one’s learning, and not only student engagement but even parent and faculty engagement. Most importantly, it crucial to understand what type of learner the student is to be sure that they are understanding the material.
Helping students to learn and grow is a foundational belief of what I will strive to accomplish as a teacher. Every single student has their own individual talents and strengths and I plan to cultivate these strengths to help students become the best they can be. As every student’s learning is extremely important to me, I believe in providing an engaging and welcoming learning environment which students truly enjoy. This will always be a safe and positive environment for all students. My teaching strategies include elements of clarity, variability, enthusiasm, and opportunities to learn and discover. These are essential components I possess and will continually work to improve as an educator.
Teachers try their best to help their students. Students improve their thinking by understanding the concept that is being taught to them. In the video from "Learning As We Grow – Development and Learning” the three teachers interacted in ways that played a part in their students learning (Annenberg Learner, 2016).
The saying, “true knowledge means being aware one knows nothing,” in turn couldn’t be more accurate. Each day is a chance to learn, achieve, and aspire for tomorrow; thus, it is essential to make every day count. Education is not about regurgitating facts to pass an exam and then forget the material a week later, but instead inspiring a craving for knowledge and enthusiasm to seek information and experience. These are the foundations for which discovery and innovation rest upon, and the proverbs to which I live. My infinite hunger for knowledge and restless longing to make a difference have pushed me past my potential and to continue striving for more each day. The support my family and teachers have provided me during grade school has etched the axiom in my mind that anything can be accomplished if worked towards ambitiously. I know what I want to achieve in life and the determination needed to prevent diverging from that goal. I desire to seek the most life has to offer and never limit the extent of my learning, which is why I struggle to imagine myself at any other institution apart from Penn State
I think that one of the greatest things that I can do for my kids is to take them seriously and listen to them. My five year old is constantly showing me everything that he learns and it’s very easy to tune him out sometimes, but I think its very important not to. It is important to listen because if you don’t give your kids enough attention they might try and seek it in a negative way. It is important to listen to your children when they have learned something new or want to tell you something that they are proud of. Children seek your approval, and that gives them confidence.
Educating current and future generations involves more than simply imparting common knowledge of core subject matter such as reading, writing, and arithmetic. It is an art and a science that requires a great deal of time, energy, money, and mental and emotional investment on the teacher’s part. The success of education depends largely on the educators facilitating it, the pupils receiving it, the community that understands and supports it, and the curricula it provides.
When it comes to understanding children’s actions, their behavior, and their thinking it is imperative to understand the whole brain of the child. Children brains are developed through their parents, and the experiences they encounter as they are growing up. In the textbook Siegel & Bryson talks about the different parts of the brain. First, we must understand that our brain is a social organ. In knowing this, when our children encounter different circumstances we have to learn how to integrate them in thinking through situations with their whole. “Integration takes the distinct parts of your brain and helps them work together as a whole” (Siegel & Bryson, 6). Parents have to observe their children and know how to deal with them. All children are wired different and have their own
I believe it is the obligation of an educator to help create lifelong learners out of our students. Three key elements need to be present for this to take place. Confidence, relevance and motivation must all be present. Students need to have the confidence to try and succeed, or try and fail. This may sound like a trivial example, but I believe it is essential to success. Without knowing and understanding failure, students will not be able to appreciate success and what it takes to succeed. Confidence will be gained through the trial and error that takes place in the successful business educator’s classroom. Rele...
Students in today’s day and age genuinely want to learn the material they are being taught. They understand that if they learn the concepts that it will not only help them live a successful
Learning initially begins with one's attitude toward themselves, others, and the world we live in. It is our attitudes that play a major role in shaping our experiences, which in turn affects the way in which we learn. We must first be able to interpret the world using information we already know, in order to understand something entirely new. As a teacher, I could only hope that I can provide children with a positive educational experience, one that will broaden the scope in which they view themselves, others, and the world on a larger scale. Children already acquire a desire to learn, however, it is up to us to sti...
