The Four Functions of Management
Management is the process of working with other and capital to achieve organizational goals. Also management is defining as creative problem solving. This creative problem solving is accomplished through the four functions of management: planning, organizing, leading and controlling. The intended result is the use of an organization's resources in a way that finish its mission and objectives. Every good manager, supervisor or leader does those tings both effectively and efficiently.
At the present time in MEDDAC-Japan the organization in which I am employ, is working to reorganize some the way they offers services to the military community. Very interesting it is to see as the four functions of management in action.
In the business world today, the great executives not only adapt to changing conditions but also apply fanatically, rigorously, consistently and with discipline the fundamental management principles. These fundamentals include the four traditional functions of management. They remain as relevant as ever, and they still provide the fundamentals that are needed in star ups as much as in established corporations.
Management success is expanding through accomplishment of mission and objectives of the organization. Managers and leaders fail when they do not achieve mission and objectives established. Success and failure are attached in a straight line to the reasons for being in business, mission and objectives. On the other hand, accomplishing mission and objectives is not enough. Success requires equally effectiveness and efficiency. Managers, leaders and supervisor who achieve their mission and objectives are believed to be effective. Efficiency describes the connection between the amount of resources used (the input) and the amount to which objectives were accomplished (the output). However, management is complete only if the manager or team leader has become familiar with the specific situation in which he or she can develop and applied each one of the four function of management.

5. Define clearly the responsibilities being delegated to each person. Explain what is expected of the person and the bounds of their authority. Be sure agreement is reached where the person can function freely.
6. Give accurate and honest feedback.
7. Really delegate. Most responsible people do not appreciate someone looking over their shoulder, kibitzing, or taking back parts of their assignment before they have a chance to do it.
8. Stress the importance of evaluation. You must not overlook the need to evaluate and measure the extent to which your actions conformed to your plans, if the plans went well, or if the original plans were appropriate and worthwhile.

Every manager must have a set of principles, values, and core beliefs that he must follow. These principles, values, and beliefs make up his philosophy of management. Webster defines philosophy as “the most basic beliefs, concepts, and attitudes of an individual or group.” (Webster) I will be discussing the principles, values, and beliefs I as a manager will have to do my job efficiently. I will also discuss the different biblical beliefs that support my management style.

(Fulop, Frith, Hayward 1992 p. 187) To be more specific, management is the process of organizing work activities with and through people to ensure the activities are completed efficiently and effectively (Robbins, Bergman, Stagg, Coulter 2006, p. 9). Through management, the goals of the organization or business are to be achieved. Henri Fayol, one of the most influential contributors to modern concepts of management, proposed that there are five primary functions for management, which consist of planning, organizing, commanding, coordinating and controlling. Nonetheless, the functions of commanding and coordinating have metamorphosed into leading (Crainer 2003).
Strength of an organisation mostly depends on the management team. Without it, the organisation will go haywire. The people who run the management teams are called managers. "Management involves coordinating and overseeing the work activities of others so that their activities are completed efficiently and effectively" (Robbins et al., 2009, p.10). The manager interviewed is Mr. W and works for a small company, Neoncrafts Sdn Bhd. It has been established since January 1993. He holds the top-level, as a managing director (MD) since the business started. The company provides service of installing neon lights. The company is made up of less than 20 employees and its main objective is to provide good service and make profit. The organisation has done several projects that they can be proud of such as the coca-cola sign on the federal highway, the Citibank at Kuala Lumpur, Senor Baker in Nilai Inti College and a few others. Mr. W is an experience businessman and manager. We can use these theories and compare with what Mr. W answered.
Planning provides the fundamental basis of an effective and efficient organisation. Planning plays a crucial role in any organisation and underpins the inner working’s of a business. It provides ‘an invaluable framework’ (Mokwa, 1987) and basis for action which facilitates for goals to be achieved and ultimately guide an organisation towards success. The positive implications that planning can have eon a business are varied, numerous and far reaching. There are a range of process and components involved with planning which all must be used synergistically by managers in order for an organisation to successfully reach there goals. The benefits of planning range from: increased employee motivation as a consequence of clear vision, to the extensive benefits of enhanced resource allocation and the consequent increase in resource efficiency derived from well organised logistics. Despite this, business can still be successful with limited planning or adopting a form of ‘informal planning’, yet it cannot be disputed that adopting formal planning techniques will allow an organisation to operate more effectively, in an organised manner and ultimately function at a higher level allowing it to excel, succeed and prosper in the highly competitive modern-day business environment.
From the high authorities to the lower staff, the management of the organization is basically divided into three types which are top level management for making the policies and working strategy and then middle level management and at the end of the lower level management (Sunday & C, 2011). The first function of management is planning. Planning is a process that managers use to identify and involve goal setting and decide the best way to achieve the goal.(Bartol 2007) Planning connect the gap between where we do, where we intend to go. It predict the possible things to happen which would not otherwise happen (MSG 2012). There are several steps to the planning process, which are determine the goals of the organisation, evaluate the current position, consider possible future conditions, identify possible alternative actions and choose the best. Planning is the criteria thinking through goals and making decision to achieve the goal of the organisation’s objective, which requires a systematic way. Also objectives focus the managers how to achieve the final result as managers have to predict anything will happen, avoid the problem and fight back to competitors. An example of planning, which is the President Canon Inc Tsuneji Uchida and lead Canon Company become the no.1 in the global business (Canon.Inc 2011). Tsuneji Uchida has to understand what is the company objective and goal. First, make decision to protect the position and the aim of canon, improve the operation more diversity. Second, he creates the new design of camera and new technology, he plan to do these things to maximise profit.
