What is motivation? Motivation isn’t just a word. It’s a feeling that comes deep from within. Motivation is what causes you to act, it’s the feeling that drives you from within, it’s what makes us want to achieve our goals. Motivation can come from all sorts of things. It can come from things such as religion, money, entitlement, or even just a feeling you get from helping others. Motivation is a very powerful word and is something that has played a very large part in shaping the world we live in today.
Before going into different forms of motivation it’s important to understand the history of the word motivation. Motivation is derived from the latin word movere which means to move. When you think about it, this makes complete sense because motivation is what makes us do what we do. Motivation is what keeps us moving forward towards bigger and better things without the feeling of motivation our world would not be the way it is today. Without it, Benjamin Franklin probably wouldn’t have discovered electricity, Christopher Columbus wouldn’t have discovered America, and the entire world as we know it would be completely different to how it is today.

How many people do you know that would be perfectly happy living their life as a bum that nobody ever knows the name of and will never be treated with respect? Probably not very many and that is why people are always trying to get a higher sense of entitlement. Even since roman times of around 80 A.D. when they held olympic events in the colosseum, sports was a poor man's way of becoming more entitled in life. They worked towards becoming the best athletes they could possibly be because if they won they would no longer be treated like a peasant. They would be treated as a champion and have special privileges they never would have had if they never would have found motivation be be the best athlete they could possibly
