Some people are more into fashion blog's or animal blog's. Most people have their personal blog where they post things they enjoy. Some people have blog's about a movie or TV show's they enjoy. You can have many blog's, all linked to the same account. Tumblr makes it easy to run many blog's at the same time. It's a wonderful place for all to come. The basics of Tumblr are easy to learn.
When you post something, people have a few choices about what they would like to do with it. Firstly they can share the post on Twitter or Facebook. You can add it to your reading list, take a copy of it or send it in an email. This helps you show what you enjoy to your friends who do not have a Tumblr. Then you have the choice to reblog, which is when you like something on someone's blog and you wish to have it on your own. You click the reblog button and you may add comments or pictures to the post. The last thing you can do is click the button shaped like a heart, which is the equal to liking the post. The people who will see these things you post are your followers.
Having followers are a big part of the Tumblr experience. When people like the things you post, they can go to your blog and click the follow button. That person will now have you on their dashboard. Which is similar to a Facebook newsfeed, the post of people you follow will be visible there. You can see who is following and who you are following right on your homepage. You are they only one who can see you’re follower count. Some blog users allow you to see who they follow on their page. The more ...

A Climate of Fear “The Gang Crackdown”, provided by PBS, communicates the everyday struggles that the communities of Nassau County face every day. The video’s focus revolves around the homicidal and violent crimes that have been provided by the “MS-13” and the details of cracking down on their development. The Latin American gang from El Salvador is known for their audacity to target the young population of Long Island and their homicidal tendencies. These gang members have left the community defenseless and struck fear into the hearts of many parents along with the government itself.
“Perhaps, Americans have moved from a print-based culture to an aural/visual one, preferring electronic media for information, distraction, and entertainment” (Media and Popular Culture, 426). In the past few years social media has been a staple to the everyday life of our society. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Tumblr have become the most used websites and apps used every day. Every site is different and every site has its similarities, but there are a few elements that make them better than the other websites. There are always back and forth battles from users claiming one site is better than the other. Two websites always being compared are Tumblr and Twitter. Both sites offer a wide variety of different things to do while on their site, but they also offer some of the same qualities.
These people are called your friends or followers. They however, are not all your friends. They are people that you keep up with. You probably met some of them once or twice, so in everyone’s race to get more followers and friends you added them on whatever social media outlet you use. This keeping up with people is called ambient awareness which is like being close to somebody and picking up on their mannerisms that would give away that they were upset (Thompson 587). Ambient awareness was created by things like the Facebook news feed, and the Twitter feed. When people update once or twice a day, people who read them are able to get a feel for their personalities. When a person who normally posts happy statuses suddenly puts something up about how they hate life, it’s so different you click on it and read the comments left by people so you can find out what is going on in their life. Clive Thompson, a Canadian science and technology journalist says that, “Ambient awareness, makes people think that they have plenty of friends when in the ‘real world’ they do not have seven hundred really close friends,” (Thompson). Ambient Awareness allows you to keep up with everyone you have ever met. By being able to do that, one is never able to form close bonds with people, because there is always someone else they can talk to. Through this constant connect with old friends there would be no need for new ones, and

Exposing students to the power of social media in the classroom is an important part of preparing them to be active and positive digital citizens in a 21st century world. In the last two years, my own students have rapidly been drawn to Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, and many other social networking platforms. They upload, share, and connect with others often without any regard to how their digital footprints may reflect them as individuals. Having continuous conversations with students about the choices that they make can lead to positive results. Students don't realize how powerful social media platforms can be in terms of networking, researching, and engaging in academic conversations. It makes me laugh every time I hear them whisper about my colleague Heather's or my Twitter feed. First of all kids, I can hear you. Second of all, yes, social media can be an amazing way to give and exchanged knowledge.
Instagram is more like Facebook than Snapchat or Twitter. Instagram is a social media site purely for sharing videos and pictures. Like every other app, you can share, favorite, or comment on posts. The pictures will remain up until the owner of the account takes them down and anyone who follows you will see them. Instagram has a direct message system but its primary use is to post pictures. Instagram’s content reaches out to most age groups but is still dominant in the teens to early 20s age

Like most social media platforms they evolve and create what some may consider empty content. Empty content are posts such as memes or click-bait, which are headlines for articles with a link attached to it. This is a major reason why I stay off of other social media platforms. While empty content can be very annoying, some empty content can be advantageous. Some content is driven by pop culture such as memes making it an easy way to stay current or the explore tab on Instagram is full of various
Blogs are a form of new media. The ability for bloggers to post any sort of text photos or even videos to other internet users that could interact have become popular.
Social media is about relationships as much as tactics and techniques. A strong human element to your brand will help customers trust your credibility and perspective. It has become imperative for a journalist, companies, and organizations to use Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram to get breaking news out faster and promote their publications. You can update your hourly about an event, new item, community involvement, or etc, and easily get out your message.
Technology has been and will continue to be an essential part of human life. Information technology is a revolution that has taken the whole world captive. Everyone around the globe is trying either to conform or catch up with the ever changing and improving technologies without having a second thought of its impact on their lives. The internet is the ground-breaking invention of the twenty first century, leading to the mushrooming of the social media and other communication platforms. The best invention that has captured my interest is the instagram. Its effect and how it has positively impacted on the lives of people, especially the youth cannot be underestimated. Instagram is improving the quality life. It has unlocked our creativity, enhanced connection and led to faster access to information. Comparing the past with the present, we can argue that information technology has done more good than harm and even as we progress into the future, we ought to adopt better technology because what we currently have may not be good enough.
